Bayless to be MVP (?)
As I'm sitting here courtside taking in Wizards vs. Suns, two Summer League event planners are discussing plans (apparently with KP via telephone) to sit Mr. Bayless's mother near center court during tonight's game. The assumption is she will need a good view to watch her son honored as MVP of the Vegas Summer League.
UPDATE: Yeah, he won.

You've only got half the scoop, Ben.
My sources tell me that not only is he going to be receiving MVP award, but Cox Pavillion is retiring number 4. 4ever forever.

Somebody in the gameday thread linked to this blurb from truehoop:
There is a chance that Jerryd Bayless’ 36-point special against Phoenix on Saturday will be his final shining moment at summer league. The Portland rookie, who was added to the select team today, attended the noon practice, but did not participate because of pain in his hand. According to a summer league official, he had an MRI and the results were negative.

"Select" team
reminds me of that Safeway brand. It’s better than generic, but still not as good as the name-brand stuff.
Hmmmm…come to think of it, that may be an appropriate designation for these guys.

The heart of a lion
The man has got THE HEART OF A LION!
By the end of his rookie year there is going to come a stretch where he is simply going to WOW us and his teamates.
His killer instinct is going to spread. Folks he just may be the chosen one in this regard. Every championship team needs that piece, did the Blazers just find theirs?
You have got to be kidding me.

I love it! It totally fits him, and while it is a long nick name I intend to use it.
Thanks Heymoe!

I’ll take 1/2 the credit for that potential nickname.

Do you realize this?
The Blazers had a “Big Three” on the Summer League team.
Yep, good times are ahead.
