Next Year Minute Breakdown

PG

-starting: Bayless 22 minutes

-backup: Blake 20 minutes

-situational Roy- 6 minutes

SG

-starting: Roy 28 minutes

-backup: Rudy 18 minutes

-situational: Bayless 2 minutes

SF

-starting: Webster 24 minutes

-backup: Outlaw 20 minutes

-situational: Rudy 4 minutes

PF

-starting: Aldridge 28 minutes

-backup: Frye 10 minutes

-situational: Diogu/Outlaw 10 minutes

C

-starting: Oden 28 minutes

-backup: Pryzbilla 16 minutes

-situational: Aldridge/Frye 4 minutes

This leaves the players with the following amount of minutes

Bayless-23

Blake-20

Roy-34

Rudy-22

Webster-24

Outlaw-24

Aldridge-30

Frye-12

Diogu-6

Oden-28

Pryzbilla-16

I think this would give everyone reasonable time, sergio and koponen would get very limmited time, but they would end up taking blake or bayless' minutes if they prove themselves, the biggest problem I see is that we have to many power forwards. I think channing frye should be traded for something minimal, or a young developing player just because he has the same game as lamarcus aldridge and diogu brings another type of game, this would also open up a few more minutes at PF for travis, this lineup only has roy playing more than 30 minutes, which means that the playing time would be pretty even, and everyone should be rested well enough for some late runs.

oden will be a rookie, other than that i agree but who shouldnt get minutes?

by blackandwite323 on Jun 27, 2008 1:39 PM PDT up reply actions

diogu won't play much

He’ll play only occasionally unless he beats out Frye.

on 2nd thought Oden’s minutes are about right.

I’d add a few minutes onto Roy from the Rudy/Bayless/Blake group.

I’d take a few minutes from Web and give them to Aldridge (ie more time with Trout at 3 with Aldridge at 4).

Frye

should have the minutes of diogu

by raging WebTed on Jun 27, 2008 1:36 PM PDT reply actions

Webster should play

more SG instead of Bayless, this would also give trout a little more time.

by raging WebTed on Jun 27, 2008 1:44 PM PDT up reply actions

Looks accurate to me

Minor points:

-I think Diogu will have a few less minutes, and Frye a few more. I bet Diogu only plays in 1/3 games or so.

-I think Blake gets a few more minutes and Bayless a few less. Also, Blake will start at least most of the year.

by pualo on Jun 27, 2008 1:47 PM PDT reply actions

I agree

Blake a little more, Bayless a little less, and Diogu a little less, but I think Aldridge will take Diogu’s minutes, not Frye.

by Kelsoballa on Jun 27, 2008 2:14 PM PDT up reply actions

I highly doubt Bayless comes in and starts.

Blake will start and play about 28 minutes per game.

Agreed, that

Blake gets the nod. Bayless and Diogu still have plenty to proove. I say Diogu could potentially be bartered for another trade after July 1st, along with RLEC to bring in more help at SF.

This is fun to predict

If I had to guess I would generally agree with your predictions B&W, but it really all depends on two guys:

Oden for the frontcourt and Rudy for the backcourt.

Oden’s minutes could average anywhere from 22 to 34 depending on his fouling habits, chemistry, and development.

Rudy’s minutes could average anywhere form 16-30 depending on basically how good he is, we still really don’t know how good he will be in the NBA.

Why don’t we just make the court bigger and play 7 on 7.

by Kelsoballa on Jun 27, 2008 2:20 PM PDT reply actions

how 'bout a 9 man rotation?

Last year only 9 guys appeared in more than 70 games.

I agree with your Channing assessment. If Channing and Diogu are both on the opening day roster, I think one of them will have won the back up 4 minutes in training camp, and the other will be on the pine until garbage time, an injury, or the player ahead falters.

I’d like to see Bayless or Koppenen progress quickly enough eat into Blake’s minutes significantly by mid-season.

If Trout starts, we’re going to need the ‘playmakability’ of Bayless on the 2nd unit.
And I hope that we’re going to be very happy, by mid-season, with any pairing of the Roy/Rudy/Bayless back court.

I know this sounds nuts because we haven’t seen either Rudy or Bayless suit up in the league, but I don’t think it is unreasonable to think of nine-man rotation in March that does not include Blakey.

by gardenofoden on Jun 27, 2008 2:24 PM PDT reply actions

9 man is where we are at by year's end

start with 10 man (includes blake), but as bayless and rudy progress, it’s down to 9:

Bayless 26
Roy 36
Rudy 30
Martel 26
Outlaw 26
LMA 36
Frye/Ike 14
Oden 32
Pryz 14

by douglast on Jun 27, 2008 2:28 PM PDT up reply actions

Blake will start

Bayless will sub until he proves to Nate & staff that
he will play D and fit into the structure. If those things come
he may be a starter in 09-10.

It's GO time !

Pretty good

We won’t really know until training camp and the pre-season though.

Tons of talent. Unpredictable.

Imagine not pessimistic here we outscore teams in third quarters by 30 points. Rotation would be different.

Wrong time for minutes speculation

What condition will the players be in at the start of the new season?

What will the Summer League results be?

Dave pointed out that Webster, Jack, and Frye still have Cap $$ issues.
Will they be traded or have their minutes effected because of it?

Will the signing this season of Batum require further sharing of SF minutes?

To early to speculate!

by spencerbutte on Jun 27, 2008 4:20 PM PDT reply actions

Don't forget Ike Diogu

He was drafted at #9 in the same year as Webster, Frye, and Jack, so he also has a big ($8.7 million) cap hold in ‘09. I think whoever wins the role of primary backup PF between Frye and Diogu will get his contract extended, and we will probably trade or renounce our rights to the other one to free up cap space.

why is it too early to speculate?

isnt speculation always done ahead of time?

What about the Raefer?

If our roster holds put

Blake will be our starting PG, not Bayless. Bayless #1 role will be to provide scoring off the bench, something that really hurt our team last year. Bayless, Rudy, Outlaw, Frye off the bench will really do wonders for our team. We would get in so many scoring funks. That new backcourt of Rudy and Bayless is going to be a thrill to watch.
