Rudy's Spain vs. USA August 16
The dates are set. 7:15 am PST. Saturday morning. I can't wait to see how Rudy does.
No news that I can find that it will be live or tape delayed. Anyone?
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/olympics_blog/2008/07/olympic-basketb.html
I'm rooting for the red, white and blue, but I hope that Rudy sets the Olympics on fire. I want to see his 3pt shooting and passing skills. (Make that skills that will complement Roy and Bayless.)
Wow, normally there is nothing to talk about in the late summer. We'll have plenty.

I dunno if he's gonna get a lot of opportunities,
K*be tends to play tight perimeter defense, so it will be interesting to see if he creates out of isolation sets or if he gets set up by pg penetration (specifically from Rubio). This will be a barometer for Ricky as well, because he will be tested against CP and DWill both offensively and defensively. Obviously one can’t put too much stock in a bad performance on this stage from Rubio, since the guy is so young and would be playing against players much more experienced than him. However, if he holds his own against those guys, he could start garnering hype on the level of LBJ or GO, maybe even more.

But how great would you feel
Wouldn’t it feel like a hundred bucks to watch Rudy light it up kobe on the worldwide stage.

I am rooting for Spain...
I said it before and will say it again. Just try and tell me you dont want to see Rudy drop about 30 on K*be while he leads his team to an upset victory. Call me unpatriotic if you must, but I know deep down inside everyone wants to see it as well….

False.
I want to see Rudy drop about 30 on K*be as Spain takes a five-point lead into halftime. Rudy leads the charge as Spain’s lead swells to 15 by the mid-third quarter. Then a lineup of Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Paul bring Team USA back to a 2-point victory (sealed by a CP 3 at the buzzer [see what I did there?]).
High drama leading to a gold medal for the States would set the new standard for USA basketball, and we might get lucky enough to see some truly “Dreamy” international teams for the US in the next few years.

Nope
I have no problem with American’s playing for other countries in the Olympics if they can’t make our team, since they really only have one or two opportunities in their entire life to play in the Olympics. I am still going to root for my country though. I can care less about Rudy and Kobe, as long as America wins the gold.

I wasn't going to admit this until your post
came along myemic23. I rooted against the USA and for Sabonis’ team in the Olympics years ago because Sabonis had been drafted by the Blazers. A friend of mine at work labeled me a traitor for doing so (especially because it meant I was rooting for Russia). This year, I imagine I’ll find myself rooting for Spain too when they’re playing the star-studded USA. Is that taking our Blazer fandom too far? I don’t know, but 4 years from now, when a Blazer or two could be on that USA Olympic squad, it will be a different story.
I remember telling him how impressed I was with a player during summer league. In Avery's unique voice, he replied, "Marc, it's summer league." I

Agreed
I’ll be rooting for Spain too. I like to be contrary and it helps that a blazer is on the team.
Plus, I’m not exactly a fan of a lot of the US players.

If Rudy leads Spain over the USA
I will be completely fine with it. I’m rooting for the USA, but Rudy dropping 30 on Kobe would be fantastic.

Sometimes I root against my country just for fun
because I’m an evil liberal. With Rudy it’s even better.

I´m sure it will be pleasant commenting the game together.
I hope nobody will be emotionally or verbally restrained because of my presence. I´m a kind of National Geographic reporter, I like observing you living naturally in your biosphere. I´m not offended even if you try to devour me. :-)

The final piece?
It’s probably not Rubio. But how cool would that be?
I want to be tucked in by Greg Oden and have him tell us stories about the old days.

If Rubio continues to improve at his already torrid pace,
We won’t even get to sniff at him when he enters the 2010 draft. He’s already the #1 prospect for that draft (which is rather presumptuous since there are tons of AAU players that will prolly distinguish themselves as freshmen this year or next year. But seriously, prospects like Steve Nash don’t come around all the time. We’ll probably have to be content with our own Tony Parker 2.0, but I’m cool with that.

whoops that comment got totally messed up.
Anyway, the point was that we won’t touch him in the ‘10 draft. He’s the #1 rated prospect for that draft. It’s too bad because he’s called the next Steve Nash, but I’m content with Tony Parker 2.0. Yea, I definitely like the sound of that.

do not doubt the kp!!!
He did not draft rose because rose sucked, mayo and that other guy were bad for culture. Bayless was the man and so KP got him.
My sour grapes taste EVER so sweet.
