All-You-Can-Eat BRoy
In case you haven't noticed it yet, Jason Quick and Bruce Ely have a ginormous series all about Brandon Roy at the Behind the Beat Blog. It's everything you could think of, basketball-related and personal as well. Now THAT'S how to fill a summer!

Me too. Great guy.
He let that his passion would become an obsession. It happens to me sometimes too.

Me too
I wish we had one guy like that for every player. Wait, except for Bayless. He’s already got a couple hundred of those.

Now that was a buffet of goodness! I needed to loosen up the belt buckle a notch or two…
Sometimes it great to hear a player just come out and say what Roy said about playing with CP3 V.S. Blake, in that it would detract from what he does on the court. Anybody else you would consider that to be a selfish, me 1st remark. But with Roy, it nerver crossed my mind.

Absolutely fantastic interview. Anybody else get chills while watching/listening/reading?
Oh, yeah!
But then the hits just kept on coming! It was like you’d wonder about something, then click on the next link and get it answered—straight from Brandon’s mouth. I think it truly relates to discussions we’ve been having on this site, because it’s just a great use of a blog to go LONGFORM without the constrictions of column inches and advertising space. 100% worth the entire read.

Roy Likes Bayless.
Roy thinks he’s a perfect backcourt team-mate. You can clearly see how KP and Roy envision Bayless going forward. Guard the other team’s PG, bring the ball up the court, dish off to Roy, slide over to the #2 and go into motion, execute a pick and roll, force the other team’s PG to guard him – creating mismatches, run a play for Roy now and then as well. Now, if you think that Bayless can make the other teams PG work his tail off given his aggressiveness, first step, and jumping ability – you can see that there’ll be a lot of mismatches. After all – who’s going to help the PG out? If the 2 guard slides over – Roy gets the shot. If the SF tries it, then Outlaw/Webster will be open for the short and mid-range jumpers. And anyone watching his aggressivenes can see that many of the PG’s will have their work cut out. How many, after all, can match his size, strength, weight, first step, jumping ability and power? He’s already pushing 205. Right now he’s got 20 – 30 lbs on many of them. In another year or two as he matures, I’ll bet he plays at 210 – 215. He needs to get his shot off more quickly, and practice dishing off on those inside drives, but let’s face it, players like Iverson, Rose, Anthony and the like will not be able to stop him as he’ll drive up and through their arms to take his shot, or simply – literally – run over them. They can finesse him, but they can’t power him.
Roy likes Bayless
I stole your title.
Roy’s comments are EXACTLY why I like Bayless and a part of the reason that I voted for Bayless over Rose in a poll that was conducted. I said, then, that I didn’t have all the information, but all parts being the same, I really do think bayless fits with Roy better than rose.

Roy Says:
“People say we are coming, but I almost think it’s to the point where we are here,” he said. “I think it’s no longer coming. We are here now.”
I agree. Took the vegas line 30-1 odds and just dropped $50 on line.
IMO, the best odds on a ‘long shot” that has a legit chance is our own PTB’s.
I think B Roy would agree!
The Oden Era, Day 397
30 to 1???
Wow… I wouldn’t mind dropping a hundred on that. I still think we’ll be slapped down by the Celtics in the finals, but that’s a pretty low risk bet.

Good luck
That would be such a sweet win, I don’t even know if could turn that ticket in to the Sportsbook. Might have to just frame it or something.

Celtics are less than 3 to 1
$1 will get you $2.75 in return for the long in the tooth, got what they never thought they would get, now are fat and happy ring wearing Celtics. Dropping a C spot on our team will get you 3K, nice.

Actually when you look at the current odds, we are getting a little respect in Vegas.
Still I really like the $50 down at 30-1 = $1,500.00, so I couldn’t resist. Best of all my wife agreed this was a good bet!
When (not if) I win, ya think the winings will be mine to keep and spend as I wish?
The Oden Era, Day 397
Quite a bit of respect
According to Vegas, the probability that the Blazers win the NBA is greater than the probability that the Rapters or Wizards… equal to the 76ers and not far below the Magic.
If she is anything like my gf....
then no, you better buy her a nice present and be happy with the PTB shocking the NBA world….

Hey, all of you folks that liked this
Have you bothered to e-mail Quick or comment over there to let him know? The hits will tell part of the story but reinforcement never hurts if you’d like to see more of this kind of thing.

It's sometimes hard to believe Roy is
only 24 years old. When I compare myself to him at 24, he is light years ahead of me in the maturity realm. And thank goodness…a millionaire JasonT at the age of 24 would not have been a pretty sight in Portland or anywhere else for that matter.
Think about it, he has access to anything he wants and could pretty much behave in anyway he chooses…without suffering many of the same consequences that most 24 year olds would. Which makes his down to earth persona and ability to keeps his priorities straight at such a young age even more impressive.
I would have to say that my name could just easily replace yours in that post...
me at 24, with that kind of money would have been insane. I probably would not be alive right now. But I think at 48 I could handle it. I sure would like to try. :)

Me too…I am sad to say (not really sad) . I didn’t have enough money to get into too much trouble

Brandon Roy has put himself and his rep on the line...
I believe that he has what it takes to make good on what he has said and I hope that he pulls it off. I really like what he said about “Fearless Bayless” and I agree. But I am surprise that the topic of Rudy did not come up at all. This fills me with questions that I hope will be answered soon.
