To Those Who Thought We'd Get Paul

This is not an I'd told you so, (mostly because this is my first post), but it is certainly something the get people's heads out of the clouds.

Paul Negotiating Contract Extension

Paul is already negotiating an extention with NO. He'll never make it to RFA, and I doubt Williams will either. We've got to focus on building the talent we have, then potentially shopping it later, instead of hoping to sign someone like Paul in free agency.

So with that in mind, I have a question for you below.

Poll
What is the best course of action for the Blazers regarding the Point Guard position?
  • We have our players, it's time to mold them.
  • We have our pieces, it's time to trade them.
  • We have our pieces, lets increase their trade value.
  • We have our band-aid, it's time to sign new players.
  • We have our BR, why do we need a PG?

Paul was never an option just a lie from Jason Quick. This belongs in the junk drawer. Not to say this post is junk, Dave, maybe people don’t like their comments under the label, junk drawer. I think Open Thread or Bedge Chatter Thread sounds more inviting.

Well...

I actually think I would only ever get a job with them if:

1. A lot of fans refer the PTB to me.
2. One or more of the players genuinely like my videos (and as a prerequisite, have seen them).

I’ve sent “It’s Not About The Shoes v2” to the front office. Their reply was basically, “that’s the best fan video we’ve ever seen, but you didn’t hear that from us if the NBA calls you about official footage”.

a non story like this is actually needed

because for some reason people are still fantasizing about stealing an all star (who would actually screw up the chemistry of the team but thats fuel for another post and lord knows we’re getting WAY too many as it is). But I guess other fans are probably talking about stealing away ROY, LMA, or Oden when they supposedly turn down our extensions so I suppose we’re no dumber than the average hungry homer.

actually I've really laid off lately

and I’ve always been very careful to not duplicate posts. Of course I enjoy new content but I think people would agree if a post goes up and its off the board in 4 hours…well maybe we could slow down a little bit. Everyone is entitled though. I consider these comments by the way, not posts.

Good for Paul

For wanting to remain loyal to his team, which is in a small market and probably doesn’t provide him with the endorsement opportunities that a Los Angeles or NY would.

Let’s face it, the feeling that we would experience if Roy or Oden bolt from us in three years is exactly the feeling NO fans would feel if we stole Paul from them by throwing an absurd amount of money at him and appealing to his greed. The whole course of dreaming of Paul bolting to us has left me thinking that… why do we want to be THAT team?

I’d choose us winning a championship by drafting well and making crafty trades ANY day over flat out stealing players from other teams.

by lyleleander on Jul 1, 2008 3:48 PM PDT   0 recs

I didn’t realize Quick was so reviled in here. The last time I heard him talk, he said that there was no way that Paul was leaving New Orleans, but that Deron Williams was a possibility (but by no means a probability, just a possibility). It didn’t seem like he going all Peter Vecsey and pulling stuff out of his arse, but maybe he was.

Deron would be great, but at some point I get worried that we’re trying to be a fantasy league team like in the Whitsitt era, rather than a championship team

Timbo and Chrischa

Seriously, this is stupid to complain about. If you dont like how many posts there are then DONT READ ALL OF THEM.

I think you both are just angry that with so many posts it means less time for your over analyzed poor attempts at humor bball diaries to be read and will move off the top ten board in way too fast a fashion.

Stop takin this so damn seriously. I am only posting this b/c this is like the 4th time i’ve seen a comment by you both about too many bad posts or too many polls or some other waste of blogosphere space whining. You obviously dont know that I can post as much of whatever I want. If i wanna worship Batum b/c he ’s soo hot then I cant do it damit and if my buddy Jordan wants to post a random poll and hype his videos then let him do it.

If your posts are sooooo superior to any other post on here then they should be perpetually +10 rec’d and always on the top of the reccomended posts. last time I checked they aren’t so get over yourself and enjoy the Blazer loving atmosphere!

Oh and PS if you want, email me, ill give you my phone number and you can yell at me for hours if I ‘ve offended you.

No need for vitriol, Sophia

I prefer quality over quantity, too. I actually liked BE better when there were fewer posts and comments. It didn’t take as much time to read and enjoy everything as it does now. No one wants a situation like Indy Cornrows, where one guy posts 80% of the limited content and fanposts rot on the vine for several weeks, but there are a lot of knowledgeable and witty writers on this site and some of them are, well, very prolific. Dave’s doing all he can to encourage us not to duplicate each other’s posts and comments and limit our fanposts, yet the quantity is still rising faster than the quality. I don’t know what the solution is, but bashing other folks for harmless remarks isn’t part of it.

Cranky?

The point is valid. Good and thought out information is often posted and then often lost in a matter of hours. That’s cool if the posts replacing them our thought out, but when various posts are “I’m so excited! Go blazers! YAY!!!!” or they rehash a topic we’ve already read 200 times, It can be rather frustrating.

There have been a lot of posts I simply haven’t read because I’ve been too busy. It also lowers the quality of the blog because people are no longer taking the time to think out the subject matter or put together awesome stats.

It’s not a matter of just not reading, but it’s also a matter of respecting the posts of others and making sure that what you have to say is worth bumping a post that may have taken someone a few days to research and write.

thank goodness

I’m tired of the Paul to Blazers talk. First, WE CAN’T AFFORD HIM WITH GO, ROY, and LMA!!! Second, he is a RESTRICTED FREE AGENT and member of THE CURRENT DREAM – N.O. aint letting him walk or trading him for Trout/Martell/Channing/Black/and Bayless….. I’ve always hated this hyperbole pipe dream, mostly because I DON’T LIKE CHRIS PAUL, HE’S A PUNK and BABY

why would the blaze want paul?

lets say, hypothetically, that the blazers got paul in two years, right around the time they are scheduled to win a championship, and then they win the championship (in 3 years), all we would hear is that it is chris pauls team and he is the reason for the blazers winning the championship. Thus taking the credit from the men who would truly be responsible.

Its much cooler to win a title through the draft, rather than through free agency.

No Paul, no problem

when the Blazers start beating NO in the playoffs en route to multiple championships.
