Drawer of Garbage 8/12/08Seinf

I am such a slob that I just leave my trash in drawers rather than disposing of it in the proper receptacle (fanshot.).

I always get excited about the Olympics and then I never watch them. I did watch the end of the road race and I have to say it was rather unexciting. Cancellera was the only impressive thing. He bridged to Rogers and the Russian and then pulled them up to the leading 3. That dude is made of some hard bark.

I really like the term "hard bark" after I heard it in no country for old men, but I have a hard time using it in casual conversation.

now it is time for a worthless poll which may elicit endless quotations.

I voted Seinfeld

Because it is just so classic. I still crack up at every episode, even though it is my 50th+ time watching it. Don’t get me wrong…I love me some Curb. When I first saw it I was instantly in love. It’s like Seinfeld but with CUSSING. How cool! However… I have to take Larry David in small doses and need a break from Curb from time to time. The thing about George in Seinfeld is he had everyone else to compliment his character and the whole show was not just about him. I don’t think Seinfeld would have been such a hit if it only focused on George the whole time (and we all know George is based on Larry himself). So. That’s my two cents.

If Mike Rice calls Oden "Odom" this season I might have to seriously hurt him

Great Effort by kobe against Angola

4-13 from the field, 0-8 3ptrs, 4 boards, 2 steals, 8 points and his typically selfless one assist.

Amazing how fast Angola has caught up to us, even outplayed us in the 4th.

For shame. 0-8 3 pointers. thats funny.

kind of goes without saying

but since kobe was launching three’s he obviously didnt get to the free throw line one time. Against Angola? Thats just not excusable. There is no way Coach K has a game plan that involves kobe taking 8 treys against Angola. What is happening is what I tried to describe some time ago. kobe is going to be responsible for yet another team usa blunder against a seasoned international team. Its going to go down that way because kobe is playing for himself and not the rest of us. he is playing to capture the spotlight of a worldwide audience, in order to inflate his already bloated ego. he is playing not just selfishly but sub-par at best. he has not looked sharp, and seems content to play outside-in at least until his shot starts dropping.

There’s just no way Coach K has handed kobe the rock and asked him to take us back to gold. Its not conceivable to think Coach K isnt preaching team ball. kobe just isnt listening. kobe wants to prove to the world that he is the best and if thats at the expense of his teammates, coaches, Gold medals or America, so be it.

Maybe he was listening to the crowd in China

Don’t know if you could hear it over the comment, but the whole arena was going into “we want Kobe” chants when the fourth quarter was running down. Not a single “we want James” chant. He clearly is the #1 in China. Bigger than Yao. Bigger than LeBron. And maybe he feels that way, too.

By the way, when Kobe was coming out of the game at halftime, I looked at my screen and thought “was he in the game? Did he contribute?”. Seriously, I remembered plays by Wade, James, Howard, Bosh, Tayshaun (5 points in two actions, sweet), but none from Kobe. Am I starting to tune him out?

tuning out kobe

maybe you were. Did he contribute—no. Unless self centered basketball contributes to anythingbut the self. Remember the days of pick up hoops and the guy who would never pass to the open guy? That’s kobe.

As to the entire bowl of chow mein chants for kobe… cmon… what can you say for a population of people under the worlds most repressive form of communism begging for the one guy who’s image appears there more often then smuggled bibles do? kobe is clearly #1 in C-com, huh? Wow. Good for kobe. If he wants to expand the asiatic fanbase why does it have to be at America’s expense?

That’s team ball. He’s just not as good at it. He’s trying though. Whether you like him or not, you’re way off base. He’s trying to play team ball.

Im way off base?

allow me to disect this and as always anytime I have to c&p a post, something is wrong.

He was catching and shooting, which isn’t his normal game- Yes it is. At least its a part of it. The other part of his game is driving to the bucket for easy scores or drawing the fouls. Neither of which he did against Angola. Has the Angolan defense improved that much since Chucks elbow?

That’s team ball. He’s just not as good at it.- You said that not me. Just chrystallizes my point tho.

He’s trying though.—- Really? To do what? Based on what? What he is trying to do is capture the spotlight for himself.

Whether you like him or not, you’re way off base— We already knew that.

He’s trying to play team ball.— So is that an admission that that kobe is a selfish player unaccustomed to team ball, a necessity in Olympic competition?

Anyone willing to step up and say by jacking up 8 consecutive off target bombs is team play I beg to debate.

USA Men's Basketball TV Listing Schedule

To Whom it May Concern,

Yesterday there was some talk about the ‘special’ basketball/soccer only channels being offered (NBC Olympic Basketball Channel & NBC Olympic Soccer Channel) and questions as to what channel they would be on for Comcast subscribers here in the PACNW. After a little research, it looks like these channels are offered only in HD and only cover the games that the regular NBC channels are not airing. From what others in the Eastern region of the US have been posting Comcast IS airing these channels along with the dish providers, but no one in the Western half is getting them. A call to Comcast revealed…absolutely nothing. They do not know of such channels existing. They must not want us to know what we are missing.

On the positive side there is a great schedule of TV listings for much of the Olympic basketball events, both the Men’s and Women’s teams, on
THIS WEBSITE.
The good news is that every USA game will be televised for all to see on USA’s Olympic coverage!
I hope this helps…

Kobe = Black Mamba

I dunno about the others but I took the snake in front of Kobe to be a reference to his self-given-nickname “Black Mamba”, which is a sort of snake that is a bad teammate.

(VOT) Bigfoot update

I cant believe my buddy went and created a fake Bigfoot sighting report near Elkton in order to lure me into what became a 30 mile raft trip down the Umpqua. That kind of behavior is in fact unbecoming and dishonorable, not to mention he’s taking advantage of my open-mindedness and split the rowing chores. So I returned without any proof, left feeling having been mocked and taken advantage of, but still it wasnt enough to crush my spirit. I still believe.

Although at our first camp post about 12 miles into it, at about 2am when rocks were being shplooshed into the river and I tried to wake em up to go check it out… they cowered in their fleece.

So tell me bout your story. I replied to this post because I wanted the story AND kobe is a snake.

About 10 years back

I was doing a Biology survey contract for the Forest Circus on Lake Mountain, the ridge between the Illinois and Applegate valleys and one of the crew shows up with last nites paper which had a front page article saying.A college prof from the U in Ashland and his family were hiking near the Oregon Caves and reported a 7 foot upright creature walking trough the woods paralell to the trail looking at them. This guy is a legit 6 foot 9 and his kids and wife swore on a stack of bibles”it was taller than Dad and real’.they showed the ranger where they saw it and they agreed a large animal had been trough there but tracking on rocky ground aint the same as tracking an elephant across a mud flat.Since this is only about an hour walk from where were working the subject naturally came discussion.Since I was the old guy on the crew with years of backpaking in the Kalimopsis experience my opinion was asked and being the deep down inside jerk that I am I described the call of a fox,a high pitched almost sounds like a hysterical woman sound and told them thats what it sounds like. The next day someone heard a bigfoot

Why does The History Channel run episodes about the topic?

In the 110-106 double overtime finale victory over Russia, Rubio scored 51 points (including a three-point, buzzer-beating shot from mid-court, to force the first overtime), grabbed 24 rebounds, made 12 assists, and stole the ball seven times, a performance unprecedented in the tournament’s history. Rubio also was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament after leading it in points, rebounds, assists and steals…..holy shit.
