Court Rivals 8/7/08
It is that time Court Rival fans, time for a new Court Rivals thread! I apologize to everyone that doesn't play court rivals and has no interest in this thread. We are doing our best to cut down on the amount of these that are created and try to maintain all the info in as few threads as possible. Thanks for your patience and understanding, oh and for being TomInHawaii.
Carrying on! Here is the latest Google Player Attribute spreadsheet which was updated on 8/6/08 by the kind and wonderful Jerryd Oden. If you have access and can update your team regularly it would be a great help, and reduce the work of one person.
In the latest BlazersEdge faux-league standings we have a Google League Standing Spreadsheet brought to us by the great Lamarcus Royden. Thanks guys!
Tonight the Bedgers match up with the PooDevils in a college C matchup.
vERRYkERRPLEX takes on Just Blaze in a highly anticipated BlazersEdge league matchup.
Bedgers2 face off against Crownthisteam, CTT is a college A team.
Red Unit drives the lane on Rebel without a cause. RWAC is a team with fillers and should be destroyed.
B-Edge Odenizers show no mercy for the Boondock Ballers. The BB's should be a solid test for the Odenizers.
Blazing the Edge laughs heartily at the Heath Falcons. Blazing the Edge is looking to get on track, and the Falcons look like just the team to do it against.
BlazersEdgers will battle BoA. This looks like a great game that could go either way.

Standings Updated through 8/7
I also added a Matrix so teams can quickly see who they still need to play to finish out the round robin seeding.
Don’t Play any BE team a 2nd time around – this will mess up our playoffs! (see below for details)

Playoff Format & Plans
1) We want to have the playoffs during THIS season, before the reset takes away progress and team chemistries. We’ll need to have this done by about day 41 in case any of our teams make the CR end of season playoffs.
2) We will use the CR challenge system to setup our playoff games. the team who did not issue the challenge during the regular season should be able to issue the regular challenge.
3) We will play the traditional 1v8, 4v5, 2v7, 3v6 1st round, followed by 1/8 vs 4/5 and 2/7 vs 3/6, and finally the championship game. To allow time for possible scheduling snafus, I propose the following schedule:
Quarterfinals – Day 33, Monday, August 25 (26th and 27th if needed)
Semifinals – Day 36, Thursday, August 28 (29th/30th if needed)
Championship: Day 39, Sunday, August 31st
4) Seeding based on W-L against othe BE teams. ties broken 1st by head to head, then by total training points
Rule #1 of nitpicking is to get it right.

I like it....
Really nice thinking. It will take heavy cooperation from every single team though. I think we need representatives from each team to make sure the challenges will be issued and met. Also, we need to make sure every blazersedge team’s challenge list doesn’t have a bunch of unplayed challenges on it, or it will be difficult to make the games happen when we need them to. Great idea by spacing out each round over three days, hopefully that will be enough. Its going to take some cooperation, but I think its the best plan thus far….

make sure all your challenges have been emptied out. kERRpLEX has 2 teams left to play in the round robin.

Our coach apparently doesn't read our CR forum
and has issued only one challenge this season. He is training, but not talking. I don’t know if he’s reading here at BE or not. We’ve posted suggested challenges (with links) but no action. Our hands are tied until he starts communicating.

I LIKE idea things are reset!!!
Some of us are early starters and it gives us a little time to catch-up.
If we can’t do it this season, i say do it next season with the existing teams and just wait until 15 games or so when chemistries are formed.
Or… we can do both seasons, i suppose.
I was just looking forward to the mighty a coming tumbling :)

Also… some of us were also LATE starters. (although technically early starter works too but is confusing with the sentence structure.)

One Problem
The Sim doesn’t always use a challenge to form a match-up, and it doesn’t always use them in the order they were made. For example, BEdgers2 has had an open challenge with BlazersEdgers since 7/26, and we still haven’t been scheduled to play them.
by Steve The Hedge on Aug 8, 2008 8:54 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Challenges are the first to be played
Opponents are assigned in the following order:
1. Challenges
2. Divisional Opponents
3. Conference Opponents
4. Random Opponents
They don’t, however, get played in order because your opponent has to complete their outstanding challenges first. In other words, the challenge that shows as #1 for your team may actually be #5 for the other team. And THAT team’s challenge is dependent on yet another team. Apparently some teams line up lots of challenges because only “most recent 10” are listed. We’re playing kERRPLEX tonight, but they are really #3 on our list – the other 2 teams are college teams so probably have many more challenges.

which is why
1) we’ve added some buffer days
2) the KEY is making sure ALL 8 teams have NO outstanding challenges queued up prior to the playoffs.

We’re going to win! why? Because the announcers can say, spell, and read our name. they all tend to appreciate that.
Nice to have another tough battle to step up for.
I’ve given up on expecting great things from RB, but the team is winning, and that’s what’s most important.

