OT - K*be
Hey guys,
I'm fairly new to the blazer's edge community as far as posting goes, being more of an observer than anything. Over a year or so of my observing, I think I have figured something out....you guys don't have much love for k*be bryant! I have always been pretty on the fence about the guy, but I figure I won't type in his full name just to go along with the crowd here. He is an absolutely amazing player to watch when he is on, so intense on defense, and often unstoppable on offence. But then there is the other side, yes, the other side...Horrible team-mate, a fair-weather fan of his own team, constant complainer to ref's (he already gets more calls than he should), and ball-hog, just to name a few. But my real issue with him is that I really don't want to hear a single thing that comes out of his mouth, epsecially when he complains to the media about his team mates and team. But my biggest problem with comes down to nick-names, it's an unwritten rule that you can't make up your own nickname, we all learned this in 5th grade, but apparently k*be missed that lesson. For me It started out with "the black mamba" can you really be more arrogant? The only thing I see in common there is the poison, the snake to its prey, and k*be to his team. And now, what's this one in the olympics? he is trying to get people to call him "the doberman", it's just getting old to me k*be, we arn't impressed...
Anyways, that was my k*be rant, I guess I do like him less that I thought before I started writing, but this is what I started this post to write about in the first place. All that hype about lebron to greece, it came about that k*be is a free-agent too, and he got to answer some questions about the chance of playing back in italy, where he grew up.

yah pretty much
I was just thinking as i was reading when during the tune up gamesm when they took out kid early on, and some one was being interview, the question was asked, “why was kid taken out of the rotation so early in the game?”, before the interviewee could respond, flobee, how was “insidently” walking by, offers his tune “cause hes old”.
what a desisive [edited]! that is not how you lead. you can be great at what you do but if your a jerk about it, nobody will want to be arround you. people will perfome BELOW there level, and while it might make you look better on the surface, it doesnt help you win.

"The Buffet of Goodness"???

"He shoots....................... he scores!!!"
I thought that Buffet thing was an offhand comment
that became a nickname…..I think that would be a small but important distinction. Not like FlowBee saying that he wants to be called The Doberman.

Ya
You can thank Dave for that gem. I believe it was at the summer league right after we traded for him, Dave asked him something along the lines of “How do you describe your game?”, and part of his response was that he was a buffet of goodness. Dave liked it and shared it with us and after that it sort of stuck. Its not like frye said “You can call me the buffet of goodness” or, “thats the buffet of goodness to you blogger boy”.
ps, K*be is a schmuck, good rant…

I just realized who you remind me of when you go button-pressing:
“I hate you, Milkman Dan.”

That pretty much sums it up.
I wish he wouldn’t have made up “The Black Mamba,” because it’s a FANTASTIC nickname. I really love it. In fact, if someone else had come up with it, I think I would have liked K*be a little more solely because of the nickname.

In China Kobe is more popular than Yao
Because what he does looks more like “hey, I could do that too”. No you can’t, he is 6’6 and has more athleticism than you could dream of. But he is not 7’6, so it looks more like a skill that could be learned.
As said above, I always liked watching his game, he is undeniably a player with great skills. But I just can’t get over the idea that a great player should also be a great leader who respects his team and does everything possible to help them win as a group. With Kobe, you always have the feeling that he is willing to throw everybody under the bus to make himself look better.
Regarding his nicknames, I think black mamba is fitting when you watch his quick drop step hesitation moves to gain separation from his defender before he goes up for the jumper. Doberman is just stupid, no matter how good he defends.
