What about ...?

- God should destroy USA because its people and government moral sins in such matters as…..., etc, etc, etc.
- Are you an angry muslim, a damned irritating european, a religious fanatic or what?.
- I partially agree with him but PUTIN should destroy USA, because God is an invention to take money and get worship from people because people is stupid.
- You all are wrong and stupid, USA in too big and strong, it will destroy itself and the whole earth for its pleasure.

Do you envision the possibilities? ;-)

Your statement is kind, wrong and contradictory because if i´m omniscient I don´t need translator.

Although it´s also true that i don´t need translation this time because the word “omniscient” comes from latin and has its correlative very similar Spanish word “omnisciente”. Anyhow I´m still like smoking something because of your comment.

Politically AND religiously charged!

And just brash enough to be taken as sarcasm. If you had just posted one, it might be inflammatory, but all four is pretty funny. I’m still of the opinion that a stereotypical religious fanatic is less dangerous than a stereotypical soccer fanatic. But that is not saying a lot.

Ever since we drafted Oden

I keep getting older, like every day. That stuff is SCARY!

Outlaw looks like he’s going through catfish-withdrawal. ‘Kicking the cat’ is worse than heroin; you stop caring about keeping your hair shaved, you look older, you start itching and scratching your skin to the bone, and etcetera.

I don’t think this summer of actual hard work is gonna work for Trout! Get him back in the rocking chair next to the river, drinking out of a jug marked XXX and wearing overalls, Mississipii style! He’s got a contract coming up in a few years, he might get injured!

In actuality, I am very glad Travis is working this summer. I like what I hear/read about him and Webster.

Kicking the Cat!

That brought a big smile to my face, though a bittersweet one. Our cat died recently and the house has had its empty moments. We were pretty addicted to that goofy bundle of purr, and the phrase “kicking the cat” is a great way of describing the withdrawal.

(Not trying to be a downer. It’s a funny line. Really.)

I'm sorry about that my friend

Nothing makes me sadder than pets passing away. I don’t get sad very often at all, and I take the passing of hu-man relatives as a natural part of life. But if my dog or cat dies? I get very sad. I am wierd.

Taurean Green

Who, according to Nate, was supposed to win some games for us last season has a non-guaranteed contract with the Nuggets. They have until Aug. 1 to decide whether or not to keep him. He will be playing for them in the Rocky Mountain Revue Summer League next week.

What happened with him? He was good enough in Summer League in get a contract with us, was traded mid-season for a practice player, and doesn’t seem to rate much space in Denver write-ups.

Could he turn out to be KP’s first draft mistake?

"We will do nice things!" - Rudy, 07/01/08

by jorga on Jul 11, 2008 10:10 AM PDT   0 recs

2nd rounders...

... don’t count as mistakes. They are too hit or miss.

Joel Freeland and Sergio Rodriguez are likely to turn into KP’s first draft mistakes. Petteri Kopponen has a lot to prove also. I guess Paul Allen was willing to but a bunch of late first round picks in hopes than one of the Euros would turn into something… as it appears that Rudy will.

I wonder if in PA’s mind, Rudy finding success would justify all the Euro picks even if the rest don’t come to anything.

Boomshakalaka

by jksnake99 on Jul 11, 2008 10:26 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

OK

I’ll go along with the comment about second round picks. But you can’t blame KP for Sergio. Oregonian, The (Portland, OR) – January 24, 2007 Author: John Canzano,

Last June in the Trail Blazers draft room, the franchise found itself with a decision to make. Point guard Sergio Rodriguez …was available, and Portland, which had the No. 30 pick, wanted him.

Phoenix, on the clock and picking No. 27, offered to sell their pick to Portland for $3 million. Rodriguez might, or might not, be there three picks later. And so every person in the Blazers draft room was asked to cast a vote on whether the franchise…should spend the money to get him.
One by one, the scouts and team executives said, “No,” ...” and this included the votes of acting general manager Steve Patterson and player personnel director Kevin Pritchard.
And then, it was owner Paul Allen ’s turn. Said Allen: “Buy the pick.”
Of course then this column goes on to say that Sergio just might be the steal of the draft…

"We will do nice things!" - Rudy, 07/01/08

by jorga on Jul 11, 2008 10:55 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Well...

it sounds like we still would’ve taken Sergio at #30 (if available) had we not bought the pick. If we are giving KP credit for Roy/Aldridge, we have to hold him accountable for the rest of the draft.

Here's some junk for the drawer:

I find it very comforting that we have another big man (Ike Diogu) on the roster in case Oden’s health doesn’t hold up. As some of you may remember, this continues to be a big concern of mine for various reasons. I’ve thought along we needed a contingency plan here, and it appears one is now in place—albeit quite accidentally.

I think we could now field a competitive team even without Oden. Lordy, I hope we don’t have to though.

by TwoDeep on Jul 11, 2008 10:38 AM PDT   0 recs

Bigs

While Diogu is a “big”, at 6’8” he isn’t a center, so as such I wouldn’t put which stock in a contingency plan for Diogu filling in for Greg should the need arise.

