Mike Golub Movin' On Up
Congratulations to former Blazers COO Mike Golub, who has taken a new job as a special advisor for Vulcan Sports. [Insert Star Trek Joke]
"Mike's leadership has been a driving force in the resurgence of the Trail Blazers, and he has been a terrific ambassador in the community," said Tod Leiweke, CEO of Vulcan. "He has been instrumental in our many recent successes and we are excited that we will now be able to utilize his unique talents and experience on behalf of the full Vulcan Sports & Entertainment portfolio."
By "the full Vulcan Sports & Entertainment portfolio," I assume Mr. Leiweke means "Honor Terry Porter."
That's two big time promotions for Mr. Golub in roughly 24 months. Whatever "it" is, the man has it.

PS If you're new to the site, be sure to check out Blazersedge interviews with Mr. Golub from earlier this summer (Part 1) (Part 2).
PPS Thanks to Corvid in today's Junk Drawer for the first scoop.

Is he the executive who cried when we won the #1 pick?

Mr. Golub would be the first one to tell you of Oden's impact on the team and the state
That said, his own rise in the sports business world has been pretty much meteoric.

Did Vulcan do anything with the sonics?
Or is it just a Paul Allen thing? Does he own the Sounders?

Yeah! Timbers will be a pro team in a few years! Mark my words!
Are we allowed to talk a little timbers here? or will be be kicked off the site?
On mike golub, they guy is cool, I tried to get some free tickets out of him, to no avail, but he likes Blazermaniac Andy, I can tell you this much. He got me my own personal assitant to help me find the best seats possible during select-a-seat.
Can I borrow someone’s altitude medicine? It’s going to be a long climb up there.
Congrats Mike and good luck with the Vulcan’s!
(I think Canzano has made me hate those cats!)

Did Golub
have anything to do with the decision to give Comcast the broadcast rights to Blazer games?
