Lee love?!?!? Not a trade post
David Lee is a hustle guy. Beyond this I don't see him being a great player. But, ever since he showed up in a trade rumor (please don't discuss the trade here, but just the player), Blazer fans seem to really have taken a shining to him. I don't see it.
There's some toughness, and I know folks are think we'd be better off to improve with some tough love at PF, but I'm not one of them. While I wouldn't mind him in a Blazer uni, I don't see any reason to get excited.
Am I missing something? Who is David Lee? What are his strengths?
Is it possible that because KP is rumored to be interested in him that Blazer fandom instinctively thinks he's great? I have to say that if KP like someone, I'm inclined to as well. It's just the trust we have. But is that all it is?
Again, this post isn't about the trade, whether it's realistic or not. It's about the player.

David Lee is overrated
GREAT rebounder, maybe one of the best. Limited offensive game, BAD DEFENDER. Really bad.
Athletic for a white big man, can dunk, plays hard. But, overrated because of his rebounding numbers and where he plays. He isn’t bad, but would he get much time on a team with LMA, Oden, Pryzz, or even Frye? Maybe not.
All on his own, I don’t think he’s a great fit. Last year, HELL YEAH, his rebounding woulda’ helped so much. Now that Oden is back and Joel is in the 2nd unit and LMA will likely have improved his rebounding, I don’t see much need for David Lee.
He’s ah’ite.

I compare to David Lee
To Dan Dickau, or Adam Morrison, or Keith Van Horn, or Tom Kite, or Kurt Rambis. Don’t know why, just sumthin’ about him that reminds me of them. Purely based on their game though, I am not racist!!!

Nonsense!
Lee’s game reminds me of Steve Nash. With a little Brent Barry (and a touch of Shawn Bradley) thrown in.

I think it was the rest of the trade that was appealing...
We lose Jack and the #13 and get Lee and the #6.
Lee probably has more value than Jack, and the #6 definitely has more value than the #13.
I don’t think it had as much to do with getting Lee as it did the value we were getting back for Jack and the #13.
We don't NEED the draft. -Mortimer 6/18

If that's the deal
That IS a no-brainer, even if I personally think Lee is overrated. The rest of the league doesn’t necessarily…

He was just listed as one of the top players in his draft
in another fanpost. That’s what inspired this. Also, there was a variation of that trade that had us JUST getting Lee, no pick

Just a really good spark of the bench
He’s been a really high energy guy for the Knicks, and would be a nice compliment off the bench.
Most of his points are usually garbage buckets, but he’s definitely a monster on the boards.

LIke him as a back-up
and if it’s just for Jack AND we get 6… how can we not?
