Props to my national team

Star-divide

Hey all

Just wanted to give some props to my national team Australia for their performance against USA. I was impressed that it was only a 10 point loss considering we haven't won against USA in international ball. Considering Bogut wasn't playing, although I don't think he would of made a difference to the result, I came away impressed.

I have seen a few people say how bad USA played but I must note Australia almost knocked off a full strangth Argentina team a few days before this game losing 94-91 and that was also with Bogut not playing most of the second half, so things aren't that bad for USA.

Biggest  thing USA will have to get around is FIBA zone defence, commentators (was watching ESPN) last night ( my time) were saying how NBA is more the one on one and isolation plays where that doesn't really happen a whole heap with FIBA rules. FIBA zone you can have a guy stand under the ring the whole time even if there isn't anyone near him

Another  thing USA will need to adjust to is the nick nack fouls that are called with FIBA rules as apposed to NBA, alot more cheap ones will be called in the Olympics.

Anyways bring on the Olymipcs, I am very much looking forward to the USA v Spain game so I can finally get a decent look at Rudy play.

Have fun all.

Big time props to the Australian team

I was very negative towards the US Team in my posts below, but you have to give Australia a lot of credit. I was disappointed that the US didn’t move the ball on offense, instead choosing to play one on one basketball. However, its still awfully tough to guard LeBron, Kobe, Wade and Carmelo one on one, and the Aussies did a good job. Australia also did a great job in their halfcourt offense. When they were able to avoid turnovers, they consistently got good looks on offense and knocked them down.

I very much enjoyed watching Newley, Anderson and Mills in particular. Good luck to Australia—I would think they will advance into the medal round and are a contender for a medal. They would do well to try to win their group so they can avoid Spain, Greece and the US in the quarterfinals.

Thanks for stopping by and posting, Bairdy.

Good to see...

that we actually managed NOT to get blown away as compared to previous encounters with Team USA! Goodluck to the Boomers and lets bring home a medal!

You guys will be tough if Bogut ever does play!

Asked his specialty in the kitchen, Oden paused and said, "Hamburger Helper and tuna fish."

I reckon...

that the Aussie national team will have some success with the talented blokes on their team. (the preceding was presented in SloppyJoe’s best Australian accent).

Which part of Oz are you from? I have a good buddy in Brisbane. Which, as I once learned, is corrrectly pronounced BRIZ-ben, not Briz-BANE.

It’s too bad Luke Schenser isn’t on the team!

Is Australia New Zealand's Canada?

P.S. Bairdy, I’m just playing. One of my best mates is a bloke from Australia.

That's not a knife, this a knife

I’m not a Tolken fan, but Lord of the Rings > Crocodile Dundee.

“Did the dingo eat your baby?” is another fun thing to say in an Australian accent.

BTW, check out Flight of the Conchords for many New Zealand being Australia’s armpit jokes.
