Poll Results on Unofficial Blazer Bar

Well, not bad, under 40 responses, if everybody brought a friend or two, it could be lively place.  But three bars voted split fairly equally.  Any ideas?  Rotate every month? Every game?  I'm listening...

I've been to all three bars a number of times, I ate at Ch. Tortoise and Claudias, but not A&L's.  The food was decent, anyone eaten at A&L's?  Claudias and A&L's has pool tables, a game or two before or after the Blazer's game might be a nice add on.

The television viewing might be the best at Claudia's, it feels like a mini theater, and nice bar stools.  A&L's seem the most spacious with lot's of room to walk around.  Cheerful Tortoise probably has the best "bar" atmosphere, but a lot of small TV's.

I think nowadays, HD viewing should be mandatory, it's hard to go back to regular once you've seen HD.  Does anyone know which bar carries HD?

I'd suggest

setting up BE captains at all three bars if they’re on different parts of town.

If not, I’d suggest non-smoking (if available), wireless (if available), other forms of entertainment (if available) and ability to hold a crowd as the criteria. Also… biggest TV will be important.

Take the top two winners, and vote. Add to the poll a measurement of how strongly people feel (very strongly, strongly, slight preference). The votes may be even but not all feelings may be equal.

Just some thoughts. Sounds to me like Claudia’s and A&L are the top two based on what you said.

Just my thoughts though. I’m outta town.

Personally,

I’ll be going to the Tortoise more often than not. This is simply because I live in Tualatin, and it’s the easiest place for me to get to. And for weeknight away games, that’s a big benefit for me. On weekends, however, I’d be way more apt to join a larger group at Claudia’s or A&L. So perhaps it’s best to just go where is best for us, and then designate certain bars for certain games, whether that be weekend away games or the big games. Then we can decide between the three at that time. But to have 3 choices where we know we won’t be the only Blazer fans (or maybe even Bedgers) there is a good thing.

A&L

Has good food. It’s a great atmosphere as well. But I like the idea of having “try-out” nights at the bars as well to see about the t.vs. I think when it comes down to it, that’s gonna be the clincher.

If Mike Rice calls Oden "Odom" this season I might have to seriously hurt him

Claudia's website says

They use DirecTV.

Until an agreement is made with DirecTV and Comcast, what’s the point going there? Besides getting drunk and macking on girls?

Sounds like A&L should be the winner then.

Sorry,

I know I won’t make any of the games until February, unless one of those places is smoke-free.

Utra Sports Bar

FYI: directly across the street from PGE Park a new one-of-a-kind Ultra Sports Bar called The Agency is opening in September. They say it will have wall-to-wall wide screen plasma’s including a 15 plasma chandelier.

Could be cool for when the others are slow.

Sounds interesting

Where did you hear about this place near PGE? It’s right off the Max, and Plasma is always good. Claudia’s is out if they won’t get Blazer games for sure. How is parking at Cheerful Tortoise? It’s not close to Max like A&L or this new place.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
