Several issues with this.
1. How and why is Van Gundy doing interviews about the Finals?
2. Why do these NBA tv affliliates insist upon hiring morons to be the broadcasters? I wont be watching the finals except to laugh at my little brother when the Celtics lose, but if I was a fan of either team then I would still not tune in b/c these nationaly hired broadcasters suck. They are the worst. They never state anything pertinant or interesting- nothing thought provoking. They should have Mike Rice be a broadcaster.... :()
3. Vangundy has no way to substantiate the claim that the Lakers are going to be a dynasty. They dont have a Shaq .. period. And Kobe 'unselfish play" and "team first" attitude (which is a huge publicity stunt by the league and Lakers organization) wont last that long. Farmar is not going to be anything more than a mediocre at best PG i mean christ he barely handles the ball..Kobe does. (I have no statz to back it so dont yell at me for not substantiating that claim, but in my Laker hating subjective narrative it serves a purpose.) Odom is like Sheed was/is.. good when he wants. He is not someone an organization can lean on to win a champ.Bynum, well we shall see how he does. I have my doubts about him, as he was this highly touted center who was expected to be great...he should at least be as good as, say, my future babydaddy Mr. Dwight Howard but he isnt. And by the time that he finally matures and is good enough to have a significant impact Kobe will be out of his prime and Bynum can't carry that organization.
4. All in all Van Gundy is not qualified to make this kind of assumption. I know he is supposed to be saying things like this to the media to gain attention and draw viewers to the couch to watch this "dynasty" on the rise, but it's just irrational. Period.
So, in conclusion, anyone that says a dynasty is in the works and IS NOT talking about the Portland Trail Blazers then they are not qualified to be a broadcaster of the NBA finals.