Of significance

is that we have a bruiser to step in for Oden no matter how Nate decides to assign the big man roles.

by TwoDeep on Jul 11, 2008 1:02 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Bruisers

Maybe my memory is a bit shaky on this, and maybe we think of bruisers differently but my recollection of Diogu’s game from his time at ASU is that he wasn’t what I would call a really physical player. Sure he set Pac-10 records for much free throws attempted and made every season he was in college, so he didn’t shy away from contact on offense. But he didn’t seem to be the physical presence on defense that his body type would suggest him to be.

just my opinion

i know, i know

just when I hear the a guy described as a bruiser I think of a Jason Maxiel/Corliss Williamson type player that stays within 10 feet of the hoop at all times. My memory of Diogu in college is that he stepped out a lot on offense to shoot 3’s a bunch. I also tend to think that somehow a substantial amount of those free throws he took in college were on cheap fouls.

I guess what I am trying to say is that when people talk about Diogu, bruiser isn’t a word that comes to mind

by tingeyga on Jul 11, 2008 5:44 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Say it was raining and you did not have an umbrella

Then the entire Trail Blazers roster walked up and each person had an umbrella. If they said, “You can stand under my umbrella,” whose umbrella would you stand under and why?

"Man I want to rec it again." - pualo talking about jscot's long comment

Ike Diogu's

He smells like cinammon rolls, and he’d take my arm and lead me to the nearest Izzy’s and we’d have our fill of delicious buffet pizza and desserts.

I don’t believe in umbrella’s though. I think they are a myth, like bigfoot or microfracture.

Growing up in Portland, I never ever used umbrellas, ever. I didn’t care about the rain (and I like the rain) or getting wet; I look good hosed down and moist. Anyways, down here in LA it never rains and I got used to it and I had to walk far for work and it was raining and I said EEEEEEKS RAIN in my brain.

I then shot myself in the head, woke up a year later, and somehow I have like over 5000 posts here. I’m new here, what is a Edge Blazers?

I think an Edge Blazer is one of those new electric shavers that leave your hair smoother than KP’s poker game.

I overheard TROUT sayin he’s getting paid ONE MILLION DOLLARS to grow his hair out then shave his head on live TV with the Edge Blazer Electric Shaver right before the opening day tipoff.

Well what if she really is Moist

I know it’s a name that she’ll have to live up to, but she’ll only be made fun of if she’s dry. Kids are cruel, but they won’t give her a hard time unless she is a living lie.

I’m gonna name my daughter an exotic Spanish word I heard once, “Puta”. I think it means delicate flower in Spanish, and I just think it sounds beautiful. I always hear Mexican dudes call their lady-friends this name, so it might be the Spanish version of “Joe” or “Mary”; you know, a really common name or sumthin’. I don’t want a common name, but no real American’s know that it’s a common Mexican name so I think I can get away with it.

Kid’s names are fun!

It's deja vu all over again

Not sure if this has come up yet, but it looks like the Bulls are shutting down Derrick Rose, supposedly because of tendinitis. He’s going in for a MRI this weekend. Given Oden’s history, I bet that’s making some people nervous in Chicago.

I think we deserved much of it. A bunch of them are wrong about LaMarcus, but hey, they’re just being obnoxious homers.

by Corvid on Jul 11, 2008 3:28 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Good thing we have the moral high ground here

And are never obnoxious homers, like those Bulls fans.

On a completely unrelated note, I gotta go finish my self-published novel about Kevin Pritchard actually being Jesus reincarnated, but, like, better. Well, it’s a “novel” for legal reasons, but I’m gonna sell it as historical non-fiction.

The sequel will involve Sergio being like Steve Nash, but, like, better; I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to include the Tyrus Thomas’ addiction to sniffing White Out derailing his NBA career subplot, but I think it’d be a strong B storyline to provide some contrast to the greatness of Sergio and the foolishness of other GMs.

All I’m saying is, KP and LMA will go down as the new Jordan and Pippen, even if KP doesn’t play anymore. The Bulls fans are total homers if they don’t agree.

(I hope the Bulls fans DON’T have to sweat out Rose’s injury too long and that they know what’s up. Injuries before a great career even starts is the last thing I want to happen to anyone, and Bulls fans don’t deserve that).

One chapter involves a true-ish occurence between my mother and KP; she was dying of AIDs of the heart and the world’s best doctors told her she would die in the next 5 minutes unless a truly heroic, roguishly handsome man could overhaul the Blazers roster within 2 years and make them a future contender.

Without revealing the end of that inspiring chapter, I’ll let you know my Mom is still alive, so that might give you a hint as to how it all turns out…

Ok, a lil’ spoiler: turns out the Heart-AIDs was actually just gas. But only KP knew, and he still turned the team around!

Have the games been available to watch later?

Man, like a dummy I forgot Summer League was starting already and I scheduled some important stuff on Monday.

Last year you could watch the games later on (and usually the feed was better for me, because it wouldn’t stop or skip, and I got a good connection I think), and a few were on NBATV. Anyone know if either of those hold true this year?

I know that no Oden might mean no NBATV, but I’ll be sure to watch each game like a good boy should.

I also know that Summer League “Don’t Mean a Thang”, but Bayless should KILL in that sort of game. Sure, it’ll get fans hopes up too high probably, and talk of him being a Day One starter will occur, but a quick and athletic scorer like him really should be up for the MVP of the league.

As a Homer, I am ready and willing to say Summer League don’t mean a thang if he plays so-so, but in my heart it will be a lie. Summer League is made for the Bayless’ of the world.

Summer League seemed to take FOREVER to arrive last year… this time it snuck up on me. Oden is so awesome he makes the flow of time change on his every whim.
