Hmmmm...
Does this make Beasley a small forward in the NBA or is he the next undersized power foward for the Houston Rockets?
I’m beginning to like Joe Alexander more and more…
"I was a huge Dr. J fan, so I was upset when Maurice Lucas and Bill Walton beat up on him in the Championship. But now Portland has a good young nucleus and with Greg coming on next year, they'll be a team I'll follow throughout the season." Obama

Also, Alexander bench pressed the most
24 lifts. He is a workout warrior so it makes sense.

Also
Is Kevin Love gonna PLAY in 2 inch heels like he was measured in?
Is Bayless related to Yao Ming, and inherited his T-Rex arms?
Is Eric Gordan even tall enough to go to Oaks Park?
Who is Longar Longar and where can I learn more?
Is there NO ONE who is actually 7 feet tall in the draft this year?
Everyone entering the draft in 2008 needed to drink more milk as a kid, and eat less chocolate. They are a bunch of shorties who will turn the NBA into another 6’5” and under league. GREAT, ALL WE NEED.

Longar ditto
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Longar-Longar-1199/
Longar Longar isn’t your typical college basketball senior, as he’s 24 years old, has only been in the United States since he moved here from Africa in 1998, and didn’t start playing basketball until high school in 1999. He was old for his class to begin with, but he also didn’t earn college eligibility initially, forcing him to spend a year at a prep school prior to coming to Oklahoma.

Official measurements is including shoes.
So Oden was 6/11 in stocking feet, 7/0 with shoes, he’s a legit seven footer. Brook is actually a hair taller and has a better wingspan.
by howlingfantods on Jun 3, 2008 4:08 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yup
I was aware of that, I just think everyone seems shorter than normal. This is the Tweener Draft to end all Tweener Drafts. If you love shooting guards who are too short to play shooting guard, this is the draft for you!
I remembered Oden was 6’11”, now looking at the 2007 draft results no one was a real 7 footer aside from Aaron Gray. (real meaning not wearing 2 inch pumps like Love did). Perhaps this is the norm, I just figured someone would be 7 feet tall—not that it matters, I am mostly just joking. Except for all of the guards being so tiny.
I wanna know how Nicholas Batum measured up, I wish he went to Orlando.

Hibbert's definitely above 7 feet.
Seems to have skipped Orlando though.
Yeah, funny thing was this was supposed to be the PG draft a couple of years ago, but all those pgs seem to have turned into combo guards instead.

Hmmm
Eric Gordan has some great stats. He is one of the few players in the draft that have a 40inch vertical, he has a 6’9” wingspan, and one of the fastest in both the lane agility and 3/4 court sprint.
KP said a year ago he liked Eric Gordan’s game. I could see us trading up to the bucks to grab him.
KP: You know Mike Rice, Mike Barret you've both been very valuable to us this season. But I'd still trade you both for a couple of 2nd round draft picks.

Wow
Joe Alexander and Bryce Taylor both come off looking really good. Alexander seems like a good choice if we keep #13 (which I doubt we will) and I could see Taylor developing into a useful role player in the NBA- he might be worth a look in the early 2nd round.

Phenomenal wingspan, though.
I didn’t think he looked that long. Interesting.

Dang Beasley vs. Love
Tell me again which one is the #2 pick (arguably #1). Either Beasley just saw his draft stock drop, or Love just saw his go up. Seriously, their numbers look almost identical.

Beasley's Height
Beasley being 6’7” is not news. This has been known for a long time by the same people who think he’s the best player. In other words, its been factored in. Maybe he’s a 3, or just a shorter, quick 3.
by matthewcc on Jun 3, 2008 4:02 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Rose is shorter than I thought.

Beasley measured out just fine.
A tiny bit small for a PF, but not that much—his standing reach is basically the same as Al Horford, and I don’t think anyone thinks Al’s too small for a PF. He’s still the #1 or #2 pick.
Love’s athletic measures were pretty good too. I think he rises a bit based on these results. Maybe more like 7-10 instead of 11-15.

