Out-of-towners: How do you get Blazers on TV?
For someone who doesn't live in Portland (anymore), what's the best way to get the most games on TV?
I'm in NJ. Listened to last year's games via Internet radio, but would like to get them on TV this year, whether by cable, satellite or Internet. I'm wondering what other people do.
The system requires me to make this post longer, so this sentence is just to make it longer.

Man
This probably would have fit nicely in the junk drawer.
I watched them over the net since comcast had me blocked out. If I was out of market though I would go with League Pass

Re: Man
Sorry, was this an inappropriate post? If so, I’ll delete it.
I looked at League Pass last year but it required cable, which I didn’t have. So before I ordered anything I thought I would ask other fans.

And it looked like they didn’t carry the Blazers’ broadcasts (though they would obviously show up on other teams’ networks). So that’s why I was wondering.

If you know someone who has cable, you can share league pass
Use the league pass online. This is how I plan to watch Blazer games.

a second note,
you can have multiple users logged into the same nba.com account and watching league pass online at the same time! at least last year I know my brother and my step-brother and I all leeched of my dad’s league pass subscription at the same time

seriously???
and those who had did not share???
what’s up with that???

RE: carrying Blazer broadcasts
I live in Boston and watched most games on league pass (probably saw 70 in their entirety last year). They do carry the Blazer broadcasts more than half the time and almost always for Blazer home games. It’s quite nice to get the local announcers. Makes me feel at home :-)

do you have broadband?
if so, you can watch league pass online – without cable. blazers games showup if you’re out of the area, like in nj.

oregonlive blog before game time
usually somebody will be posting a feed there, that works too for the most part.

yeah
you can often get a link to games if you are willing to search a bit.

Eh
Things are just getting bumped down quickly on fanposts. Seemed tailor made for the junk drawer, its not a big deal though.
League Pass does have the Blazers, you’ll get blacked out when they are in your market (so no Nets vs Blazers on League Pass for you).
Its the way to go for out of town fans though, at least I think.
by Replacement Level Poster on Jul 8, 2008 10:32 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think Dish Network has all the games in HD
most cable won’t get you that. Satellite and HD’s the best. You’ll get blacked out when they play in NJ, but just go to the game.

I'm located in LA
(unfortunately). I have Direct TV
Any other LAers know if there’s an easy package to get Blazer games with this configuration? Otherwise I’ll probably do it through the internet.

League Pass
should be available in D-TV. Since the Blazers are not the local team you should be able to get most of the games that way

I was looking at the tv schedule from last season
and it looks like the blazers were on usually 3 or so nights a week, but rarely (if never) in HD. Is there going to be more HD coverage this season? The schedule isn’t up yet.
by joelor on Jul 8, 2008 11:15 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
The schedule hasn't been released yet by the league
The TV schedule should follow shortly after. Last year there was about 35-40 HD games….I bet there will be more this year

I live in North County SD, have the league pass, 62 inch HD TV with full surround sound, peak ocean view
and ABSOLUTELY NO BLAZER FANS TO WATCH GAMES WITH. Come down any time.

THat's funny. The vibe's a little different, though
I’m in kind of surfy, almost yuppie place where hot blond girls are a dime a dozen. There aren’t, to my dismay, many gun-toating cowboys. it’s the price you pay I guess.
I meant the pic was the ocean view. I’ll try to find a photo of my house, but I wouldn’t know how to load it. Although, this may ruin my hobo-cred

My wife and I were planning on visiting Deadwood on our way back to Wisconsin.
But the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is that week, and we really didn’t want to fight half a million motorcycle enthusiasts for the fifteen motel rooms in the 100-mile radius.
Does anyone know any good sights to see in North Dakota?

Man
Me and you just might have to become bestest of friends then. I live in Santa Monica, and no one here has heard of the Clippers, let alone the Blazers. Maybe for a big game we all make the trip down there and tell Blazer-themed ghost stories and watch Oden break Bynum in half.
I get league pass also, and I can’t imagine not having it. When they play LA, the games are just on a local channel, so no blackouts. For Joelor, even though he doesn’t have cable, he’ll either watch illegally online or get league pass and watch on his nice TV or from the NBA’s feed on NBA.com. Like others have mentioned, people can share League Pass accounts (as of last season). I shared mine with my family up in Portland.
If you’re only going to watch online, I’d guess that League Pass is too spendy just for fuzzy low resolution online viewing. It’s only worth it if you’re able to watch on TV as well, unless you split it with a few people.
Even if the Blazers’ channel becomes available for order on DirecTV, I’ll likely still get League Pass because I like watching every team play. I think the Blazers home broadcasts are all broadcast in HD, but I think you gotta turn to a different HD-type channel the Blazers have… I dunno. I’m dumb.
AnntheFan… you should be able to watch live online either legally or illegally. I didn’t try out the illegal ways ever, because I love League Pass, but I know it isn’t hard to do. I like Wheels, but these kids gotta be seen!

I used League Pass Online
worked pretty well…it’s not HD, but better than nothing. I’m tempted to get Dish just for Blazer games, but I seriously would hate to pay for all the channels just to get the dumb games. I wouldn’t watch anything else on there ‘sides the boys.

Yeah, kind of
You can watch games live on NBA.com if you already subscribe to league pass, but to subscribe to league pass, you have to have some form of TV (cable or satellite thru DirecTV or Dish).
Essentially, you need to find a friend who has league pass and get his/her account info and use it to watch games online.

I don’t know.
Sometimes it doesn’t work. It worked when I watched some Euro 2008 games and the U.S. Open Playoff within the last 6 weeks. But it didn’t work when I tried to catch some of the Blazer games last year… not sure if it was a result of my work computer/network/firewall or the website or what.

I live in Las Vegas
So if the Blazers weren’t on national television this past year, I usually ended up listening to the audio stream (Wheels) of the game via nba.com. It’s free if you register with nba.com, and I’ve only received one e-mail from them since registering a year ago, so it’s not like they’re spamming me a lot.
I’m considering getting the NBA League Pass this year, though.

League Pass is the way to go. I have Dish Network and league pass. Love it. I also record games that come on before I get off work and catch up to where i missed during time outs. You also get it online so if you CAN stream live you can do it that way.

What About..
people who live in Portland and hate TV and don’t want to pay for a cable contract? I’m all for League Pass sharing, but apparently there’d be a Portland blackout every day. I’d chip in w/ an out-of-towner, though.
That is, I’m all for internet streaming and if anybody’s got an LP account outside Portland, I could, er, make it worth your while, as they say. Any takers?
