Please un-rec it thread Junk 8/2

No one has set this up yet so I though I would. I won't re-write a song. I will just quote the lyrics from one....here goes

Mama's got a squeeze box she wears on her chest

When daddy comes home, he never gets no rest

'cos she's playin' all night, and the music's alright

Mama's got a squeeze box, and daddy never sleeps at night

Well, the kids don't eat, and the dog can't sleep

There's no escape from the music in the whole damn street

'cos she's playin' all night, and the music's alright

Mama's got a squeeze box, and daddy never sleeps at night

She goes in and out, and in and out

And in and out, and in and out

She's playin' all night, and the music's alright

Mama's got a squeeze box, and daddy never sleeps at night

She goes "Squeeze me, come on and squeeze me

Come on and tease me like you do, I'm so in love with you"

Mama's got a squeeze box, and daddy never sleeps at night

She goes in and out, and in and out

And in and out, and in and out, and in and out

She's playin' all night, and the music's alright

Mama's got a squeeze box, and daddy never sleeps at night, oh

You know that mama's got a squeeze box, and daddy never sleeps at night

Oh, oh, mama's got a squeeze box, and daddy never sleeps at night

Oh, oh-oh

Hard to say

PSH isn’t the most versatile actor out there, other than maybe Daniel Day-Lewis.

Along those lines, just saw The Dark Knight for the second time last night (girlfriend hadn’t seen it), and it was even better. What a way to go out for Ledger. He elevated a comic book movie to legit Oscar contention. Nolan could even get a nomination, I think.

I am going to take

my old lady to the dark knight when she gets back into town. I am pumped to watch it again.

Did you mean PSH is versatile rather than isnt?

How many people can be in a movie like Capote and then switch it up for a pretty good comedy roll. Also, he was in the Big Lebowski and was awesome. He was also really good in Happiness. A lot of people talk up Magnolia which I thought was just all right except for the excellence of PSH

I hate it

We were leaving the hotel to go to my grandmother’s funeral and I said, “Wait, I gotta pee first.” Moments later someone was pounding on the door asking why I was in the shower.

Don’t tell my wife I told you this, but this is pretty funny. Khara parks her car on the second floor and we stopped by her car on the way to walk the dog. We took the stairs down and just as she stepped off the last step she gasped. I said, “What?” Then she said, “I pooped!” I laughed like a wave on the ocean as she slowly walked to the elevator to change.

Nice

I dont have any good pooping myself stories that occur after the age of 4, but once when I was surfing one of my friends pooed his wetsuit. That must have been a wicked gross feeling.

Also, one of my friends dropped out of straight edge and started drinking and after 6 months of this he had not one but 2 pretty worthwhile pooin ones self stories. These were the kinds of incidents where you had to throw out your shoes after.

Somebody want a new job? How about official writer/editor for the New York Knicks website? Knickfan? Bueller?

http://nbateamjobs.teamworkonline.com/teamwork/r.cfm?i=19519 (found by J.E. Skeets)

This individual will be the primary Knicks beat writer for NYKnicks.com, writing previews and recaps for all Knicks regular-season and playoff games. Must be able to attend all home games at Madison Square Garden and write 1-2 feature stories per week in addition to game coverage. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a superior knowledge of NBA basketball and prior experience covering the sport for a team site or professional media organization.[...]

Well, I don’t have most of the required skills. Fortunately. Though I could honestly answer this question with yes):

4. Yes/No: Do you know NBA knowledge?

Yeah, I have some and know it when I see it. Maybe they also need an HR person with superior writing skills soon…

Odenied: Coach, I promise I wasn't running hard ...

The requirements needed to work in the Knicks organization

is a long nose that doesn’t object to brown. Everything else some PR flak will dictate to you anyway. Everything must be processed through their screens. I do not believe the organization has changed beyond the basketball operations.

OK – that was harsh. No, I don’t have the necessary skills to even survive in NYC a day let alone a career. That town is the toughest in the country (maybe the world) to deal with fans.

Aldridge said. "We feel like we can beat any team. We feel like we can beat the Spurs, Suns, Lakers, Mavericks, whoever any night right now, and we'll still be here when those teams get old and their guys retire. We're going to be here for a long time."

Here is a quote that I hope fits Martell in two years
"My game speaks for myself," he said. "I’m one of the top thee or four two-way players in the game. I do love to play defense. I got scoring all around me now. I can just contribute.”

I have long seen the truth of this statement and longed for this capability on the Blazers. I am still hoping Martell is the player who can fulfill it. He is not a ball hog, He tries really hard. He has a wonderful NBA body. He is a natural shooter. He has excellent athleticism. He lacks experience of the player quoted above but he is comparable to that player at this age. The player quoted? Ron Artest. At Martell’s age (21) Artest averaged 11.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists. 2.1 turnovers, 2.0 steals and 0.6 blocks. In that year he shot 40.1% FG, 29.1% 3FG, 75% FT in 31.1 minutes. Martell’s statistics are comparable except in steals and assists. In the article Artest says he was dominated by Battier when he first began playing him because of Battier’s size. It has appeared to me over the years that Artest has worked each year on his game and become dominant himself. Long before the Detroit disaster in the stands I considered Artest the most complete 2 way player in the league. Can Martell follow this pattern?

Martell may never be the defender Artest is but he has the physical tools to get there. It is his mental game that needs strengthening. Artest has the street player’s toughness, Can Martell gain this? The game comes easier to Martell when he relaxes and he has that sweet stroke. This is my hope for Martell – to surpass Ron Artest’s production (without the volcano and trouble). What do you think?

Aldridge said. "We feel like we can beat any team. We feel like we can beat the Spurs, Suns, Lakers, Mavericks, whoever any night right now, and we'll still be here when those teams get old and their guys retire. We're going to be here for a long time."

by lee3022 on Aug 2, 2008 1:07 PM PDT reply reply   0 recs

what was Artest's crazy %

that year. I think it was pretty low. Maybe a smashed up TV or 2.

I dont know if Martell has the natural intensity of Ron, but the only person I can think that shares the same intensity level would be Mike Tyson. I dont know how you even develop that mentality outside of prison. If Martell can be 75% the defender that Artest is on the perimeter then I think he would be doing a really good job so that is what I will set my sights for.

Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.

by jonestr on Aug 2, 2008 1:18 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

You think Martell has the physical tools

to be on that level as a defender? I would settle for him (or Trout) becoming adequate. If either or both of those guys could somehow become a lockdown guy, the Blazers would have very few weaknesses left to address.

Bayless isn't the second coming of Jordan.
Jordan was the first coming of Bayless.

by KP Corleone on Aug 2, 2008 1:39 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I think Martell has the physical tools

I am not sure if his lateral quickness can improve with confidence but I suspect so. His lateral movement will certainly improve with experience and recognition. Outlaw’s mentality is as a scorer and defense may be something he does to get to shoot. Martell on the other hand is a reluctant scorer and can make his mark with a defensive emphasis.

I think Martell’s improvement pattern will take him beyond adequate. It might take him all the way to excellent. It happens. This is a reason I feel Martell needs three more years. A $5-6M/yr extension this fall makes perfect sense to me for Martell that will allow him to progress and allow for a reasonable trade should he regress. It makes sense for the Blazers because it buys

Aldridge said. "We feel like we can beat any team. We feel like we can beat the Spurs, Suns, Lakers, Mavericks, whoever any night right now, and we'll still be here when those teams get old and their guys retire. We're going to be here for a long time."
