This has been bothering Me
Teams that move to another city need new nicknames

It has been bothering me, since I was a kid, when the Minneapolis Lakers moved to LA. They should no longer keep the name as a symbol of another area...What should they be called ....Well the LA "Smog" would be a good name for them . Other teams:
Utah Jazz = Utah Wives
LA Clippers = LA 8.5's
New Orleans= (most logical back to the Jazz) but how about the New Orleans Mud Dobbers
Sacramento Kings= Sacramento Pawns
GS Warriors= Golden State of Distress
OK City= Oaklahoma City Dust Mites
Just some thoughts...I'm sure there are better names for them, but they should be representive of the area..Don't you agree?

A friend of mine went to Whitman
which is home to the fighting missionaries
and their war cry is “missionaries, missionaries we’er on top!”
I love it

hey!
I went to Whitman too. They’re caled the Missionaries because the dude they were named after was a real-life missionary. He tried to bring the Bible to the native people but instead he only brought them smallpox. Naturally, that enraged the natives, and they responded by killing Mr. Whitman and his posse.

I have ever heard from someone who went to Whitman.

I am sure Timbo will tell you more about it.

wait
on your bio it says you have been in Oregon all of your life. This new found info that you went to a college in Walla Walla WA seems to contradict that.

Maybe it was a long vacation?
I’m taking a four year vacation from Oregon before I return (maybe three year).

I LOL'd
My school Mascot was the Crimson tide… it didn’t occur to me that this should be hilarious until MANY years later when I was telling someone. I just sort of stopped mid sentence stunned… and then starting cracking up.
You’d think other schools would be quivering in their boots upon our arrival.

i doubt its a big deal
one way to read all the fanposts is to change the setting on your account. I have mine set so I see the last fifty fanposts. This site pumps out tons of fanposts, so much so that it’s hard to stay caught up.

i knew I had just read that
its ok though. I wouldnt expect this conversation to blow up big, weekend and all. it seems most bedgers are leaches on there respective stockholders, and try to spend time with family while not at work, you know, priorities. I have read 30 of the available 50 fanposts and am waaay behind in front page news(sorry dave and ben). this is just cause i have no life and for some retarded reason insist on reading every word offered by some of uor more verbose blogging friends. I laughed, I cried, I put a gun in my mouth and almost….
its funny alot of people have been thinking the same thing, and that other thread does have a few gems, verry few. but any way, welcome to the BEdge (B and E for blazers edge and not breaking and entering) ive been dieing slowly hear for a little while now but am still considered verry new(noob). there is a kinda ettiquete hear thats kinda rare on other sights. our Dave, the moderator(said with dark echoee psy-fi voice) and Ben, the alcoholic(said with sadness) have filled the role for us like KP and Ben(intrestingly enough) have for our favorite team. youve probably noticed allready if youve been a lurker-long time reader first time poster. if not then just know that this is a pretty cool place for bball talk.

Oh ....and ptwnblzr is our designated bad speller
You are not allowed to point this out. He has threatened, on various occasions, hunt us down and deface our house(s) if it is mentioned. So even if he tries to spell “Philharmonic” with an “F” and 3 “L”s …..just say nothing!! Slowly walk away from the keyboard.
(hehe …I love noobs. He will totally believe me)

It's been so long since there were games.
I’ve forgotten my own personal names for various franchises:
Worriers
Nougats
Paper Clips
Timberpuppies
Spoors
Rickets
The Memphis Teddy Bears’ Picnic
Sac O’ Mentos (implying bits of chewy candy where their masculine spheroids should be)
Nookies (back when a certain team split its city identity between New Orleans and Oklahoma City,
leading to TV ticker updates featuring the abbreviation “NO/OK”)
And, in the eastern conference, my favorite: The Cha-Cha Bobby Kittens.

Im thinking that the league is maturing
its why the sonics arent taking it to ok city… the way marketing is going now a days it makes since to develop new product within you arsenal… kobe and mr jordan didnt change thier numbers because they were sick of them..think about it ..now the kids have to buy two different bulls jersey, plus 1 wizard’s..that is brilliant… by the way a washington “bullets” jersey with arenas on the back will fetch you twice the money if sold..although he never played a game for the bullets…its all money
if it can be conceived it can be achieved

Memphis and OKC
I have some names: The Memphis we shouldn’t have a team’s and the Oklahoma City We also shouldn’t have a team. And, in the early 00’s, I called the L*kers the Luckers and the Flukers.
