Bayless not named to Select Team
"COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. July 18, 2008 – Robin Lopez, Phoenix Suns, and Kevin Love, Minnesota Timberwolves, two top 15 draft choices in the 2008 NBA Draft who have made strong impressions in the 2008 NBA Summer League, will join the original 10 NBA players named to the 2008 USA Basketball Select Team to complete the 12-member roster...
The select squad will begin training July 20 in Las Vegas and is expected to train and scrimmage against the USA Senior National Team from July 21-24."

Robin Lopez? What?
I’m assuming they wanted some big men since they had Rose and OJ going there already, but…...Robin Lopez?

That's a bunch of horse pucky!
Maybe they thought that he’d just keep driving the lane over and over again and they were afraid of the chance that Kobe could get injured by Jerryd Fear-less!

Wrong
Remember Jerryd=Kobe, read here, http://www.blazersedge.com/2008/7/18/574297/bayless-kobe

They got the center Lopez which is what they lacked
(also apparently the better defender)
Aldridge said. "We feel like we can beat any team. We feel like we can beat the Spurs, Suns, Lakers, Mavericks, whoever any night right now, and we'll still be here when those teams get old and their guys retire. We're going to be here for a long time."

Once again people are going by need and not BPA
The thing of it is look at the roster
LaMarcus Aldridge (Portland Trail Blazers);
Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City NBA);
Jeff Green (Oklahoma City NBA);
Luther Head? (Houston Rockets);
Al Horford (Atlanta Hawks);
Andre Iguodala (Philadelphia 76ers);
Kevin Martin (Sacramento Kings);
O.J. Mayo (Memphis Grizzlies);
Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls)
Rodney Stuckey (Detroit Pistons).
The tallest guy is LMA and that is only 6’11 followed by HOrford at 6’10 and that is all the post players they have. HOw the hell did Head get on the roster?? Anybody know?? Its like a game of which one of these things is not like the other. Bayless is head and shoulders above Head even at this point.

The why did Dave say..
that Bayless wouldn’t play tomorrow because of his commitment to the select team?
Dave?

Monty said so in the video on the main page. Nice!

Weird
Dave and the Oregonian thinks he’s going. I’m thinking there’s a little miscommunication going on somewhere.

The practice team had 6 guards and 4 forrwards and no center
So Love and Lopez (the Center) help balance the squad. Probably never intended to add another guard. Did Brandon Roy decline to play this year?

Yeh
Online I try to write the way I talk…...lots of pauses…..and not much thought given to proper grammar. The purpose of language is to convey thoughts and I (and you too) do just fine usually. I do try to spell correctly …..but not to the point of paralisys (sp….see).

He'll cover Pierce's camps during the finals
and won’t leave his for the Olympic nod. That’s a real man who knows his priorities. We are lucky.
by MGNNoah on Jul 20, 2008 7:44 AM PDT 0 recs
He did not get a olympic nod
He got invited to the select team. Just to play against the olympic team. He is an all star, he has nothing to prove. He knows he can play at the highest level. Rest is more important for Broy.

As Jimmy Stewart would say
Schwell fellow!
The practice squad is intended to form the core for the next cycle of USA teams ending with the 2012 Olympics. I can see Portland with maybe even 4 players on that team. At least they would know each others’ preferences.

if Bayless is on that team, I would be very surprised
But I could see us with 5 Olympians, easily. Go P-Kop and Rudy!