Kevin Love
had some solid athletic measurements. However, I think the most amazing part was that he did so well despite still having 12.9% body fat. That means that he can still lose another 20 lbs of excess weight before he is actually in shape. If he continues with the diet and workout regimen that he is on now, in a few months he could back up his extraordinary skills with a freakish level of athleticism.
by trk on Jun 3, 2008 6:32 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
NOT
To achieve a freakish level of athleticism Mr. Love would need to go back in time and be born from a different set of parents. This would presuppose a fundamental dualism between Mr. Love’s essential “self” (his “mind” or “spirit,” if you will) and his body. Such a dualism is dubious at best. Mr. Love is forever stuck with the body he has. It is not a freakishly athletic body and never will be. Dualism has been refuted by the best minds in philosophy. Plus, time is immutable and no one can ever go back in time.
But I agree that Mr. Love has extraordinary basketball skills.
by Love on Jun 3, 2008 7:59 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Love isn't as bad an athlete as some have suggested
but he will never be anywhere near freakishly athletic, particularly by NBA standards.

His athleticism is what his athleticism is
He can only get in better shape/stronger by working out. He won’t become a high flying dunker.
You also have to factor in his natural genetics: I’d guess his diet and workout in college wasn’t all that different from his much more in shape teammates. His body just doesn’t stay athletic and lean like the others do, perhaps, so he really needs to stay on top of it.
He’s got skills, but I don’t trust fatties when it comes to basketball.

Id love to see us get Love
as a freshman he had his way in the Pac10. Im no UCLA fan but they have produced a few decent centers.

What about Rose?
Rose wasn’t as tall as I thought he was but his vertical is really impressive at 40 inches. This guy is a serious athlete!!

Disappointed that Brandon Rush didn't show.
I was curious to see official measures on that wingspan, he looks like a 6’7 in shoes, 7’0 wingspan type guy. Pretty close to Caron Butler type body I think.

The funniest thing
is to compare a player’s Height Without Shoes to his Height With Shoes measurement. Some of these guys are wearing high heels to camp.

Yes that is quite funny
Do you suppose they wore fishnet stockings too? Can’t really blame them when their whole objective is to pimp themselves out. Hoops whores, all of them.
by Love on Jun 3, 2008 8:02 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
That's what I thought too
I want shoes that make me 1.5 – 2 inches taller! Maybe then I can be drafted too.
If a player actually PLAYS in those lifts/pumps/heels he wears, okay, I guess. But I doubt it helps him to get measured in stilts. Who is they foolin’? Do they think no one sees the measurement saying 6’7”, and believe he is a towering 6’9”er? I know some GMs are dumb, but they aren’t that stupid. Ok maybe McHale…
I wish they measured EVERYTHING out (nudge nudge wink wink) so we REALLY know who to draft… right now, we’re prolly doing alright in that category and whoever we get at #13 has to not drag our team average down. THAT, and nothing else, is how championships are made.
And that’s why we’re here.

"Good Read" from draftexpress
http://www.draftexpress.com/article/Roundup:-Rollercoaster-Ride-Batum-On-the-Upside/
excerpt:
-D.J. Augustin (5-10 ½ without shoes) is short
Augustin is about to become the 3rd shortest player in our measurements database to be drafted, behind Nate Robinson and Brevin Knight. We don’t have every NBA player there, but we have a lot. Will he be able to see the floor and defend his position well enough? His standing reach (comparable to Luke Ridnour, Jameer Nelson, Mike Conley Jr) slightly compensates for that, but that might just be enough to scare away the LA Clippers at #7. Whether that’s smart or not, we will see in time. There is absolutely no question that Augustin can play.

The Blazers don't need another dwarf point guard.
We’ve already tried that.

Not a seven footer anywhere.
Odd.
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.
