Comcast Update: Wave Broadband Subscribers
I went to speak to Wave Broadband customer service in person today (Wave Broadband serves Woodburn, Canby, Silverton, Stayton, Grande Ronde, Sandy, and some smaller towns around those). I was surprised to find someone who was actually knowledgeable about the situation, instead of the worthless people I was getting on the phone.
Here's what I was told and, I think, its good news. We know that Wave is changing their channel lineup. The woman pointed me to the brochuere that we got in the mail. One of the changes is that FSN is moving to channel 38. Channel 37 is being left open to accomodate CSN. I'm told that almost everything has been agreed to, price, etc. The only issue still under negotiation is that Wave has some subscribers in the Seattle area. Wave doesn't want to offer CSN to those subscribers, because its Oregon programming. Comcast wants to. I'm told that this is the only issue left in negotiations and that its pretty much a lock this will be done by basketball season. Of course, cable companies tell us a lot of things, but I think that FSN moving channels to open up channel 37 is pretty good evidence that something's in the works.
Doesn't affect a lot of people, but very good for the few of us that it will.

Where in Southern Oregon?
if you are in Ashland you can get AshlandTV from the local fiber and they pay to have CSN ported down. I got to see every blazer game live last year because I use them.
Expanded basic cable for them is only around $40 a month and includes CSN
If outside Ashland I don’t know if they will work but you should try and see.

I have Wave Broadband near Seattle
I would love it if they would show blazer games here. I don’t know why they wouldn’t want to. The Sonics are gone. This would be the only good thing to come from the Sonics being stolen.
Has anyone heard anything about Blazer games being shown in Seattle? I would think the Blazers would be trying to get their games shown up here to make new fans.

Hard to get any news from DISH
They responded last week to my request by saying they had forwarded it to the programming department. Probably means the programming department is the waste basket.
Aldridge said. "We feel like we can beat any team. We feel like we can beat the Spurs, Suns, Lakers, Mavericks, whoever any night right now, and we'll still be here when those teams get old and their guys retire. We're going to be here for a long time."
