Hey! Kevin Pritchard! HEY PRITCHAAAARRRRD! Yeah, YOU!!! READ THIS POST!
[speaking to the BEdgers now]
Okay. So Kevin Pritchard may or may not read Blazers Edge; even if he does, there's still the question of how frequently, and how thoroughly.
But just suppose he does: Why should he sift through all our trash to find what he may consider pertinent? He's a bizzay dood! So whaddya say we make this easy on him, all righty?
Anything any of you would like for him to read in particular, throw it down here, in a reply to this post. Maybe it's opinions on who to keep, who to trade, who to get, who NOT to get; maybe it's non-roster Blazers advice; maybe it's just a fan's-eye viewpoint or analysis, without pushing for or against any particular action; maybe it's a big fat "thank you"; maybe it's a spilling of hopes and/or fears; maybe it's a question that you know he's never gonna answer (at least not to you); maybe it's some OT, as-a-person chitty-chat; maybe you wanna offer bribes; maybe you wanna tell a lame joke. Maybe not.
But, Mr. Pritchard, sir: If you're reading this, <sarcasmfont>thank you for RECOGNIZING your OWN NAME when you see it</font>, and I bear no responsibility for what garbage follows in the comments.

No way Porter shouldn’t be honored! Here are his career Blazers stats
758 games (633 starts), 31.6 MPG, 14.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.5 steals, 2.5 TO’s, 47.1 FG%
Who does this guy think he is?

Dude ...
Did Porter really average 7 assists vs 2.5 turnovers during his entire career? Holy crap. I remember him being damn good, but wow. We need a time machine. Get him on this squad again!
Those steals were always a treat too.

Isn't that less than 3-1?
And isn’t 3-1 the kind of minimum for a great PG?

My brother got me a Travis Outlaw jersey last year. You couldn’t even order one from the NBA store. It had to be custom and was like $90. If you trade my favorite (but fading to second with Channing Frye making a strong push) player I will be mad.
wow
I’m surprised we’ve made it this far without anyone throwing in a “kill blaze the trail cat” comment. Ummmm can you cut out the adult tricycle races during timeouts? I mean, some of the stuff that goes on during those times are kinda entertaining and I guess that annoying guy with the microphone would be out of a job but maybe we could just enjoy the break sometimes. Also, I’m not one of the psychos that put small children around them at risk by diving for flying t shirts but one time I actually caught one. Yeah, it was pretty cool until I unwrapped it and saw that it was a Wellsfargo t shirt. Awesome. Wellsfargo. maybe mix in some actual blazer merchandise in there.
Lets see…I may be on my own on this one but I always thought the opening “pump the crowd up” video sucked last year, so I’m hoping for an improvement this season, especially since there should be sellouts almost every night. Like, how hard would it be to tailor the video to the opponent? Maybe before a laker game show Odom shoving Broy to the ground from last season. Or before Phoenix show Shaq driving Joel’s face into the hardwood. A knicks game with a Zbo mugshot. You know, get creative. Oh, and maybe a little bit more team access for the fans. Bring back an open practice or two for this upcoming training camp. Shoot, hold an open tryout for the 15th roster spot (Luke Jackson? seriously?).
Asked whether he noticed Oden favoring his right knee, Frye dismissed it entirely.
"He favors dunking on your head, that's what he favors," Frye said after giving up his share to Oden in the workout.
I once got a ticket from the blimp
And it was an ugly Miller Paint hat, I felt kind of screwed.
I like your idea of tailoring the introductions to every team, I would totally donate my time to making them every game just for game tickets. Even though, personally I liked the raining intro just not the comic book one.

featured adults racing on giant exercise balls with the little handle on the top. The race was similar to the trikes, and I’m guessing they switched because one gal bounced herself right out of her blouse during the race! And that’s how Blaze’s tail got the way it is.

