(2 posts) spoil and shame, and one for my #25'ers

Spoil And Shame!

If you've ever been so unfortunate as to get stuck reading one of my posts, you know I have a tendency to read other sites (the Bedge is #1, we all know it) and then complain about them here. I especially pick on some of the goofy goobers at RealGM. Here it is and I hope any of you that read over there agree: Shut up, you are making us look bad! You mock other teams poor trade ideas and then go try to sell Webster and filler for Kobe (although we don't cross over into Lakers blasphemy, we do this a bit here too). You then talk mad smack to all the other franchises' fans who are unfortunate enough to have a GM that got duped. Don't point out the obvious to people who love their teams as much as we do. Soon KP won't even be able to make a trade because of this talk. And lastly, the reason for this post: Blazer fans have become so spoiled that some of us have the stones to nitpick about receiving a steal of a guard in Bayless? He was supposed to go 4!!! He is the second best guard in the draft! He shows the fiery attitude we swore we missed if Jack left and people are talking smack about it? Go live on the Knicks board, because that's where that kind of attitude belongs-we don't want that here in Portland. We are a team back from the brink, renewed beyond all others in vigor and destiny and you are going to complain about the latest miracle we pulled off because you think he's smug?

For my fellow #25er's

I am too uneducated to link or post pics, and we should support the local media anyways. Go to O-Live and you will see four guys are at the practice facility already working out. Diogu (knee must not be too tweaked), Bayless, Batum, and Outlaw. He said he wanted to be an all-star. Even if he never is, he is going to come back in shape (the main complaint against him has been off-season work, correct?). Look at him watching Batum's high release thinking "that's what my game tape looks like...". It is awesome to see him here already. Looks a tad bulkier too. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to see Trout out there with the rooks. And check out the hair-it reminds me a bit of The Glide. Travis is not going anywhere, anytime soon. I will pull a fatty if he does.

Bayless is the second best guard in the draft?

That’s weird.

Kevin Mchale, Elgin Baylor, Sam Presti, and Rod Higgins all disagree with you.

They can disagree all they want

That isn’t exactly the who’s who list of GM’s who make great draft picks. I’m fine with them disagreeing.

Um...

Kevin Mchale selected Kevin Garnett with the fifth pick in 1995. They aren’t stupid, they just didn’t like Bayless as much as the other five guards.

Chad Ford, who is a phenomenal judge of talent, ranked Bayless as the 12th best prospect overall. I think that’s a pretty fair assessment.

And since then...

His first round picks have looked like:

Ray Allen(traded)
Paul Grant
Rasho Nesterovič
Wally Szczcerbiak
William Avery
Ndudi Ebi
Rashad McCants
Brandon Roy(traded)
Corey Brewer
O. J. Mayo(traded)

So since Garnett unless he’s traded the player right away(ie, drafted for someone else) they haven’t been much. Not exactly a record that makes me respect his opinion.

That list looks pretty respectable.

He traded Ray Allen for Stephon Marbury, a two time all-star and a career 20 point 8 assist guy. I’m not a big fan of Marbury now, but for the first 10 years of his career he was one of the best guards in the league.

Brandon Roy for Randy Foye wasn’t a bad trade at the time. Foye has been injured for his first two years, but I think he has a good chance of being a great player.

No, Ford ranked him as the fourth best prospect.

He had him in his mock at no. 12 to the Kings. He had a disclaimer which said something to the effect of “This is not what I would do, this is what I believe the teams will actually do.”

Really?

Wow, that makes me feel a lot better about Bayless.

I'm not being sarcastic.

That really does make me feel better about Bayless.

Chad Ford

His mock drafts are an attempt to predict what teams will do, they are not a judge of talent.

Bayless will be very good.

Kevin Mchale, Elgin Baylor, Sam Presti, and Rod Higgins all disagree with you.
should probably mean you’re right.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
