Are You There GOd, It's Me, DDR Pad.
Hey Greg,
It’s me, you know, the DDR Pad. Where have you been? I’ve been rolled up in a closet in the basement for almost a year. I remember we used to have so much fun before, you’d jump around on top of me, and I’d give you points on your plasma screen. It was great. Since I’m made out of plastic and fabric, your jumping would never break me, and I always stayed in place. We were a team, Greg. A team!
What now, though? I’m living in a basement in Tualatin, Oregon, like some sort of suburban hermit. The only company I get are curious ants or that dog repeatedly declaring, that yes, I am his territory.
And I know you haven’t stopped playing games either, that’s the worst part. I hear you up there; with Master Chief last fall, with Call of Duty, with Guitar Hero and your unexpected love of ZZ Top and Foghat, with 2K8, yelling at the screen as digitized you swatted away another shot into the seventh row. Why won’t you play with me?
What did I ever do to you, man? I thought we were friends. We can still be friends! Just take me out, we can reminisce on the good old times, maybe even make a new ones. What’s the worst that can happen?
Yours,
DDR Pad

Don't do it Greg
He’s just trying to rope you in. Remember what happen last time you gave in to his urges?
Make a compromise; donate him to Goodwill. Let him find a friend that will appreciate him for who he is.

I think
it’s one of those ideas that can’t be substantiated, but just about everyone in BlazerNation and beyond surmises some kind of strong truth to it.

bunch of negative nancys
I’ll take some creativity over people posting the same thing every hour and a half debating the merits of whether Travis should start over Martell because they are sure he jumps the highest, or bringing new interesting thoughts on exactly how much we don’t have a good point guard. Other favorites include the do you think the Mavericks will trade up Dirk if we give them a SF, we do have a lot of them, and we could through in Frye to fill the new gap they will have at PF. Those posts are made even better by people posting about how Dirk might take time away from LMA, instead of how Cuban would have needed to have been partying with Josh Howard to make that trade. Anyway, long live creativity. REC.

um, if you'd rather read "OT" posts
than peoples crazy trade ideas or other blazer related topics, shouldn’t you be on some other sort of site? the internet has gotten pretty big these days people. Just because Pippen suggested that creative people actually use the junk drawer (maybe I’m wrong but isn’t that why the all knowing Dave created it?) doesn’t mean people have to get butt hurt and say something to the effect of, if you don’t like it go away and shut up…Its a funny post, I enjoyed it. Lets not turn into an angry mob.
Somebody wrote me during the draft that a guy on a Knicks blog had dubbed Pritchard "The Hamburgler". In this case the appellation seems accurate. Robble-robble. - Dave

Um..
Pippen suggested that creative people actually use the junk drawer
So trade talk gets fanposts, creativity relegated to the trash heap? To me, this is a FAN site, and all things that fans would find interesting belong. To my knowledge, the reason Dave created the junk drawer was to keep the frequency of low quality posts to a minimum, not low-fun

actually
I am just discouraged by the level of discourse on this site lately. It had always been top notch, and now people sit around making totally unreasonable trade posts, and then when voices of reason speak up they get flamed. If people would take an extra moment before deciding to narcissistically post some ridiculous post on how the Blazers can get an all star for a scrub and the gum off the bottom of their shoe the site could remain one of the best on the web. Obviously, given that I frequent this site, I am a Blazer fan and furthermore appreciate Dave’s posting as well as some of the other posters. Sorry if my post came across as overly negative, it was meant more with a touch of humor. However I hope that the point of my post comes through that I think it is silly for people to bash a poster over him bringing creativity to the table. Hopefully this next week can bring better discussion with the summer league in action. Additionally, please if can’t see any reason that people will rec your post, don’t post it. Don’t take my reply as an attack on the junk drawer, as for reasons listed above I am certainly a fan of it; I just don’t see it as reasonable for people to trash someone after taking they spent the time to make a post as creative as this one.

that was just one poster
I agree with you if it was “a bunch” of negative nancies and not just that one annoying kid who’s been flaming up everyone’s posts the last few days. Direct your ire at him.

I don't think the unreasonable trade posts are anything new :)
And while I understand your frustration, the level of discourse overall is still strong.
Just ignore the frustrating ones.
At the rate we post here, there’s still tons to read.

My concern
is that people are doing a worse job of engaging in conversations. Instead of responding to the posts of others with well thought out responses, people are just creating new posts. This has led to the current situation in which anything of value needs to be RECed or else it will just slip off of the page without people reading it. As true dialogue has become more limited more nuanced opinions end up being squashed by those that are only of the opinion that the Blazers will be the champions within 2 years. I just hope that discussions can maintain a certain amount of objectivity, and that people don’t have to worry about being attacked, or else it ruins the very point of discussion.

I am totally with you
To be honest, I’d be in favor of Ben or Dave being a little more cavalier with deleting some of the more redundant stuff. Then again, I’d be in favor not having the Junk Drawer recommended up either, but that’s not happening.

In my opinion
Reccing the junk drawer and keeping it in full view probably helps, in the long run, keep other junk out of the fanposts. Even new people will see the junk drawer and surmise what it is for, and perhaps intro themself there instead of making a new fanpost, or post a link there and etcetera.
I know reccing it makes the Junk Drawer take up a spot, but better one spot taken up by a popular thread that helps prevent redundant/unimportant fanposts, right?

I can't believe I generated such a response!
I just wanted to put something on the front page that was different than all the trade talk and Bayless posts. That’s what you get for trying to be different.
