Jason Kidd is going to insult spain for that picture

then go beat his wife.

Will this game be shown live?

As opposed to NBC’s version of “live” they’ve been giving to the West Coast, while spoilers are already on news sites?

Also, what time/channel?

by Timmay! on Aug 15, 2008 8:13 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think it is "Live"

5 AM PDT = 8 PM China Time.

That makes it difficult as

I do not want to get up at 715 PST and would rather get up at 9-10 but if I come on this post, I will see

“Oh Rudy just burned K*be for 46 pts, 11 asts, 12 rebs and stole the ball from him AND Wade 10 times!” type posts.

At the same time I want to participate in the forum but do not want to be up at 715pst, tough choice.

So how many are watching live and how majny are going to be sleeping in on Sat morning until 10?

Cool! I can't wait to see this!

This guarantees I will be rooting for Spain.

What a great match up. The lamest basketball player on the planet (So long as Rick Fox stays retired.) vs. a future Blazer.

I am soo stoked to watch this game!

I don’t even get off work till 2 AM, but I’ll still most likely sleep with my macbook, so I can stream it at 7:15 LIVE. There is NO WAY I am risking a spoiler and watching on NBC at 10.

Here's what I gots

This link to www.usabasketball.com says;

Aug. 16 EDT

TBD (To Be Determined) Men’s Basketball on Telemundo
2:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Men’s Basketball on NBC Olympic Basketball Channel
10:15 a.m. USA – Spain (M) on USA, USA HD

Schedule is days old but reads Live at 7:15 AM PDT on USA channel to me.

My PVR guide says the opposite of that

USA has Olympic coverage from 6-11am Sat, but there’s no listing for Men’s BB in the description.

NBC is on from 10am-6pm, and lists Men’s BB: USA vs. Spain as the first event.

May have to tape both just in case. :)

Be prepared

The U.S. likes to pressure the perimeter and has been switching the pick and roll (which Spain runs a fair amount). He could get some scores on back door cuts and hitting threes over bigger, slower defenders.

I’d be prepared, however, for a relatively modest output. USA has been playing solid defense. If Kobe has his mind set on stopping someone, he can be tough to score on (see the poor Lithuanian guy). The game is only 40 minutes. Rudy may only play 20-25 minutes. Spain runs a fairly balanced offense. He’s not the type of player to take bad shots… Even if he scores 5 points or fewer, however, it doesn’t mean he’s gonna be a bust.

I can't wait for this game but I wish it wasn't so early in the morning. I would rather it be at 2 am so I can sleep in.

When it’s at 7 I have to wake up early to watch it. When it’s at 1 or 2 I just stay up to watch it. On another side note I wonder why the hell Jason Kidd is on the USA team. He is easily the worst players on the team and is only on there because he use to be good. God I’m sick about how hyped this old guy is getting. While Wade who is carrying the USA team got major hate on him all of last year because he was hurt.

Argentina and especially Russia have not performed well

Most likely only one of them will reach the quarterfinals, as their last match is against each other.

If Kobe is going to be guarding him, Rudy could have some trouble. I still think Rudy will have a good game.

Watching Germany against China right now

Really low scoring game at the half. Yao has hit another three, maybe something he will try more often next season. But now Germany is putting more pressure on their guards and has taken the lead. Also Femerling, the stiff 7’1 center, is looking much better defending Yao than Kaman. The loser of this one will probably go home together with Angola.

Oof

Talk about a back alley whupping by the US. As for Rudy, he looked pretty “active” at times, but his defense is pretty spotty, and that rejection he suffered in the 3rd quarter really felt like a “welcome to the NBA” moment; I wonder if he’ll have the kind of success going to the rack that he enjoyed with DKV?

by nikolokolus on Aug 16, 2008 9:18 AM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

If we had Reyes or Rubio coming to Portland, I would be more excited. Rudy had a nice alley-oop (great pass by Rubio) but again what stuck out to me was his horrible, or I should say, non-existant defense. I just can’t see Nate giving this guy much PT unless he learns to play D. He doesn’t rebound, he gets pushed around all over the place, and he spends most of his time stationary on the wing calling for the ball. I keep hearing how he is the MVP of this tournament and that one, but I thought he was about the fifth or sixth best player on the Spanish team.

If K*be ever becomes a Blazer

I foresee only one possibility: the encounter could create a time paradox, the results of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space time continuum, and destroy the entire universe! Granted, that’s a worse case scenario. The destruction might in fact be very localized, limited to merely our own galaxy.

The Rudy play that stuck out to me....

Was when he got matched up against D Will and they iso’d Williams. Deron went after him with a serious of crossovers but Rudy held him down and forced an ugly layup attempt that missed……

FOUL???

Dear God,
It's me, Twiggs.
Please, oh please, let Brandon Roy have a speedy recovery.
Us Blazer fans don't ask for much in this life. All we want is our team to be healthy (and win). You would really be doing a service to us if you had him bounce back in a few weeks (without pushing it). I promise I won't ask for anything ever again (until the regular season anyhow).

Thank you,
Twiggs
