Which center would you rather have on your team Dime Poll
There is a poll over at http://dimemag.com/ that asks what player you would rather have on your team:
Greg Oden
Andrew Bynum
Andrew Bogut
Tyson Chandler
Chris Kaman
Andris Biedrins
I voted for Oden, duh. All the L*ker fans Bynum band wagoners must be pulling their hair out over Oden blowing him out of the water. Hopefully you guys will all contribute. It's on the right side bar on the main page, just go to Dimemag.com

Greg O has more than Chandler and Bynum combined

I can't believe people have voted for anyone besides oden and bynum.

Chandler deserves a few votes
But I thought Chandler played mostly PF last year. That other big dude played center most of the time, didn’t he?

ok
Thank you for the clarification. Chandler and West complement each other very well.

yeah
I agree with you there totally, but I bet for the 2008/2009 season chandler/west will have better combined stats. Oden/Aldridge still have a ways to go, but I would take them in that choice in a heartbeat.

right
in 3 years, I think Oden will be way ahead of Chandler. Chandler is probably the most athletic 7 footer in the league and probably the best offensive rebounder, but I think Oden will be much better down the line on both ends of the floor. I watched Tyson play against the Blazers last year and he usually got flustered. I don’t see that happening to Greg.

Andris Biedrins
deserves some votes

Andris is fine
And I’m curious as to how he’ll do without a real PG like Baron Davis to give him easy baskets. He’s a real low-skill but good hands type guy, pretty athletic too.
HOWEVER, this is a poll where you pick one you’d most want to have and there are several on that list I would select before Andris.
Not that he is bad of course; he’s very young and is very efficient. He’ll be a good center for a long time.

Okay, come on...
Which one of you voted for Andris Biedrins?
Jerryd Bayless has two emotions: Kill and Win.

The owner of the GSW, who has to justify all the expenses in his mind
And he asked a few of his employees to do so, too.
Seriously, I think Biedrins is undervalued by a lot of fans and is a nice starting center who will average a double-double for the rest of his career, but he will never be a dominating center. I would be more worried about having just given Bogut a huge contract after seeing him in the Olympics…
Odenied: Asked whether he noticed Oden favoring his right knee, Frye dismissed it entirely. "He favors dunking on your head, that's what he favors."

yeah he can get a double double
but it doesn’t feel like he affects the game a whole lot. He seems too passive . its a weak double double if you know what i mean

Notice its say "which player would you rather have on your team"
in which case we can’t vote for Oden because we already have him on our team.
That must explain the Bogut votes.

but...
just because he is on our team doesnt change anything. I can still say I would rather have oden than bogut even though oden is on our team…if it said “which player would you rather have added to your team” it would be a different story.

Hey Oden is cleaning up
He has nearly twice as many votes as everyone else combined.
I guess the fans league wide hadn’t forgotten Oden like some of us assumed, right? We ain’t sneaking up on nobody! Bah, phooey!
Even if all 200 votes are just us, I still like seeing Oden win. Today, the dimemag.com poll.
Tomorrow, THE WORLD!

We could see this scene repeat this year against Phoenix
In the championship game of the USA Basketball Youth Development Festival, Oden set himself at the center of the lane and sealed off 6-11 Robin Lopez, a Stanford recruit from Fresno, Calif. As Oden shuffled closer to the goal, he accepted an entry pass and then emphatically hook-dunked home his team’s first two points. This was not a basket; it was a declaration.
Odenied: Asked whether he noticed Oden favoring his right knee, Frye dismissed it entirely. "He favors dunking on your head, that's what he favors."

At this moment in time
Given current statistics and injuries, if I had to play tomorrow, I would select Chandler first, followed by Biedrins and maybe Kaman. All three of these guys are a definite upgrade over our beloved Joel Przybilla.
Of course, this poll probably suggests “potential,” which is not yet an empirically measurable statistic unless you count the media and fan enthusiasm. In that case, as the poll shows — Oden wins in a landslide.
