L.A. must go.....

As a new member I apologize if I am putting this in the wrong spot or if this has been covered before (I did a search for it but didn't find anything, which is not to say it is not there just that I didn't find it.)  What I really want to say is that I think it is time for the nickname LA to go.  Not just unoriginal and bland but obviously singing I love LA in the Rose Garden is just not right.

Star-divide

I believe it is time for the fans to rise up and say enough.  LaMarcus is a unique player and deserves a little more creativity than LA.  I suggest LaMarcusaurus Rex.  We could hold signs with a picture of a T-Rex body with LaMarcus' head photoshopped over it and instead of that stupid song they play they could play a clip of the T-Rex roar from Jurassic Park, and show a clip of the T-Rex smashing things.  They could also do a where's your head at spot with a T-Rex body and LaMarcus head.  Think about it, the T-Rex noise and smash would be cool and a dancing dinosaur would be pretty funny as evidenced by clapping Godzilla.

Listen that is just one idea I am sure that anyone who has cringed at the I love LA thing they do (especially during a game against the lakers) has thought of something else they would rather hear, if you have something better I am open to it.  I believe we have to be able to come up with something better than LA.

LA is his nickname

Its what he’s used to.

Its what his teammates call him.

Its what the broadcasters call him.

Its not that hard to keep LA the player separate from LA the city.

You don’t have to use LA if you don’t want to, but seriously its not that big a deal.

'Big Smoothie'.

Somebody on here (besides me) had alluded to it last season.
I liked it, and started yelling it at games when he made a great play or was instrumental in one.
I think ‘Big Smoothie’ is a great name and intend on continuing to use it.
Anyone else? = )

I don't get it...

Is LMA semi-frozen, refreshing, and comprised of mostly fruit?

Big Smoothie

I think of Sam Perkins, when he played for the Sonics. He was Big Smooth(y)

LMA is big, and smooth (and possibly even is available in a variety of fruit flavors), I think we can come up with something more original.

Brought up countless times

If his teammates know him as that, it’s not gonna change.

Good post though.

His teammates call him that

I get that and am aware that probably won’t change and obviously it’s not a serious issue but it seems like if enough people referred to him as something else, online, yelled out a games, etc. etc. that maybe it would start to catch on.

I hope so

understandable if his friends call him LA, but I dont like listening to the song in the Rose Garden. That is a song they play in the Stples Cnter and I don’t think it has its place in the City of Roses.

Yeah and whenever he makes a basket

we HAVE to stop playing that damn “I love L*” song. If we play that one more time at a game I am going up there and tearing down those speakers and taking them back to my house for the greatest aftergame party sound system ever.

I loves me a whole bunch of the LaMonster...

and I just wish that he would understand that he could really get the Portland fans super pumped up if he were to totally renounce the nickname LA, tell his teammates to not call him that, hold a press conference and tell the media that he does not want to be called LA any more because LA SUCKS!!!!
