Paul resigns with NO
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3473113
4 year deal, not a big surprise really. Hopefully this will put an end to our delusions that he is going to become a Blazer. Let the LBJ dreams begin! Luckily for us, I think Mr. Bayless will do just fine as our team's future point.
My prediction: Bayless starts out on the bench until he serves Blake so hard in practice that it ends his career, ala South Park.

Good for him
Time for Blazers fans to move on. We have our point guard, we just don’t know who he is.

Believe it or not...
but Paul is overrated. I love the guy, he’s the best point in the game and is always entertaining to watch. I love pulling for him too as he makes all his mediocre teammates into straight ballers. He’s a franchise player who should probably make the HOF, and he is the single reason why teams are so worried about PG play when all teams used to care about was getting a franchise big man. Paul is the reason Chicago drafted Rose over Beasley. Paul is the reason every other team wants to get their hands on #2 PG in the league Deron Williams. Paul is the reason for every Blazers’ fan tripping since season’s end that we needed a veteran PG.
What matters to me is W’s. The Hornets were surprisingly good last year and won a bunch of regular season games. They even ousted the overrated Mavs in impressive fashion. But they still lost to the Spurs, in the second round, at home. I don’t really see them playing any better than last season unless they make some moves, which they have not. In my opinion, Paul is therefore overrated. His becoming a Blazer would instantly make us relevant, but we would have been relevant in a year from now with Blake and Jack anyway.
Bayless really is the man. If you haven’t searched his name on Youtube, you need to. He can bam with two hands effortlessly and his stroke reminds me of BRoy, perfect mechanics and great elevation. He has size and speed, which should become a recipe for good defense. There is no excuse for him to not become our franchise PG, and it probably should take him less time to earn the starting role than it took Blake to steal that job away from Jack last season.
As for LBJ, there’s no way we get him either. We’ll be too good by 2010 and he’ll want to lead a team where he can be the man. In Portland, even LBJ isn’t the man. Oden and out.

??????????????????????
“Paul is overrated.” then ”...he’s the best point in the game…”, ”...he makes all his mediocre teammates into straight ballers…”, “He’s a franchise player…”, ”...probably make the HOF…”, ”...he is the single reason why teams are so worried about PG play…”, and then “Paul is the reason Chicago drafted Rose over Beasley.”. You then go on to say “What matters to me is W’s.” followed by “The Hornets were … good … and won a bunch of … games.”, and “They … ousted the … Mavs in impressive fashion.” and finish off with ”...Paul is therefore overrated.” Yah, I dont know how I feal about a team that could lose to a dynasy like that either, but, I just hope Oden is half as overrated as CP3 is. Oh yah, you forgot to mention the mvp nod, and how he lost out to Kobe. Paul is way overrated.
I hope your the prosicuting attourny in the upcoming trial, “The People of China vs. nightbluefruit, and silkybrown.

How the heck did I get caught up in this?
Anyways, since I’m here…Chris Paul is not overrated. Chris Paul is Chris Paul because he’s Chris Paul. His great reputation was created by him. It follows him. It follows him because he is Chris Paul. I rest my case.

i'm guessing what was meant
is that the PG position is now overrated.
Since WHEN did teams freak out about pg’s? They’re important. You want a decent one, but you do NOT need all star point guards (it just so happens we may have one now). We have people on the board moving away from the “you need good big men” and going “trade aldridge for rose because good PF’s are common”... what?
There is no way I trade away our twin towers for an unproven rookie. I’d rather have the big man even is he is slightly less.
YOu could argue that Aldridge light is behind aldridge in Frye, but Aldridge has the better defense. LaMarcus Aldridge! I CHOOSE YOU!!!

PG is overrated in the same way that QB is overrated
You need a competent one to win. Someone who can manage games, and not give up the ball. But if your defense is good (this is where the analogy gets dicey, what with QBs not playing defense), and the rest of your offense is good, you don’t need a stellar PG or QB.

Finally Paul is out of the running
as I always thought but hoped nonetheless. I bet everyone will start on Deron Williams now! If Baylees doesn’t work out, people will start suggesting we go after DW. Deron might actually be a free agent next year now that Paul is out of the running. This would likely mean more money for him. I say, who cares! We got all the guys we are going to need to get to the Playoffs. From there who knows what we’re going to need to improve on to take us to the Promised Land. Now if only we had a veteran PG with defensive instincts, I would then be delighted. Someone like a Lindsey Hunter?

You're right
I thought that looked wrong. I imagine it would be a bigger story if Paul resigned from the Hornets.

From ESPN Rumors
Meeting Scheduled
Deron Williams | Jazz
Deron Williams and his representatives have scheduled a meeting with the Jazz next week to discuss a potential $90 million contract extension.
Williams’ agent, Bob McClaren, would not say when the meeting would take place, though it is expected to be Wednesday or Thursday, after Williams returns from vacation. It will take place in Salt Lake City, with McClaren flying in from Houston. —The Salt Lake Tribune
