Team USA thoughts
Yes it was Canada. Yes it didn't count for anything. Still good to see our boys put one on Joel Anthony and rest of the mounties. Hard to say which USA players were most impressive since they all were.
One major stand-out is Michael Redd. USA will need consistent shooting from the closer 3 point line. For the most part, Redd was money (6-8 3s, 20 pts.). Couldn't help but think to myself as he swished in his third in a row at one point, "Damn, wonder if he could be that quality vet we need?" With the Bucks getting RJefferson, do they really need Redd and his huge contract? They may pull a Denver and be willing to deal Redd just for cap relief, who knows?
James Jones left a hole and we know it. We hope that void can be filled by Webster and Rudy, and we'll use at least half of this upcoming year trying to find out if that'll work. Personally, I really hope it does. I still love Martell and wouldn't want to see him anywhere else. But if we're going to send off a gunslinger, it might as well be to Milwaukee where he can't punish us for at least the immediate future. I like Rudy for now as well. Love the YouTube highlights and if Sasha Vujacic can get 5 mil a year for 3 years on a championship-contending team, Rudy should be able to be at least that productive in the league.
Regardless, as Dave has mentioned, we might as well spend the money we have while we can. In which case, try to trade Raef and Martell for Redd by February or hope Redd doesn't get traded before the end of next season and then try and get him. He's a vet who is lights out when left alone. No team can afford not to keep a man on him at all times. It would free up more space to operate inside for the LaModen.
I'm not saying Martell won't be better than Redd, he'll definitely be around longer if nothing else. But Redd has a lot of respect as a shooter in this league. Would you do it you lil faux-KPs?

Redd wouldn't fit
Redd would want to be a starter and play starters minutes at a position where we are stacked. I am sorry Michael Redd, but there is no room for you on the Blazers.
There are no stupid questions, only stupid people
I agree
Redd’s a guy who would be a fantastic complementary player if he was willing to play that role (as he does with the national team). The problem is, he’s paid like a star and expects to be a star. That makes him the wrong fit in Portland.

Redd is the shooting guard version of 'Melo and Z-Bo.
Some would say his name is actually Michael Re.
I want to be tucked in by Greg Oden and have him tell us stories about the old days.

LOL, first time I've heard it
though I have heard of that German guy, Irk Nowitzki.
Bad idea not to play D in the NBA if you have one in your name…
Asked his specialty in the kitchen, Oden paused and said, "Hamburger Helper and tuna fish."
Are these "Team USA" thoughts or "Michael Redd thoughts"?

Speaking of which, I'm excited because Greg Doden is going to bring us some extra D.

I had some Bucks on my fantasy squadron
So, I watched much more Bucks games than I feel like a man should admit.
The games were shot with used former Soviet Union cameras from the 1980’s, all dull and dreary looking. I don’t know why their broadcasts look so dead.
But, I watched ‘em to root on my players, as I was doing pretty well and it was my first fantasy team ever.
I grew to hate, hate, hate Michael Redd. He is the Zach Randolph of shooting guards.
He can shoot, certainly. He’s a good fit for the Olympic team because he accepts a co-star role. On the Bucks, he shoots whenever the hell he wants, and usually it’s a bad shot. He shoots when others are open, when others are red hot (when Mo Williams or Charlie V are hot, they’re HOT), he actually YELLS at teammates for not passing to him or shooting their own shot, and seemed to have a horrible attitude. He also played zero, zip, nada defense.
With his selfish play, I grew to hate hate hate him. He’d be an awful fit because of this.
Even if he was a nice guy and was a good teammate (which he isn’t, if I didn’t make that clear), his defense doesn’t make him worth the money he’s paid. He can certainly stretch the defense, but he wants 20+ shots a game. He’s such a jerk the way he acts out there.
I never thought I would care enough to have much of an opinion of Michael Redd, but I hate him. It takes a lot to deserve my hate. He’s up there with Hitler, Ruben Patterson, etc.

Rumor is that Redd demands his shots...
... in other words no way he ends up a blazer.
its interesting....
Generally speaking, the players on the all-Zbo team tend to be guys who are awesome complementary players if they were willing to accept that role (remember Zbo in his breakout playoff series and then the year right after it), but got ruined after their teams stupidly decided they were worth star type money.

Could be. Maybe she had many jobs with the Pattersons.