Dear Mr. Pritchard:
Please make the Blazers as Portland as possible.
I’ve mentioned it here before, but I’d love for Blazer games at the Rose Garden to have
a 100% Portland music policy; I’m sure any local record shop owner or local music DJ would love to help,
and curate a playlist of game-worthy Portland music.
Also, you might want to extend Channing Frye before the Hallowe’en deadline to do so.
There’s been some talk here that his need for playing time stands in the way of that.
I don’t buy it, but I’m sure a pay level above a typical backup power forward’s worth might help.
Hey, it beats having him hit his triple-rookie-salary cap hold. And he should NOT be traded.
Also, it seems this will be the season where the demand for tickets finally goes back above (WAY above)
what’s available in Rose Garden seats over 82 games, plus playoffs.
What this means is, there will be hundreds of people every game (and growing)
who are willing to shell out RG-seat money, but can not have a Rose Garden seat for that.
They need to be accomodated; plan for special places to view Blazer games around town,
above and beyond the Sports Bar thingy that’s okay for “normal” teams.
Remember, Portland used to pack the Mission Theater for games.
They should be able to do so once again.
In particular, Blazer fans should be encouraged to watch the Blazers in public, amongst each other,
and not be relegated to a solitary experience, replicated all over the region a thousandfold.
Time to engineer mass Blazer game viewings outside of the arena.
And thank you for your good work.

+1 on Frye
He’s extremely valuable and should be paid. Here’s a bizarre statement most people will dismiss as ludicrous – he may turn out to be a more effective PF than LMA. Judging by “win score,” LMA is one of the most overrated players in the league. (Although this writer predicted the Blazers would finish at the bottom of the WC last year, apparently win score indicates other guys – Blake, Pryz – accounted for the unexpected step up, and LMA failed to improve.) Hey, I’m just the messenger (and like all stats, win score is merely one way to evaluate performance), and he’s just a second year player, so all is not lost. But Frye must be retained.
Bayless isn't the second coming of Jordan.
Jordan was the first coming of Bayless.
"he may turn out to be a more effective PF than LMA" Wow. I can come out of the closet on this one.
Before today I had only said that to my dad and brother, but I think it may well be the case.
allright everybody,

true
but if the front line is an example of the general, or the workers are an example of the management, or the son an example of the father, then I would have to assume that nate, like most of us, is responsible to carry out the will of his supiriors. he might have earned the profetional privalidge to think for himself in many concerns, but I would guess that he at least understands the importance of listening when KP offers input. of course, i reserve the right to be wrong with any and all assumptions i might make(like this one). I just don’t think I am.

And yes, if at all possible, please reduce the level of Arena shmaltz and shtick, as the folks above specified. PDX tunes sound great.
Give Luke "the tall hobbit: Jackson a chance.
Also, I love the idea of Oden working with a hall of fame center, as Yao has done with Ewing, and Bynum with Kareem. Is Bill Russell free, or is he shooting another sappy ad with KG?
TRADE COMCAST!!
Put some pressure on those guys to get it figured out. There are long time fans who stood by this team through the most frustrating times, when it wasn’t cool to be a Blazer fan, who would drive for hours to get to the Rose Garden and spend there hard earned money for tickets just to see the team of thugs get blown out who can not see every game on TV. Fans who watch games on choppy 2 inch windows on their computer via the internet because they love this team with a passion and can’t stand to miss a game and Comcast won’t sell to them. Fans who would work minimum wage jobs and buy Blazer merchandise only to have to put up with "Jail Blazer" and "They suck" from people who see them wear it. The Blazers have the best fans in the NBA, and many of them are being punished. I know because its all me and my family. Family has been season ticket holders since 1975.

KP has his hands full dealing with all the player-coach-team operation. Mike Golub is gone and he was our best hope. Sad season coming up again with no ability to see the games. (But I do appreciate the 6-8 games on national TV). Eight more years of deprivation appears to be our fate in Central Oregon.

