Red uniform argument
I've resisted the come back of the red uniform. I love the black and red and I think we're one of the few teams in the league that does NOT have an ugly uniform. Even if I were out of state, I have a feeling I'd like this team just because I like the uniform.
However... there may be a very real reason to bring back the red.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080811/sc_nm/olympics_red_dc_1
Basically an article talking about how red makes the ref's biased.
Slow news day, and I thought it was interesting.
So, what do you think?

Isn't the alternate road uniform still red with white, silver, and black accents?
But how often is that used? By the way, I like our black road uniform better than the white home unis. Maybe we should make the home one black and the away one white or red depending on what color the opponent wears at home.

I agree
I’m not a fan of the white home and would much prefer black.
The red is used sometimes.
I’m with channing frye though… giant bottles of ketchup.

that was Pryz who alluded to giant bottles of ketchup
or he might have alluded to giant bottles of catsup. In any case, it was Pryz, not Frye. And sure enough, he DID look like a large ketchup bottle. That was the Xmas day game against the Sonics.
Winning is everything.

Thanks!
I remembered that RIGHT after I posted.
It would have been funnier to me if it was Frye.

The red
is growing on me. We originally ditched it after Clyde’s rookie year (83-84) and went with the black roads, which have been every since one of the top unis in the league IMHO.
I wasn’t a big fan when they brought the red back as an alternate a few years back, but I have to admit it’s growing on me a bit. I think the red is darker than back in days of old, and that helps. I think it’s a nice change of pace for about 5 games a year, but I wouldn’t want to replace the black with it. I’d be down if they wore the red at home and ditched the white though. Or maybe even try the silver as the base color on the home unis, with black/red/white accents.
Rule #1 of nitpicking is to get it right.

Last year
they lost a big old bunch of road games while wearing those uniforms and never wore them again.
I’m curious what will happen this year.

Was wondering about other than white at home
so looked up the rules:
Section VI-Uniforms (Players’ jerseys)a. Each player shall be numbered on the front and back of his jersey with a number of solid color contrasting with the color of the shirt.
b. Each number must be not less than 1/4” in width and not less than 6” in height on both the front and back. Each player shall have his surname affixed to the back of his game jersey in letters at least 2” in height. If a team has more than one player with the same surname, each such player’s first initial must appear before the surname on the back of the game jersey.
c. The home team shall wear light colored jerseys, and the visitors dark jerseys. For neutral court games and doubleheaders, the second team named in the official schedule shall be regarded as the home team and shall wear the light colored jerseys.

Except we wear them on the road
which qualifies them as dark. Maybe they can be both?

I interpret the dark and light
as being relative to the opponents jersey. Would explain why almost all teams go white as you can’t get lighter and you wouldn’t have to switch jersey’s if a team had a light road jersey.

I swear I remember...
Phoenix wearing orange and another team wearing white while playing a game in Phoenix. It was the opening game in 07 or 06… Anyone remember this?

I really like the Red
I have always liked the red uniforms. However, I also really like the black uniforms. My preference would be, as several people have mentioned, to switch to a red uniform (or more red) for home and keep the black for away games.
Whenever I think of the blazers, I think of red and black as their primary colors with white/silver as the secondary.

I could live with that...
except i’m not a fan of the red and they’d be at all the games I go to!
Apart from that, it’d be fine.

Reds are sweet
I love the reds, but they should only be broken out on the road, and only once in a while. Never against the Lake show, but for a big game in Utah? Break ‘em out. I think they look good, even though the road blacks are some of the best roadies in the game. Detroit’s roads come to mind, and I like the Celtic greens just because of the tradition. The worst? Denver’s and Minnesota’s. Nothing was as bad as the Sonics brick-reds or the Raptors originals.

I HATE the red jerseys,
and LOVE the white ones for home. The black road are obviously the awsomest jerseys period.

I love ALL the jersey's
The White jersey’s are designed perfectly. There are many teams that would kill to have a simple but great jersey. No extra designs or thrills to try and clutter the uniform. Same with the Black. And the Reds are like a special treat or the fine china that you bring out on special occasions to show off and make the other teams jealous of what GREAT uni’s that you have. Keep the Red’s but use them sparingly.

The clean symplicity
is most likely why I like them.
My girlfriends response to all the red love was “What??? Red is winning??? Are they BLIND???”
she’s funny sometimes.

Red/Black- favorite colors
Blazers, Reds & Red Sox are favorite teams. All three
vehicles I own are red or red & black. I’ve attended several
games over the years where they wore the reds & I like
them. Mix them in on the road and let’s start a new winning
road tradition.
GO BLAZERS & STAY TUNED FOR SOME GOOD NEWS !

I like the fact that we are one of the only teams
That keeps it oldschool.. I prefer the white and black, but red isnt terrible. it should be a distant third though… I also hope we dont switch to the cutoff sleeve jersey look
