Dave's Year 3 Coming

August 2007, Dave participated in an SBN forum.  You can read his thoughts from a year ago. (link follows)

August 1, 2007, Dave posted twice.  One received 75 comments and the other 5.

August 22, 2006, Dave (BEdge) posted for the first time after taking over from Casey.  That post received 26 comments.  (link follows)

This year, on August 1st, Dave posted twice.  So far one post has received

214 comments and the other 139.  What kind of bonus would a corporation award a CEO that achieved that growth rate?

OT – for more words, imagine 500 years ago, The Spanish are going for the Gold.   The Seville Conquistadors take on the Aztecs of Mexico City.  In the second game of the doubleheader, the Paris Napoleons will try to run against the Moscow Winter’s ferocious defense.

The first game of the double header is going to be a rout. The Aztecs of Mexico City are heavily outmatched and many of their core players are out sick. The Naopleons are lead well, but didn’t prepare well for this game. The team from Moscow is just too big and their homecourt advantage is borderline unfair.

I think these are the top 20 CEO’s in terms of pay. I’m not sure where Dave should fit.

Any Country With a Mimimum Wage

Should impose a maximum wage.

That goes against capitalism

and the American dream. Those CEOs contribute more worth to their corporation and, in the capitalist logic, deserve to be paid as such.

Except when they FUBAR the company

In which case, “Hello, Golden Parachute!”

We vastly overpay CEOs in the US.

Perhaps, but these CEOs derive very little of their net compensation from their salary

most of it is from being paid in company stock, which increases in value and thus they make more money. Even if a maximum wage could/would be imposed, CEOs would probably find a loophole in it by being paid in some commodity such as gold or silver which will appreciate at much the same value of company stock.

Yes, he is attempting an exceedingly high degree of difficulty, and his execution has been without equal.

But he still needs to keep the toes pointed on the layed out double back. That’ll be a half point deduction right there.

And smile, Dave, smile! The judges are looking at overall impression here!

Awesome find

The comments are good too, you can get a glimpse of who has been here for a long time.

i just went and read through some of the archives there. Fascinating to go black in time.

I’m not very good with people. Even when I was little, my imaginary friend would play with the kid across the street. And I’d be like, "I guess we’ll meet up later." And he’d be like, "Whatever, queer." - Daniel Tosh

Too bad all that spam is there

on his last BT post. Didn’t look at the earlier ones.

Nice

Thanks, I will read through some of his old stuff for memories.

From your second link

“Another well-known blogger once said that Lance Uppercut was the funniest Blazer blogger around and I am the most thought-provoking.”

Now that they podcast, does that mean that Casey is the most thought-provoking Blazer personality and Dave is the funniest?

Happy B-day, Dave

Happy blogging “birthday,” Dave! I’ve read Blazer’s Edge for a couple years, usually without commenting (heh! :), and appreciate the high level of intelligence, humor, and balance you bring.

wow

i didn’t realize Dave had been at BlazersEdge for that long. I can happily say i’ve been here since day 1 (earlier actually as i was still here for “lance uppercut”) and I think I was one of the early guys on Blazers Thoughts as well…So do i get a pay raise for being a good “worker” and supporting our “CEO” throughout these times???

Absolutely!

Because if you do then I do too :-)

YEAH

Where’s our cut of the Blazers Edge money pie? And here we are slaving away like dolts. It’s the opposite of "nifty’, Jorga (excuse my street slang for a moment of course).

We should at LEAST get stock options for our work. I don’t think any of us are here for free.

Who in their right mind would talk about the Blazers for fun? If I didn’t think there was something to get out of this place (and please, save the fan interaction garbage, that’s for the birds) I wouldn’t be here 24 hrs a day, forgoing all real life responsibilities and relationships.

Until Dave offers more profit sharing, we gotta go on strike Jorga. STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE!

And our DVD residuals are an ABOMINATION.

I hear Timbo has studied Marxism in America extensively

Maybe he could be had to start a union or something. We got to take the power back. Though Dave could hire some union busters pretty easily from other blogs around SBnation to make it appear like people are still posting and discussing :-(