ODEN TRAINING!
For goodness sake, you have a center with hall of fame potential! Get him the best most specialized training. Whether it’s Bill Russell, Hakeem or how about Bill Walton? He was one of the most fundamentally skilled centers to ever play.
Whoever is the best at training in the post, whether they are famous or not find them and pay them, otherwise you waste an amazing opportunity.
Instructions from the future ruler of the world
Dear KP,
You know your job, you don’t need me to tell you how to do it. That’s why I pulled the strings to have PA hire you.
As you know, I also pulled the strings in the draft for us to get Brandon and LMA, jobbed the lottery to get Greg, told Isiah he had to take Zach off our hands, made Phoenix sell you the Rudy pick, persuaded Larry to agree to that trade for the #11 pick, rigged the draft to make Jerryd fall to #11, and screwed over San Antonio so you could get Batum.
We’ve got a good deal going here. You just keep letting me know what you want, and I’ll use my powers of persuasion on other GMs to make it happen. So far, we’re on a role — two of them, actually. Your role is to make the deals, my role is to make the other GMs roll over. Actually, there’s a third role, the guy who spends the money.
Tell PA to buy a Euro team where we can stash our Euro players, teach them our system, and get them out of contracts when we want.
Tell him also to buy a D League team. We don’t really need one for anything, but the bragging rights of winning the D League, the Euro trophies, and the NBA all in the same year is something worth pursuing. Next, he should buy a nation, so we can win the Olympics as well. Remember what they said about Rudy, he wanted to come join the Blazers as they “pursue everything”.
Keep up the good work.
Sincerely,

My wife condescended to watch the gold medal game and when the camera flashed on David Stern I said to her “there is the Czar of the whole world”. She looked quizicly at me and I said “David Stern – he rules the world: just ask him”. She laughed but it is no laughing matter to me. Look what he did to Tibet.

Thank you for all that you do
Dear God,
It's me, Twiggs.
Please, oh please, let Brandon Roy have a speedy recovery.
Us Blazer fans don't ask for much in this life. All we want is our team to be healthy (and win). You would really be doing a service to us if you had him bounce back in a few weeks (without pushing it). I promise I won't ask for anything ever again (until the regular season anyhow).
Thank you,
Twiggs
What you don't do
What you do is amazing. Really good moves. Very smart, studied and opportunistic on the fly. I really like what you don’t do even more. While opportunistic, you are no trader bob, which is strictly meant as a compliment. We have a recognizable team now, and that helps the fan form an identity.
That said, it seems obvious to many on BEdge that something will have to give, past the Jack trade. You are probably hoping that something will happen at the 3, that Travis will step up or that will show enough to make up for the fact that he is by nature more of a SG. With the core we have now — to me this includes all the guards but Sergio and the big men up to and definitely including Frye — we obviously need something at the 3 to complement the immense strengths we have at every other spot. I have complete faith in you that you will find the right time to pull the trigger, for the right reasons. Whether its to get us another all-star caliber talent or to get the right complementary player, such as a dead eye shooter or a complete all-around and hustle player like Shane Battier. It was a shame to see JJ go, but I trust that it will all come out for the better. Whether this occurs sooner with a can’t miss opportunity or more likely later after things shake out, we are counting on you Kevin to do the best you can for this team.
As others have said, thank you. And best of luck on that unbeaten streak.

Send Blaze to the Pound and...
Chrischa – I’m totally with you on everything you said.
Loose the trailcat first and foresmost. A close second is to fix the pre-game hype video. If there has to be a video at all (which I’m not convinced of) it should be either highlights of classic Blazer moments, or tailored to the opponent ie: Odom shoving Roy to the ground last year or whatever it might be – something that would actually get the fans truly fired up – not just that intensely loud opera music that every freaking team in the NBA uses. Finally, bring back Snapper Jones and add him as the third member of the broadcast crew – Barrett, Rice, and Jones. That would be fun to listen to each week. Oh ya, and get the games on DirecTV. This all assumes of course that KP is Czar of the TrailBlazers organization and not merely the GM.
Keep modest and LISTEN TO YOUR FANS
You have done a great job bringing talent to this team thru trades and thru the draft. I just hope you stay polite to other GM’s, dont remind them you swindled them, and accept praise with humility. Any boastful bragging of deals you ripped off anyone OTHER THAN ISIAH (go ahead on that one, the whole league will laugh) should be kept to yourself. If you want to keep making unbelievable trades for us, people have to know you have your team at heart but also ethics while doing it.. (hopefully this happened with the charlotte/indiana fiasco)
secondly,
listen to your fans. We are one of the only sports team in the history of sports to TRULY alter a teams roster by boycott and protest. We have power as a fanbase, and its your responsibility as a good business man to recognize that. Make poor decisions and we stay away, make good ones and we spend money like crazy. Just remember as always that your clients (us) pay your salary. We want winners and we want someone to be proud of. So far so good, just don’t lose that idea.
Thank you for all you have done…

