Brian Wheeler to have surgery Monday!

While I was listening to Wheels after Work today, and just prior to the end of the show, he announced that on next Monday morning (August 18th), he will undergo Laproscopic Band surgery. This is similar to a stomach staple, in that a band will be placed around the upper part of the stomach, shrinking the available space for food (very similar to gastric bypass, but according to Wheels, much safer). He also went on to say that he will not be hosting Wheels After Work this week, but will be out of the hospital the same day as the surgery.

I'm sure I speak for my fellow B-Edgers in wishing Wheels a speedy recovery! Our prayers are with you Wheels!

This is good news

I’ve been actually worried about him for a while. I didn’t know how to tastefully address this in a fanpost. I really like Wheels and hope that things turn out great.

He's taking one for the team

We obviously had one more operation in our quota for the year, and Wheels stepped up to the plate.

(OK, sorry about the pun at the end, that was really bad).

Best of luck, Wheels.

Only if he continues with the other lifestyle changes required to make it work.

I know of 2 people where I work who have had the procedure. One, a woman, has been successful and the other has not if evidenced by his expanding girth.

Good for him!

I wish him the best. He’s a great radio announcer and I love his afternoon/evening show on 95.5. Every time I see him though, he looks heavier and heavier. Hopefully this will keep him with the blazers for years to come.

Wheels is one of the best in the bizz

and I hope this adds years to his broadcasting career as well as many many years of good health to his life. Here’s to Brian Wheeler and his fast recovery.

Good to hear!

Maybe Kevin Duckworth should follow in Wheels’ footsteps? I remember I saw him on the pregame/postgame show and I didn’t even recognize him.

I actually just saw a photo of Wheels and he looked huge and I was wondering if he could use this

surgery. I think it will really help him out. Plus it will be cool to look at the before an after photos. Wish him the best.

Just make sure you and Roy are back to open the season. We need you.

Don't worry, Rudy is ready to step in for Wheels if he's not ready by then.

In all seriousness though may you have a successful surgery and a quick recovery Wheels. I don’t care what some haters say I love your enthusiasm about the Blazers.

I am hoping for a quick, painless recovery for you.

I hope he does an extreme make over (re: hair and wardrobe) and also gets well soon

Somehow he’s regressed to someone from the 1980’s. This recent photo looks like he should be on the cast of Miami Vice.

Anyone know Wheels' salary?

And also, how much does this surgery generally cost?

Good luck Wheels.

I have heard from people that work with him that he gets winded, and drenched with sweat walking from his car to the inside of the building. They have been worried that he he will have a heart attack for quite some time. Save your life Brian. We don’t want to lose you.

My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

I know someone

who recently lost about 100 lbs. The only problem was their skin didn’t shrink back very much and they are now contemplating a tummy tuck.

Yeh that is pretty common
