Combo Guards - Poll
Westbrook or Bayless? Just wanted a simple poll about this since it's draft day. Assume that we trade up to 5 and both of them are available. Rose and Mayo are gone and we can't trade for them. Which one would you prefer? We've already talked about these guys for weeks so I won't write an analysis of each guy or anything, this is just for answering the poll and commenting with your opinion. Thanks.
Update: Well, this hypothetical looks a little less likely with the Clippers trading up to 4 and targetting Westbrook apparently. But who knows, anything is still possible today with all the potential trades and Minnesota maybe picking a big man (leaves Mayo to go at 4 and gives us the choice). So continue with the topic, although right now it looks like Bayless will be the man at 5 if we trade up.

A small comparison
Was watching the 1997 NBA Draft this morning and saw
Chauncy Billups
6’3 203 pounds
32.7 MPG
.401 3 Point%
.413 FG%
.854 FT%
19.1 PPG
4.9 RPG
4.8 APG
This reminded me a lot of Jerryd Bayless
Jerryd Bayless
6’3 202 pounds
35.7 MPG
.407 3 Point%
.457 FG%
.839 FT%
19.7 PPG
2.7 RPG
4.0 APG
If Jerryd can even get to 80% of Billups, I think that’s a solid pick. I think he’s got the chance to be as good or even slightly better. I voted for Bayless over Westbrook, who is still largely unproven, even though I love both of them.

Sorry, that might have been a little ambiguous
Those are their final year of college stats, side by side. Chauncy’s height and weight are from his college days. He’s the same height, and has only added about 5 pounds since then. But anyway.

yeah, Chauncey is a lot stalkier than Bayless

Bayless getting killed in early results
Has his stock really fallen that much? I remember him being a top 5 pick most of the time, while Westbrook has been slowly climbing and just made it to the top 5 range. I do think Westbrook will fit better with the Blazers, but Bayless will be a better player overall for the first few years. I’d be really happy with either.. still haven’t decided for sure.
Good comparison prezofdeath, that helps.