Just keep on, keepin’ on.
Continue putting the players and fans first, remember patience, and communication. Both of you are going to be heralded as front office deities soon enough; always remember you guys formed this team through management teamwork, doing your homework, and allowing open communcations from your coaches, scouts, and management types.
Basically, just always remember what works, because it will continue to work.
Thank you for doing an amazing job. Even without the luck of getting Oden (luck I say we created by turning things around), you guys were forming a great team. All we need is time.
Oh, and make sure LMA knows he is beloved. Roy will get much attention, and we all know Oden is already a international celebrity. We don’t want LMA to feel left out. Put him out in the public eye, advertise him (the MIP cartoon/website was a great touch), make sure HE knows how important he is to the team and to the city.
They all seem like great kids, but if a great player feels like he doesn’t get his due, things could sour over time.
Of course, you know all of this. Please, both of you stay with us for a long time, and keep as much of your front office/scouting team intact as possible. I know other NBA teams will be cherry picking the scouts and assistant coaches soon enough, but do your best.
We got complete faith in you. Thank you, again.

Oh yeah
Remember that the grass isn’t always greener. We love you here and the team you helped make. Don’t go running off to a team like the NYK or LAL because they are in bigger markets. Dumars and Popovich are great reasons why.
Thanks again..

Don't trade Travis.
Don’t trade Travis. Big part of our team. We have many good parts to this team. Let’s keep the good and add to it.

don't trade anyone
of course, Raef and his Magic Contract have to go. but what do we really need? which player hasn’t improved each year since we’ve had him? right, Sergio. who could still prove the sceptics wrong with meaningful minutes alongside his old pal Rudy. could happen—give it a chance, then don’t look back. veteran presence? they’re all going to be “veterans” in another year. keep them together. the sky is the limit for this team. what depth! Raef could be a 20 minute guy anywhere else. who else could put together a team like this? we are blessed.
One more miracle and you pick Ricky Rubio for the pleasure of this Spanish Blazer fan.

I am with you on this
but lets not beat the drum too loud while KP is not interested and doing his mind control magic on the weak minded.

HEY KP. You want to speed up the bake time on that cake of yours?
I have just the oven for you. The new TP 22 is just the oven for you. It is also known in some parts as the Tayshaun Prince #22.
Hmmmmmm. #22. I have fond memories of that number.
I'm a little confused by your tactics

Never trade Rudy please. The guy is sick from everywhere on the floor, yet in a good way ;-)

Start stockpiling draft picks
We have a good team and if we need to move anybody we might as well build towards the future. Portland is going to be out of the lottery for the next 5-10 years. You’ve done most of your magic in the draft. Let’s start trading for future #1 picks from what look like future lottery teams. Imagine not just building a championship dynasty, but one that doesn’t have to rebuild, because we keep grabbing future starters 2-3 years before we need them with other teams picks.
Win now and win later.
He already started to listen ;-)
The Portland Trail Blazers received the Nuggets’ 2009 second round pick, New York’s 2009 second round pick (via Chicago) and Chicago’s 2010 second round pick in draft day trades this year. I guess we will continue this path of exchanging picks we don’t really need into better future picks. And then there is still the SPAM tactic to buy a pick or two leading up to the draft.

Paul Buy a Euro Team
For all of those extra players we have. Then, we could be Europeon Champions and NBA Champions.
And just think. The Euro Team’s contracts would have only $1 buy out clauses for the Blazers.
Dear Mr Pritchard
Apologies for the tenor of the title. You don’t owe us anything and we all respect you so very much. Name one other fan site where there is no grumbling about their GM! Nothing but love and appreciation and praise from here.
When I read you were coming to Portland I was uplifted because having a KU grad here is pure gold. You have certainly proven that out. And even better an NCAA champion and multiple NBA championships as player and as a member of the Spurs to boot. You know how to win. You clearly have stayed true to your goals and we applaud you. When you fall down we will remember these wonderful graceful triple-loop-quadruple-somersault-360-twisting dunks and your sticking the landing every time as proof that there are more to come and help you up again. Thank you.
Aldridge said. "We feel like we can beat any team. We feel like we can beat the Spurs, Suns, Lakers, Mavericks, whoever any night right now, and we'll still be here when those teams get old and their guys retire. We're going to be here for a long time."
