2400 comments

Thats a rough approximation of how many comments we Blazer fans had during the draft. That doesnt include the threads leading up, or the threads recapping the draft. I was commenting during the draft and at one point i think about 20 comments were made at once. I may get criticized for turning this into a fan post and not obeying Dave, sorry Dave, i just figured I would show how dedicated we are to our beloved Blazers and how we Oregonians are proud to have them. Well, this may not have been necessary, but at least i didnt do the SPACE SPACE thing.

I'll use your fanpost to ask ...

why didn’t Bayless work out for Portland? Was our getting him just an accident? Or are we going to trade him to someone who did see him work out?

by TwoDeep on Jun 26, 2008 9:24 PM PDT reply actions

I think its because....

He wasnt expecting to get drafted this low, and apparently his agent doesnt know who Kevin Pritchard is.

Yes

I am disturbed we drafted a player without working him out. I would like to see it addressed.

homework is done before hand

the workouts aren’t that important and don’t effect things that much as per a blazer rep on one of hte webcasts.

Actually a rep for the Blazers saw him workout at the big multi-team session

that included most of the top guys except Beasley and Rose.

I agree with Sabonis4ever

Im a little iffy about taking a player we didnt work out. Especially since he was supposed to be a top 4 pick, but then slipped to 11. That may suggest teams saw something in their own private workouts? Im no expert, but thats my thought

who careas about a workout

one day over his complete body of work???

I think that was Sacramento’s logic when they drafted their bomb of a pick at 12.

No criticism

The point wasn’t to ban Fanposts today. The point was to keep from having six dozen fanposts all talking about the same three draft rumors. Post away!

Hearing that from you Dave

I think Im going to tell my kids, if I ever have them, that you posted on one of my posts. This means the world to me to hear that from you. If I ever win an award, you’re going to be on my list of people that im going to thank for winning the award. Im just debating whether or not to say you before God.

Amazing day

Draft day was awesome; turned out as well as it realistically could’ve for us.

The only minor problem is that Blazer’s Edge was down for an extended period starting in the late first round. For me at least, apparently it was fine for others though. Just too many people and comments on those threads. Even when the site was working, I could barely scroll, let alone post my own comments (on a decent computer and connection). Don’t mean to complain, just saying to see if anyone else had these problems. I’m worried about gameday threads though, will the new format be able to handle it? Hope that SB Nation has a performance upgrade some time. I don’t think the majority of SB Nation blogs are designed to have such heavy traffic at once in a post, we’re just special.

Anyway, the amount of comments is crazy. Counting all the draft day threads (minus the James Jones post), that’s roughly 3100 comments. Which could’ve legitimately been one thread, but it had to be split up. Good work.

Itvdidn't crash for me

But I almost reopened IE cause the site was so bogged down.

I REALLY hope they fix it before the season starts.

It’s also disconcerting when you’re trying to type a comment and the comment box scrolls away. Yes, I don’t type fast, but still.

Same here

Looks like a lot of people had problems. I’d be willing to go back to the old format just to have smooth gameday/draft threads

The board crashed under pressure?

Not surprised, the one time the new board was used during a game open thread it went buggy. I reported it to the tech support dudes and it was the first they had heard of it. But it’s confirmed—these real-time refreshing open threads can’t take big pressue…

Sactown had a ton

and they are hilarious. Those guys are the masters of despair and comedy at the same time.

They had like 4 threads because they were bogging down when one got too long.

If you go read their threads, watching out for falling f-bombs…

the air went out of the room there

one minute we are at pick 9, which is suppoed to be Lopez, with both DJ and Bayless on the board. Next thing you know, they are scrambling to find a pick and end up reaching.

Blazerholic, good find

I don’t want to crap on those guys since we all know how it feels to be fans on the stinky end of the stick, but their draft thread is amusing. Scroll 2/3 down to witness hope for Bayless shatter into a million f-bombs.

Not Crazy About Laughing at Others' Misfortunes..

But that was ridiculously funny. It’s like a written version of a bunch of people standing in an elevator and then the power goes out, the lights go off, the floor drops out from beneath them and just when they think they’ve hit bottom a trap door opens and they keep falling. At least they were good-spirited about it (as much as one can be). Talk about cursed..

My favorite quote was...

I didnt copy it, but one guy said something like, “They went to commercial right before our pick!! I hate them!” The next guy said, “Thats because the 27 of us in this post and the Kings Management are the only ones who actually care”

Felt bad, but found it hilarious