I get the impression
That once you get to the elite levels players team hop. I don’t know if teams recruit directly, but that’s one reason they are instituting team chemistries (as opposed to two-player chems) – to reward the teams that stay together.
Who would do the trading?

last night's results
Bedgers match up with the PooDevils in a college C matchup:
BEdegers lose 102-105. Too many offensive rebounds given up in this game. Vanilla Gorilla gets 5 blocks.
vERRYkERRPLEX takes on Just Blaze in a BlazersEdge league matchup.
Joachim Padraic paces Just Blaze with 12-17 shooting for 29 points. Final 130-89.
Slappy Pryzbilla gets 16 rebounds for vERRYkwhatever.
Bedgers2 face off against Crownthisteam, CTT is a college A team.
BEdgers2 lose a close one 95-103. Billy Ray Johnson gets a double-double in the loss.
Red Unit drives the lane on Rebel without a cause. RWAC is a team with fillers and should be destroyed.
Red Unit breaks away in the third to make this a blowout 130-75, albeit against 5 non-corporeal players. Jay Acer is the high scorer with 26.
B-Edge Odenizers show no mercy for the Boondock Ballers. The BB’s should be a solid test for the Odenizers.
Poor shooting does in the Odenizers. Final 89-98.
Blazing the Edge laughs heartily at the Heath Falcons. Blazing the Edge is looking to get on track, and the Falcons look like just the team to do it against.
95-75 for a win against 9 non-corporeals.
BlazersEdgers will battle BoA. This looks like a great game that could go either way.
Blazers Edgers lose 84-126 against a very strong team. Joey Bigdeel gets a double-double.

Game preview for Aug 9th
Blazing the Edge plays PTT Villagers, a strong team on a 7 game win streak.
vERRYkERRPLEX plays Obstination, a team close to them in strength and on a 6 game win streak.
Just Blaze play Hometown Ballas, a weak team inexplicably on an 8 game win streak. Leo the Great earlier today guaranteed a win for Just Blaze. We’ll see if this quote provides some whiteboard motivation for Hometown Ballas with it’s 6 non-corporeal players.
B Edge Odenizers again play the Blazers, a non-BE team that they won against earlier in the season. The Blazers were until recently a college D team.
In a BE division game, Red Unit plays BEdgers2. Red Unit’s 3 game win streak will be severely tested against the college C level BEdgers2.
Blazers Edgers play Pearland Dragons in matchup against a decent playground team on a 5 game win streak.
EDgers play Live Oak Eagles, a Pro C team that has already beaten two BE teams this season.

Red Unit
is severely underrated. Our guards are superb; there’s not a single weakpoint in the backcourt. Jay Acer, probably our biggest star, averages 19.4 ppg and 6.0 rpg. All of our point guards are great passers and good scorers (over 10 ppg each), and with the new pickup of Frank N. Stein at the 4 spot Red Unit looks to test new chemistries and pull all the potential together into a team.

We(BEdgers) are playing you guys tonight
I was checking out your team and it appears you have a pretty solid team. You only lost to BEdgers2 by one point and they have more TC points than we do. It should be a close game…

If you are interested in playing for a CR team
you can create and start training your player now. You don’t have to be on a team to have a player. If you start training now rather than waiting till the start of the season you’ll be ahead of the game (pardon the sports cliche) as not all of your credits will be rolled back.
I’m guessing that the new season might see some dropouts, especially those going back to school. It’s pretty time intensive at the first of the season and I’d hate to see kids playing this rather than keeping up with homework!
No promises, of course, but it can’t hurt. Who knows, there may be even more BE teams.

Your training regimen is inspirational. Your point total is catching up to one who has been on the team since Day 1.

Considering
we lost three players during the first six games of the season which means losing their training points,(and having a five game losing streak during that readjustment period) having two players go on week long vacations, another forgetting to take his laptop on a long weekend, etc etc. I think you are right about getting the rhythm going.
After all, which team holds the record for the BE League’s longest win streak??? JUST BLAZE at 8 and counting… (hee, I first typed in 28 – maybe I know something that I don’t know I know???)

#3 What do Rudy Royriguez and Pubert Jones have to do to get some love???
We have lead our team to an undefeated league record and happened to put a 57 point beat down on that pg tandem you speak of. We are the Rodney Dangerfield of the BEdge league, we just can’t get no respect! :)

We in the BE league media
can hardly be expected to factor in strength of schedule, team record, and head to head matchups in making our judgements, but merely note that vERRYkERRPLEX’s PGs average 12.7 assists, while BEdger’s PGs average 12.1 assists.
Respect will come with a little stat padding :)

hehe
Stat padding isn’t in our makeup, we got a team full of Brandon Roy’s character wise. I can handle being the Celtics of the BEdge league, if it means a championship come playoff time ;)
Thanks for your reports by the way, I was just playing around with ya…

Only one left to challenge Just Blaze
We’ve played:
VK
B-Edge Odenizers
BEdgers
BEdgers2
BlazersEdgers are on our cue
We’ve challenged Red Unit
That leaves Blazing the Edge as our only outstanding team to play.

You are also the oldest on Just Blaze’s list of pending. (I believe you challenged us on 7/31 – that’s the date that’s shown.)

one thing you can do is stop giving out/accepting challenges.

It looks like every game they have played
has been a challenge so they may have a really long list to get through. We have pending challenges, but apparently we aren’t up too high on those teams lists so we are still getting a lot of computer picked opponents. I suppose the only time challenges are scheduled is when the two teams are at the top of both lists.
