The Many Faces of Jerryd Bayless
Sure JB missed the game winner. But we still love him.

A Time For Heroes,
It's not right for young lungs to be coughing up blood
And it's all
It's all in my hands
And its all up the walls
Well the stale chips were up and the hopes stakes were down
Until Kp came into Town!
'Sing it Petey!

the dude is a stud
don’t matter why his face looks hard or aloof or superior or whatever. The dude is a baller and he’s got the heart of a champion. Why don’t we give him props and congrats and lots of love for elevating his craft to such heights. The dude deserves respect and love. That’s all I got to say. Cut out the resentment and the hating. It’s a new era brothers and sisters.
Winning is everything.

Every Blazer gets Hugs and Love!
THAT is my policy. I’ve been arrested a dozen times and I’m not allowed to home games, but I think the players are really appreciative of it.

On that note
The one player who would be for the “Blazers Hugs” policy is Channing Frye, and I love Bayless and I love Frye, but I think it’s fair to say that Bayless =/= Frye.

It’s going to be harder for you to get to any away games, too, now that Seattle is OKC.

I live in California and go to school in Mass.
So I won’t be going to any home games soon :(
but I spent 3/4 of my life in Portland, hence the fandom.

why is this conversation happening?
This young man is serious about his basketball. And He wants to play for the Portland Trailblazers! Who cares which face he wears? He wants to play for OUR team!

I think it's happening
because many of us have a sense of humor. Clearly Ben is included in this group.

If Jerryd has a sense of humor
he’ll love this post.
If he doesn’t, we’ll cure him.

That was good
I was pretty surprised to see him smile and even laugh a little in the post-game interview.
I’m guessing he’s pretty uptight right now – he’s even said he has a lot to prove. I think Dave mentioned after the first game that he seemed to be trying too hard. Personally I don’t think he has to prove anything – going 11th is no shame.

The reason that Jerryd is ANGRY!!!!
...dumb interview questions. Seriously, he strikes me as the kind of guy that thinks sports interviews are as dumb as most fans think they are. I put the blame for this more on the interviewer. Really, his press badge actually says “Moron the Interviewer”. What is going on in Rex’s mind during an interview?
Interviewer: “How do you feel about being drafted number 11?“
Rex: “How do I feel? It’s hot in here and my suit itches. I thought I’d get drafted earlier. I’m bummed. Duh! I just want to play and win.“
Interviewer: “How do you feel about playing in Portland?“
Rex: “More feelings? Are you my mother? Let’s see…Portland, Portland, Portland…where is that? Is this trade a for sure thing? I think they have a good team.“
Interviewer: “How do you feel about playing in Portland?“
Rex: “Whaaaat? Did this dude just ask the exact same question? Yeah, I think they have a good team.“
Interviewer. “Tell me about that last shot.“
Rex: “What do you mean, tell you about it? Weren’t you at the game? Basketball, hoop, shot…did I miss anything? The shot just didn’t fall. My bad.“
Interviwer. “How do you feel about playing in Portland?“
Rex: “Huh…you gotta be kidding me??!!! Both teams played hard.”

That was so right on lukeyhere.
I found it interesting though that while you were coming to his defense, you insulted his physical attributes at the same time by calling him Rex.

Rex.....
I thought the short arm thing was kind of insulting when it first started, but because his arms aren’t really short, I mean like REALLY short, the whole thing is endearing rather than insulting and has grown on me. It’s like you kidding your friend about being dumb, even though he isn’t. Now calling a mentally retarded kid dumb…ok, now it’s crossed over to insult. Damon was mighty mouse because he was tiny, but he wasn’t insulted by it (if he was he must have been really drunk when he got that tatoo).
Jerryd should embrace the T-Rex image as a bloodthirsty carnivore, single minded in purpose, relentless in his pursuit. It doesn’t matter how big his arms are because if you stop to contemplate them, he’s already chewed off your head, spit out the teeth and stuffed another “AND ONE!” down your throat.

is when you like a post so well that you rec it, and tell other people to as well. lukeyhere got three of them so far for his brilliant interview, and one of them was mine. He needs two more to be turned green.
Two more recs for the Rex interview, please….

“Both teams played hard.”?
If he did, he’s got a good sense of humor to go with all the basketball talent.

JB would be a perfect Moe'
In a 3 stooge remake. Just throw a black mop wig on his head and lookout!
Jerryd will bring a different personality to the team, is that a bad thing? I say no way, he only will make our team even more interesting than it already is.
Larry Bird kinda handled himself the same way didn’t he? LB seems like he has got a killer instinct to him. Larry would like that (but probably not so much Curly)
Very, very funny stuff Ben.
