let me clarify my statement about a picture of kids getting blazers tix from B.E.
I made a comment about donating for kids to get tickets to a blazers home game courtesy of BlazersEdge. Ben made a reply about it not being a marketing ploy and i'd like to clarify that i'm totally in agreement with that. My purpose of the comment is because I'd love nothing more than to see the smiling faces of the kids enjoying the experience! I'm just tired of seeing ungrateful kids get things, no matter how big or small, and just not appreciating them.
That said, I'll still donate for kids to go to the game either way, but I'd really love to see a photo of said event.
Thanks for "listening"!

This proves that I don't read a lot of stuff that gets posted here...
But I don’t really see why you need to apologize over it. Your heart was in the right place I guess.

Someone
posted pictures from last season’s BE game and there were kids in lots of them. I don’t remember who took them (Dave?) but maybe they are reading here now and can either post them again or provide a link

Does this happen a lot in your life?
"Well, Travis just showed us that we can go to Travis Outlaw." - Nate McMillan
not so much in my life directly
but i do see it a lot in other places…the mall, the park, my kid’s friends’ birthday parties, on tv, on the net…every time i see something like that it really disturbs me. too many kids have a false sense of self entitlement anymore. Maybe i’m just oversensitive to it since i try really hard to make sure my children appreciate everything they get and say their “please and thank yous”.

That kind of thing creeps in
with my kids a little bit and then I have to smack it down like Godzilla does Tokyo. It’s really unsettling to see my kids ‘expect’. When it happens they usually get a healthy dose of nothing for a while until I stop hearing requests that come with some expectation attached. I know of what you speak, and I think that most do still appreciate the things that are really hard for them to get. I think that Blazers tickets falls into that category.
The general consensus last year (IIRC) was that the kids were absolutely thrilled to get the tickets they got.
And you don't eat crackers in the bed of your future, otherwise you might get....all scratchy.
The way played it with my kids
Was no matter how reasonable your request might be,if you whine about you you automaticly dont get it.

Yep.
That was a rule in my childhood, for sure.
I’d say, though, that I imagine that the kids who’ll be getting the tickets are of the underprivileged/”at risk” variety – is that right?

I hit the wrong key
one of my sisters kids was riding his bike with his pals, the cops pul them over and and give Brett a ticket,to a Mariners game for being the only one wearing a helmet and here is a cheap ticket for your Dad,I thought it was cool

marketing ploy
why does marketing have to be a ploy?
Pictures are a good idea for the people who invested the money whether or NOT it’s marketed jointly with BE and the Blazers. I’ll have to go read the response as I don’t always tend to follow up.

Children should be banned from Blazer games
At least until the proper sacrifices have been made to Oden.

thanks for the clarification

that’s definitely a fair concern.
my take: i just came from an aau event this afternoon and i am tired of adults (companies, etc.) giving things to children with strings attached.
it is apparent to me which aau coaches, mentors, etc. have the best interests of their players involved; it’s apparent that other coaches, mentors, etc. are operating in a grayer area of self-interest. i don’t want us to be anywhere near that gray area, if that makes sense.
i didn’t mean for my original response to you to come off as harsh as it seems in hindsight. hope this helps clear this up.

True Story
We went to my wife’s class reunion and apparently my wife was one of those b-words who wore a lot of black in high school and hated all her classmates. I was walking around mingling with all sorts of folks and they all knew my wife but she didn’t know them.
At one point I started talking to a couple and when they asked how we met, I said, “Oh we’re swingers, we met at a convention.” I thought it was an obvious joke. My wife came over and then the couple asked if we wanted to go to Golden Valley to play pool. A small group went to play pool and the married guy kind of took me aside and checked out Khara then said, “So are you guys really swingers?” I’ve been really careful with that joke since then.
I like cheese.
Yowzers
I’d be careful too. You might have some show up at your house….not only would that be scary from a….well….you know…....standpoint, but that’d be more mouths that would demand macadamia nuts.

It's definitely a feel good thing
for BE, even if you don’t want to use it for marketing, which I understand.
