Junk Drawer -- July 16, 2008

Well it's midnight and I've got some random stuff I don't want to fanpost so time for today's drawer.

1st item of business: What is up with Timbo's profile? Freaky picture and he doesn't like Eldrick?

2nd item of business: I have about 4 different fanposts I want to write right now, but instead I'll just go over the C's. We have chips. We have class. We have character. We have comrarderie. We have "cagey." We've have"cool." We have Comca.....never mind. We'll stick with the aforementioned characteristics. I'm sure you can think of more.

3rd item of business: Just tried Kiteboarding today and it is cool.

Ok, now for the customary random words of this random post.

Wait, driver, cheese, wrecker, declaration, stunt, king, Sabrina, AK-47, cow, cerebral palsy, grouse, crankshaft, crepe, Foucault pendulum, #25

Gee I thought Timbo was bad for being a Tiger hater,

You a Federer hater it looks like? What’s with all this hatorade? (Gosh I hate when Cowherd says that—hatorade. sooo lame). But seriuosly, you a Nadal fan? I like the good old days of MacEnroe myself. He was cool.

Federer = boring

Actually, I liked Sampras, and don’t want Federer to surpass him in Grand Slams. It isn’t so much that I hate Roger.

I'm hurt

What happened to your Koponen fan club signature, anyway? That was you, wasn’t it? I’ve been pushing PK for a year.

He reminded me of a guy I played with in high school

And that made me not like him. It is all about Bayless now. He is the hot new summer fashion. That is going to be my new thing for the summer. I am going to be a front runner on our players.

Hater

I still like Koponen.

But I like Bayless, too. Big time. In three years, Bayless will start, PK sub, Blake is injury cover.

Got my Sports Northwest Magazine trial issue last week.

Remember the magazine that Dave promoted free trial issues for? I got mine. It’s 10 bucks for a year’s subscription, so I figure I’ll subscribe. It seems like the magazine has more ads than content, but the content is decent enough to justify the ridiculously low price. Dave had an article in there along with a few Seattle sports media guys. It was a good article, but the diehard BE readers won’t find anything new in it. I think it’s a good way for Dave to pull in new readers, though, so more power to him.

Has anyone else received their copy of the magazine? What are your thoughts on it?

I saw the first highlight and noticed the commentator called him Gerald. I figured, incorrectly it turns out, that he’d figure it out for the highlights of game 2.

Anyone think a trade might be brewing involving Bayless and/or Kop?

Blazer coaches told Bayless to attack and shoot and attack some more, which in turn demonstrated his potential to be a great penetrator in the NBA, which LOTS of teams desire, and so far he is not any different than Jack, except he is doing this in summer league, not professionals. So is it possible the staff is getting Bayless’s trade value up?

And Kop is getting a ton of minutes and shots so far, and his trade value has skyrocketed this week. He’s likely more desired than Sergio at this point. With so many GMs watching summer league is it possible our staff is thinking trade value with these guys?

D. Will?

How about it?

Outlaw (4 Mil)
Bayless (2 Mil)
LaFrentz (12.7 Mil)
for
D. Will

Jazz could sign and trade something like 5 years 110 Mil with the first year being about 19 Mil and on up. Would the Jazz do this?

Too bad the CBA exists

...otherwise we could just kick em in the butt and take the players we wanted without matching salary.

No, they don’t want to trade their great player for our ok/untested/RLEC players. This is a general rule.

I'll Play

I want to start by thanking you for not making this a diary. Shoots I’ll call it a fanpost just out of appreciation.

Denver just got a huge trade exception and they need a point guard. Detroit needs a power forward.

Denver sends Kenyon Martin to Detroit

Portland sends Bayless to Denver

Detroit sends Richard Hamilton to Portland

Add a dash of filler and some cash and what not and there you go.

I want D. Will not Rip

But if you like 3-team trades,

Portland gets D. Will for Bayless, Outlaw, rights to Koponen, RLEC, picks, and cash.
Denver gets Outlaw, Okur, RLEC, picks, and cash for Carmelo.
Utah gets Bayless, rights to Koponen and Carmelo for D. Will and Okur.

No idea if it would work. What would you change about this?
