Nothing Green and Gold Can Stay.
As a long time Blazer fan and a native to the PNW (pacific northwest). I am absolutely devastated, angry and down right sick to my stomach over what has happened to the Seattle Super Sonics.
Why should a city be stripped of it's team because it refused to give into demands of an unnecessary stadium. We see it all to frequently in professional sports. Stadiums that are just over a decade old are for what ever reason no longer suitable. I struggled to understand what some of these arenas lack that is so important to the game of basketball. Where there is a court and a sufficient amount of fan support and pro team should be allowed to thrive.
David Stern, the NBA's Commissioner, release a statement today explaining that the NBA could explore options to bring a team back to seattle with in the next five years. This feeble attempt to reach out to a angry disenfranchised city will, I'm sure, fall on deaf ears. Stern has repeatedly proven that he is not capable of facilitating a league. Whether it is ridiculous demands for salary increases for players, referee scandals, or the infamous "new ball". I am calling for the immediate resignation of David Stern. How can you expect a city, that just had it's team of 41 years ripped out from under them, with all the support in the world from the commissioner of the league to actually support another franchise.
What can we do? Some of you may be asking. Well growing up in Portland, Oregon, it is in our nature to protest.
The first home game the Trailblazers have against the new OKC team, we need everyone to show up to the game in green and gold. Not to rout for the Sonics but to show solidarity with our North West brothers. Also feel free to bring signs that protest David Stern as well as Clay Bennett. During the introduction of the Oklahoma City TBA's will commence the loudest longest boo session known to man kind. I am talking world record long. After which sporadic chants of Bennett Sucks or Impeach Stern will take place.
If this can happen to a team with a loyal fan base, it can happen to you too. It doesn't matter how long your team has been around or how much history it has, it is in danger of moving to a distant land in search of a bigger wallet for the owner. Now I know this is a business, but there should be better controls in place. Re-location is not good for the sport, the team, the players, or the fans involved.
Please encourage other fans of other teams across the US to participate as well. This is not a simple protest for the Sonics, it is stop the all to frequent and usually painful re-location process.

Yeah
Can’t stand seeing them go.
It was a good rivalry because, as huge a Blazer fan as I am, I still really like the Sonics. I used to live in Seattle when The Glove was playing, and it was great.
I would go nuts if the Trail Blazers ever left for Alabama or Pittsburg or someplace. Infact, a few years ago I was on the edge of my seat, totally upset when everyday the tag line “the team is hemoraging money and may relocate” was added to every Blazer story.
RIP Super Sonics until you rise again!

Shawn Kemp has slimmed down wow
A Time For Heroes,
It's not right for young lungs to be coughing up blood
And it's all
It's all in my hands
And its all up the walls
Well the stale chips were up and the hopes stakes were down
Until Kp came into Town!

Interesting set of polls:
If you look at the maps, its pretty amazing, Washington is the only state where a majority thinks they will never have another NBA team. OK and the surrounding states are the only ones that think that they can support and NBA team. Only Oregonians think they should throw their support behind the Blazers. And even people in OK would rather go to a sooners game than an NBA game, and by a wide margin. not as wide as everywhere else but still more than a 2-1 when I posted this, (and I don’t think that’s because the sooners games are that great).

But
only Oklahoma did not vote for mourning a lost team forever. Hypocrites!

Excellent
Then they won’t mind too much if the team returns to Seattle after one season and a won lawsuit by Starbucks um the former owner. Though I doubt it will happen.
Coach, I promise I wasn't running hard ...
I concur
I like all of your suggestions for that first Oky game. What fun we would all have AND get to show our support for our NW brothers and sisters.
Ray Allen looks like he's thinking
“Dudes, I was a Milwaukee Buck longer than I was a Sonic…”
Hey, that's a good idea...

agreed
we can feel bad for their team, but there is no way I am showing up for the game in anything but the red and black.

Green and Gold not OKC colors
Those colors and the Sonics name stay behind in Seattle. So wearing green and gold will support Seattle without showing favoritism to the away team (whose colors should be Pink and Brown) .
I think so!
Plus, in the Portland area, that’s probably the green and yellow that most people have.

Fire Stern!
That’s the chant I’d like to hear. I don’t trust him in the slightest, he runs a league that borders on bogus and it pains me to feel that way because I love it so much. My heart goes out to you Seattle! It could have been us had Paul succeeded in selling the PTB.
The pictures kinda small, but Im giving the C's a big thumbs down
