Potential of Sergio vs. Webster
Last year, we learned a lot about many of our young players. In particular, I felt we gained a much clearer sense of both Travis Outlaw and Jarrett Jack. Though there is certainly room for debate, here's what I've concluded on these two:
Travis Outlaw: highly talented, good team fit, likely on the cusp of an absolute break-out year, potential for significant improvement still. My conclusion: DON'T TRADE
Jarrett Jack: great teammate, fun personality, disciplined worker, but highly erratic emotionally, unable to distribute effectively on fast breaks (though he finishes individually well), turnover prone. We have probably seen a good glimpse of what he can do and will be throughout his career: a very solid 4th-7th option on a contender. My conclusion: GOOD TRADE for the right piece given logjam at point
So my remaining debate lies with who we'd miss more and/or regret giving up when they blossom into the big time?
Sergio or Webster
I absolutely loved both in flashes last year, and certainly both could disappear at times, as well. However, Sergio stands at a significant disadvantage in that he averaged far fewer minutes than Webster and never fully gained McMillan's blessing. It's very hard to say what Sergio could do with a regular 15 mpg and a steady green light from the coach. As a point guard myself, I know that a hamstrung, looking-over-his-shoulder PG tends to disappear for fear of making mistakes. Sergio can't grow in this model.
Webster did a great job on many occasions and showed significant improvement over year 1. Will he continue to stabilize and diversify his game (particularly in getting to the rim and dropping the hot-hammer)?
So my poll question remains: Who would break your heart more if traded?

Jack
With our current roster, Jarret is at best our 4th guard. This gets him about 10 minutes a game and makes him our 10th man.
He has no future here, move him now.

you should have put "neither"
I’m cool with either or both being traded. I’m realistic.

Neither.
But if I had to choose I guess I would pick Webster.

NEITHER
Both destined to be role players. Sergio might be out of the league soon if he doesn’t pick up his game.

Webster is better and has more potential
Webster can become a pretty good (though not great) player on both ends of the court. Sergio can become a pretty good offensive player (though only if he learns how to shoot), but even if he work to improve his defense I don’t think he will every be very good defender.

Easy
Keep webster.
Sergio may be good for another team, but not this one (what I’ve been preaching for a while).
Actually I said Sergio WOULD be good, but being fourth string has really shown what a cry baby he is. His “pouting” as reported, has caused me to lose all respect for him.
This next year is Websters year to shine (if we keep him), but I suspect he’ll be vanishing in a trade. Webster is MUCH more useful and if he can play defense he’ll be tremendous for us.
Ford: Bill, you're claiming victory already? Have you had a "Mission Accomplished" banner printed yet?

Considering that Webster is now entering into his 3rd season and Rodriguez will have already played how many seasons overseas …
I would keep Webster for two reasons ….
ONE Webster is 6’7 (G/F) and his game has yet to reach its potential on either the offensive end as well as the Defensive end .. Web is a overall Better shooter as well as a better Defensive player … Bieng able to play either G/F is a huge ability an means his overall worth is more ..
TWO Rodriguez is 6’1 gaurd only an thats a relativly small gaurd .. I dont see him being anything special on the Defensive end … he has already hit his stride (overseas) an in my personal opinion is a decent baller … but he has the unfortunate thing of going against Webster ..
