Trail Mix aka The Junk Drawer-1st
Wow college in like 3 more weeks, still so many things to do. I just watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I felt the trailer was underwhelming, but it was just as cute and funny as the rest of Judd Apatow's movies. I thought it was close to, or better than Superbad, and far superior to 40 year Old Virgin. The characters had a lot of depth, for the most part, and there were some memorable bit roles. Oh and Mila Kunis looked great in that movie. She seems a lot different from That 70's Show. Maybe it's just the personality difference that does it?
Plus the main character really reminded me of James Murphy from LCD Soundsytem. Love that guy, and his music. Sound of Silver was one of my favorite albums last year. You know that he could had a job writing for Seinfeld in the 90s? He turned the offer down to continue making music, guess it worked out, but he missed out on a huge payday. Jerry Seinfeld was actually the highest paid celebrity in 2004, he made like $240 mil.

Oh, come on, Dheep.
You know the story on LCD Soundsystem – BOOORING. Well, mostly. I do like “Daft Punk is Playing at My House” and “Big Ideas” (the new song from the 21 soundtrack). Sound of Silver, though, is boring, repetitive, and not worth my time.
You can look at my top albums of 2007 list here. I’ll admit that I’d make a couple of changes at this point, but not many. Do you write out a list every year? If so, where can we see it?

haha yeah you told me
The 21 soundtrack had some nice tracks. That’s where I found MGMT, and then the You Can’t Get What Always Get What You Want-remix.
I did write one out. It was 50 albums. I’m not sure I can find it though, it was on my hard drive that failed a couple of weeks ago.

I like a lot of that stuff. Where are you going to school next year? Will they have a radio station? You sound like you’re ready for the college radio world.

I’m not a hater! “Sky Blue Sky” is great!
Also, you used the wrong form of “your/you’re” in your post. “your” is the possessive, while “you’re” is the contracted form of “you are.” I think what you meant to say was, “At least you’re not a Wilco hater like Rockingharder.” Even though that would be incorrect.

Yeh....your right
I should have said the Van Halen Version. Believe me…I am old enough to remember the Kinks. In fact….Their version of You Really Got Me was revolutionary in my mind. The reason that it worked sooo well for Van Halen was that the song was way ahead of its time.

Brandon as the leader
Anybody catch Courtside yesterday afternoon? They interviewed Przylyzylbilzla and asked him about when he expected to come back to Portland and he responded something like, “Brandon will call us and let us know what he wants us to do.” He said it with the same respect that he might say, “Coach will let us know…”
It’s pretty remarkable that Brandon has the respect he does and makes no bones about the fact that he has assumed the mantle of team leader, and at the same time you don’t get even a hint of arrogance or selfishness from him. It’s not as though he was determined to be the leader and would have been unhappy with less…the need was there and he became determined to fill it, and he seems to absolutely have the respect from everybody on the team.

Any Kopo speculation?
does waiting this long (longer than we thought they would wait - they basically said they’d decide within the week or something like that) bode well for Pete staying here next year or not? My intuition is that it is a sign that he’ll likely be with the Blazers next year (in the D-league). They must be waiting to see how the FA market plays out, and if there is a slot available, they’ll go ahead and sign him. That’s my interpretation. I’d be happy to see him over in Idaho with Batum - he’ll face better competition and get more time than as a short-timer on some Euro club.

From a previous Junk Drawer
Whither Koponen?Brian Hendrickson says it might be awhile before we know. KP and Tom Penn are on vacation for a couple of weeks. BH conjectures that it all depends on what Euro teams offer Petteri. If its a team where he’ll get competition they’ll let him sign, if it’s a lesser league the Blazers will sign him.

I thought Superbad was fantastic. For a raunchy, alcohol-fueled sex-centered teen comedy, it had a big heart. That’s what really made it worthwhile to me; above all, these were good kids.

Lots of folks said it was Ferrell's lamest sports movie
It’s actually more of a movie focused on Woddy Harrelson’s character. I think Ferrell is front and center on everything because he is will Ferrell. I don’t regret watching it or anything like that. It just wasn’t hilarious. I had some chuckles.
A friend came over the other day with Super High Me. That was pretty funny. Just watching Doug Benson go from one extreme to the other; all while watching his comedy routine change because of his situation was entertaining.

That was in the same category
I just didn’t get a lot of the humor. I mean I understand humor, I just didn’t get why they would use a really stupid joke then not use others. When it was over, I just sort of wondered what the point of the movie was. It felt like a spoof of sports movies and it also felt like it was trying to have it’s own identity and just be a funny ping pong movie. Somehow it missed being either option. If someone asked me to choose between the two, I would have to flip a coin.

I saw semi-pro, didnt make me laugh at all, there might have been a chuckle or two, otherwise, nada....
I went and saw Ferrels new movie “Step Brothers” tonight, and it was funnier than I anticipated. It helps to see his movies in a theater where a bunch of people are laughing and setting a giggly atmosphere. His movies aren’t great late night viewings on the couch with a sleepy girlfriend/wife, plus they all tend to have the same type of humor, which can get a little old. Step brothers was a little more vulgar than some of his recent ones, that helped a little…
