Comcast pushing for deal.

     As most

Star-divide

As most of you know, I've been very outspoken

in my criticism of this gigantic cable company. As a

30 + year Blazermaniac living in Medford, few things

over the years have taken priority over the Blazer TV schedule,

outside of the Blazer express to 6-12 home games yearly.

The 06-07 was fantastic, as I subscribed to NBA

League Pass and watched 75 + Blazer games.

With the new season looming and the blackout still in place,

I was suprised when I recieved a message from Comcast

Sports NW. They were inquiring about billboard space

in the Southern Oregon area, for the purpose of

featuring the Blazers & Ducks in an advertising campaign.

When I returned the call, the represenative explained that

they wanted satellite & cable customers to " Ask your sattelite

or cable company to add Comcast Sports NW to the channel

lineup".

Being that Charter Communications is our only available

cable company, I believe we may be able to use this opportunity

to push them to add CSNW in a special sports tier. I don't care

what the cost; BRING BACK OUR BLAZERS ! Now is the time

to increase the pressure.  I found BE in the fall of 2006 and

I know my fellow Blazermaniacs from the "Edge" will help us

in our mission.  Call list follows.

How does this play

For sattelite customers out side the cable areas

by southern oregon on Sep 1, 2008 11:54 AM PDT reply actions

Each to their own.

DirecTV, Dish network and Charter Communications all
have to make their own deals. When one of these does a
deal, I think the others will soon follow. I had DirecTV, but
cancelled last year when the blackout was known.
The FCC could ask the parties to go to arbitration.
That’s our best chance.
Thanks to all the Blazermaniacs willing to help !

It's GO time !

What Crysta of DirecTV did not understand...

is that Comcast SportsNet has several regional broadcasts and Comcast SportNet Northwest is not yet one of the ones they are carrying. Be very specific when talking to these people. Emphasize Northwest.

I've had that convo also

I was all like, maybe you don’t understand, like, we want the NW version. And they were all like, Ok.

The demands of Comcast are completely unreasonable

as they want $2 per subscriber from 95% of the subscribers. That is ESPN money. My local cable company is not even talking to Comcast. DISH and DIRECTV might be but really don’t care to see the Comcast group get more powerful.

This is a Blazer failure and a Comcast failure. The Blazers are directly at fault for not limiting the amount that Comcast can demand.

Data came from Sales Manager, Bend Broadband.

Aldridge said. "We feel like we can beat any team. We feel like we can beat the Spurs, Suns, Lakers, Mavericks, whoever any night right now, and we'll still be here when those teams get old and their guys retire. We're going to be here for a long time."

I've heard it also

Comcast and kiss my pinky ring. I cancelled my broadband from them last year……when I told the comcast rep why, she laughed and told me that a deal would be done next season (this was the beginning of last season).

I wish I had her name, I’d call her back and ask when……

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
