Blazers Edge League Pass?: Something to think about for the impending season
Well I brought this up earlier in a topic about how to view Blazer's games. Supposedly, multiple people can view games online with NBA league pass with one account. If this option is really plausible, and if the whole comcast/dish deal isn't brokered out by the start of the season, do you think we should consider buying a site wide leaguepass? Multiple people would chip in (most likely to a paypal account or something), and then someone would purchase the package and give out the account+password for people to view games online. I'm not sure how viable this is, or recomending it, but I think it might be something to consider.
PS, this is only if it's legal. I'm not sure it would help out the site's credibility if the NBA came knocking.

I think it would only work if

There's no doubt it's against the rules.
But that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s illegal. Copyright holders usually assert more rights than the law actually gives them. Realistically, you probably couldn’t get a definite answer without getting sued and going through several appeals.

when/if caught, they would just terminate the account. highly unlikely that they would pursue it further than that.

A question
For the tech folks? If 3 rural households want to go in together and get all the games,it looks like the suits have us by the short hairs and we are screwed or are we just to dumb to figure it out?

I am assuming you would need Satellite...
It is possible though, you would have to buy a dish setup with 3 rooms/boxes in the plan. Then you would have to get a spool of cable and run out one cable to each of the other two houses. I don’t know how feasible that is, but its basically your only option if you all want to share cable/league pass off of one account/satellite dish….

Unless you know for sure it can be done
I’d bet that you can’t do it. Allowing multiple computers to login on the same account at the same time is too big a loophole to be left open, especially for a greedy pigs like the NBA.

No the NBA's tech department is really incompetent and backwards
There’s a huge loophole that allows users to access the streams illegally and this is posted a lot, but it’s not guaranteed. Late in the season they shut down a few of these places. But the loophole still worked.
There was even a time where they plugged in the WRONG channel for league pass. So some of us were getting like Paid TV advertisements while everyone in Portland was watching the game.
I know at least 2 people can access the account at once. I’ve read, I think on Sactown royalty that multiple people could access it. So it really depends.

If anybody has HD comcast here is the plan.
We would have one main holder who has Comcast HD/Verizon Fios TV with the works, HBO, Showtime, Starz, Cinemax and most importantly CSNW. The HD will help as it will creat a better signal going out, it would also help if they lived in Gresham of Hilsboro as there is acces to Verizon Fios and a 5mps upload speed.
Go here and read about the slingbox,
and what the plan would be is this. The slingbox allows only one person to log on to it at once so multiple slingboxes would be needed, as well as a cable box for each slingbox.
You hook the cable box up to the slingbox, and then the slingbox into the internet and you have all the channels that the holder has on your computer.
The stream is not the best quality, but paying $20-30/mo for comcast with the works and CSN would be worth it. Also if they can get Verizon fios 15mbs DL/5mps UL they could also get Verizon Fios TV and would be able to get CSNW also. So the price would be as follows:
Comcast/Verizon fios tv package
$100/mo
Fios/Cable internet
$60/mo
4 extra cable boxes
$30-40
total $200/mo
Keyholder pays $100/mo for mega cable package and 15mps internet speed and the others pay $25/mo for the same package and CSNW. We would have to come up with 4-5 slingboxes which are $75-100 but it could be done.
Now what is the over/under for this getting deleted?? By 12 tonight??

I did some googling.....
and couldn’t find any terms of service agreements that say that having 100 users on your NBA TV online account is illegal…that doesn’t mean it’s legal, but if I can’t find something with Google, I highly doubt it’s on the internet—period.

Having used NBA TV online, I will say this
DO NOT plug your computer into your TV via S-Video cable if you have a high def TV!
lol all of last year I subjected myself to plugging into my TV via S-video…wayyyy fuzzier than using the computer monitor cable. Use the monitor out if you have it…and save yourself some pain.

I get League Pass every year. This year I’ll create an account and post the login and pass here. If the online account gets blocked or whatever we had a good run right? I’m not too worried about the legalities of it. If someone could just do me a favor and remind of this post come season time that would be great.

My caution is that BE must have no part in a possible cartel
Why subject Dave to the risk of a lawsuit? Why jeopardize the credentials he worked so hard to acquire (remember the NBA controls these rights and the Blazers are NBA). Why not set up an email account on Gmail and post that address so everyone who wants to pursue this and similar subjects can get emails to each other?

Last year I watched some playoff games via Justin.tv and Mogulus while abroad
That blew big time, though I kind of enjoyed the chat function at Justin.tv (when the chatroom was not full of idiots screeming KOBE > MJ, posting in languages I don’t understand and stuff like that). But it’s unreliable, often buffering behind the actual game and you never know if everything will work or if the channel will get shut down before or during the game. P2P TV with a few of these Chinese programs was even worse, and way too complicated.
So my point is, I would be completely willing to pay some money if I knew I get a reliable solution with good quality (by Internet standards) that doesn’t get shut down without notice (NBA, ESPN, TNT, whatever).

Allow people to PAY for the service.
I don’t own a TV. I don’t WANT cable. I just want the NBA pass. Frustrating that I can’t purchase without paying for all that other crud. So I find other sources, and the NBA loses out on money. Dumb.
