2008-2009 Team Introduction

However trivial this matter is, the season anticipation has me wondering what order the starting five will be introduced in when the home opener kicks off????

I am interested in who you think will come out of the huddle last in that time honored tradition of your #1 guy?????  Will the excitement of Oden be too much to place him anywhere else but fifth??????  Or does Brandon deserve the respect of the fifth slot based on his phenomenol perfromance and clear position as the squad leader?

I never realized there was any signifigance. I should pay more attention, but I

would have to say they would go with Brandon, just because he’s, well, Brandon.

If I know Roy...

…and I think I do, he will want Oden in that last spot. Especially on the opening day spot. GO may not want that himself but someone has to be the last guy.

Oden

because the first four guys to be intro’d represent the team we had last season and then bringing Greg in at the end represents the team we have this season.

The fans will want to save their biggest cheer for Greg, to welcome him to the team.

The intro order will be Blake, Webster, Aldridge, Roy, and Oden, with the cheers growing louder with each intro.

Asked his specialty in the kitchen, Oden paused and said, "Hamburger Helper and tuna fish."

being the first home game...

they’ll probably announce the whole team, probably with the starters being the last five.

Big O

and the Rose Garden will go freakin’ bananas.

"Starting at center, number fifty-two..."

Let me think about this. Why do I read Oden’s blog every other day? Why do I check news site several times a week and google “Greg Oden”? Why did I watch Oden doing pilates teasers with Kim Reis? Why did I register at least ten views on the YouTube video of Oden’s first two-on-twos?

Why would I do any of these things, if I weren’t totally excited about Oden’s return, and totally scared that things might fall apart all over again? All of that will be eclipsed when he steps onto the court for the first time, quite literally the moment we have all waited for. Blazersaurus is right, by the way: Brandon Roy will be happy to defer to Oden if only to honor the work he has put into recovery.

Of course I love Rudy Fernandez. I’m all right with Jerryd Bayless. Yet we can’t forget the reason why we were jumping up and down a little over a year ago. The big G-O.

Chills...

If thinking about Greg Oden being announced in the first home game of the year next season doesn’t give you chills, then something is wrong with you…

Greg Oden will be announced last and he’ll receive the loudest ovation in the history of Portland… Not even just the Rose Garden… He’ll get an ovation at the Rose Garden, at every Sports Bar in town, and in every house that tunes into Blazers games…

If this was Detroit, we’d be flipping over cars and ransacking The Shane Company.

It has to be Oden

It’ll be the most anticipated first game of any Blazer in recent memory. Really, we’ve been waiting to hear Oden’s name announced FOREVER! He’ll be last, I’ll be there, there better be chants of “ODEN! ODEN! ODEN!”

OK

I voted for ROY, but after reading the comments, I am convinced. Oden will be last, and I love it!

Yeah I voted for Roy too

Now I have changed my mind. Man I can’t wait to see this happen!!!

Oden hands down

For the home opener, it’s a sure thing.

I could see them going back to Roy being last after that, but I’d still be willing to bet it’s Oden

Rule #1 of nitpicking is to get it right.

Has too be Rudy

He’d the only one who accomplished anything this summer. The rest of the Blazers just sat around doing squat while Rudy won a silver metal in the Olympics.

by tominhawaii on Aug 27, 2008 12:27 PM PDT reply actions

Say squat?!

by MiledAnimal on Aug 27, 2008 12:46 PM PDT reply actions

I don't know...

But I don’t think they would call out an expiring contract…it just doesn’t make any sense.

by ghostdog on Aug 27, 2008 1:46 PM PDT reply actions

First of all, wouldn't it imply that he is our starting center against San Antonio?

As I understood the post and voting it’s about the starting five being called to the floor. So yeah, even if Oden had the cold this day I would still expect him to start…

Odenied: Asked whether he noticed Oden favoring his right knee, Frye dismissed it entirely. "He favors dunking on your head, that's what he favors."

Too easy.....

Oden. That’s who’s getting hyped the most.

I noticed your name. My friend and I actually met Dontonio Wingfield in the parking garage. My friend thought he was J.R. Rider! He started yelling, “Alright J.R.! You go get the Sonics tonight! We’re cherrin’ for you Rider!!” I thought Wingfield was going to mop the floor with both of us! He went up to my friend and was saying,“Who am I? Who am I?” Luckily Snapper Jones came walking by, I said, “Hey Steve Jones! We listen to you every game!” Wing. Was shaking his head and walked off. So….Steve Jones saved my life! I was kind of funny later though.

My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

by OCBlazerFan1 on Aug 27, 2008 3:49 PM PDT reply actions

HAHA

Yeah Dontonio was one scary looking dude…….a parking garage would be the last place I would want to meet up with that guy. Although I seem to remember Gary Trent beat the crap out of a friend of his in front of a bunch of kids at a youth center in the middle of the day so no place was safe from the antics of those knuckleheads!!!!!

These memories just make me that much more thankful for the outstanding group of guys KP has assembled.

In the darkest years I always liked to recall how after an amazing playoff win against the Suns in the Playoffs in 1990 in which TP led an amazing comeback……he was in the stands with the crowd high-fiving and celebrating for a while and the crowd was just ecstatic……..I know how much fun it can be to win and truly love the team that is winning!!!! I cant wait for the next 5 years……

TP FOR 3

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
