UPDATED: Let's make Blazer's history at the home opener!

"First, hello again to all of you! I'm back from my self-imposed exile to see if anybody wants to go to the opener with group tickets. I asked about this on the center column in Dave's thread about BE Night, but I think it got too confusing over there. So, listen up: for those of you who, like me, do NOT have full or partial season tickets ...

Group tickets can be purchased now, whereas individual ones will not go on sale until next fall, when the Spurs game will surely be sold out. Therefore, I am willing to buy a group of tickets if we can get at least 10 people to commit to going. The $25 range seems most attractive to those who've so far responded.

I would buy the tickets and then meet you before the game at some designated spot outside the Rose Garden. You'd give me your $25 and I'd give you your ticket. And then ... !!!

So come on, BEdgers, don't you want to be there when Greg Oden is introduced to his home crowd at his first ever regular season NBA game? Do you think there has ever been a sound as loud as what that audience is going to make? It's gonna be something to tell your kids and their kids.

Please let me know if you're seriously interested in going. I'd like to order the tickets real soon."

Clarifications and corrections

* The tickets for $25 would be in the purple sections, not yellow as I think I mentioned somewhere.

* The seats will not be reserved until Aug. 18. However, it is important to be on their list of interested groups as soon as possible. I have put done $100 in order to be on that list.

* There is a (slim, I think) possibility that the $25 tickets may be sold out when they get to our group during the reservation process. I have to tell them what to do If that happens. My Plan B is to go for the $19 tickets. I don't have a Plan C.

Progress or the lack of it

Thusfar, I have only received email from tominhawaii, MT Suit, 12sharks, ratbastird, somebody whose screen name I don't know, and Corvid, who is still up in the air. With these people, I will have at least my minum 10 covered.

I'm still waiting to get email from shteveo, rippedcity, resurrect_ha28, ptwnblzr, and twiggs. If you really want to go with us, please send me email by midnight tonight, Blazers time.

Me and Mr. Corvid were just talking about going to this game over dinner tonight. We went to the home openers last year and the year before that. They were GREAT. So anyway, that’s two of us who are interested. Let me know if you need a e-mail addy or something.

If you can get them, then I’m in. Otherwise I’m going to have to pay in the $50-$60 range and I’m planning on doing that soon if I don’t get another option.

Okay, we're at critical mass

I could get more tickets, but if everybody that has responded so far want s to go, then, including my wife and me, we have 13. That seems like a nice round, lucky number! Here is my list at this time:

My email address is now posted in my profile. For newbies, click on my avatar photo to see it. Please confirm your intentions via email to me today, and I will order the tickets.

Advance arrangements - before the game, that is - are possible, in which case you send me a money order and I send you the ticket VIA US MAIL, ONLY. The reason I say this is that there’s a post office near where I work and it would be easy to mail the tickets. For UPS or FedEx, I’d have to drive somewhere and I’m not gonna do that. The post office has insurance and registered mail options, of course. And, natch, you’d have to send me money to cover shipping. The original idea, which I am okay with, is simply for me to show up at the Rose Garden with tickets and have you all pay me then. Still, things could go wrong at the last minute, so you may want to have tickets in hand before. Your call.

We will get the $25, yellow tickets. I will try to find the best available block. If anybody has ideas about where seating is better or worse in this price range, please let me know.

Exact plans about where and when to meet will be discussed later on, and will probably depend on where the seats are. We’ll stay in touch, okay?

Finally, if all of you do confirm and there are more people who want in on this, I suggest that somebody else arrange a similar deal. Other than being able to afford a temporary deficit of about $200, it seems pretty straightforward.

I will post here again to formally close the window on this thing as soon I get your emails.

I know you set the limit, but i’ve decided i want to fly in as this is a must watch game. Besides, I’ve never been to opening night and I want to be in the loud section. I definitely don’t want to wait for the tickets.

I suppose failing that I’ll just buy group tickets myself and others can buy from me when I’m in town.

but two things are happening (or not happening) right now: (1) other folks are emailing me saying they want in on this, and (2) most of those who posted here have NOT emailed me.

I probably can’t buy a group of more than 20 tickets because they might not have ‘em and because I don’t want to have that much potential liability. So …

My friend and I would be in, but we haven’t been told what the Half-season ticket split is, therefore we don’t know if we have first game tix or not. Does anyone know which games are with what package?

I might be interested, or people I know will be interested might be interested…we bought four season tix with three other couples, so four of us are going to miss out. I HAVE to be there on opening night, so I’d possibly buy in just for insurance (we’re picking games out of a hat). We’ll know who’s going to what game by Sunday, so I’ll e-mail you by then if I’m in. I wish I could be there...

... but I am stuck going to a wedding in New York that my wife is a bridesmaid in… I also have to miss a Seahawks game that weekend, too.

I just know that when G.O. throws down his first dunk in front of the RG crowd, that place is going to go nuts. My first game this season won’t be until 11/8 against Minnesota (excluding the pre-season.)

SO SORRY!!!

I usually am not a flake and just saw this post. Consider me out, I was able to get 1/4 season tickets today and it includes opening night…if you guys go for beers before/after let me know! I bought quarter tickets for only myself (which is ok because Blazer fans are like family).
