OT - Summer Movies

I know most of us are tired of all the draft and trade rumors and wish tonight was the draft.

So, is it me or do the summer movies suck this year.

Star-divide

Other than Ironman, I haven't seen anything good this summer.  Indian Jones was a disappointment and I heard that M.Night movie was horrible (no shock after lady in the water).  You couldn't pay me to see that yenta fest called Sex and the City.  Hancock, the Dark Knight?  ehhh.   I guess I should just shut up and enjoy the weather and wait until Blazer season.

As an Iron Man fan I cant agree

Maybe I was just in a mood but I found Iron Man did not meet my expectations. Wish I woulda sold my comics when the price was ripe… or rife… or right.

I'm exited about this years crop

Hancock, Dark Knight, Wanted, Hulk… all look like they might be good. And don’t think I’m one of those guys who likes everything, I’m very hard on action adventure movies but I see hope in these. Course I’m moving to Eugene and if I wait a few months I can see them all for a dollar in the theater so I won’t know for a few months but at least I save money. whoo hoo.

And yes Jones blew and M Knight has made a lot of stinkers like the Village.

Kung Fu Panda

I was laughing the whole movie and it had a good story line.

by Garden of ODEN on Jun 25, 2008 3:09 PM PDT reply actions

I've heard that's good

by someone I wouldn’t expect to hear it from. Animated features have been extremely disappointing and old to me in recent years (the new formulaic ones), so I may or may not see the movie. The friend who suggested it is the only reason it’s in doubt.

Ok

My favorite movie was Speed Racer, I know and I don,t care. it seems that no one else saw it. I thought the pretty colors and the campy acting were awsome. Will buy on dvd.

Are you kidding me?

Ironman was surprisingly good for a character that has never been my favorite and was definitely a movie anyone could enjoy.

Hulk was good

Prince Caspian was about ten times better than the lion witch and the wardrobe (Narnia) and was a LOT less god preachy.

Hancock looks hilarious.

Dark knight looks good.

Speed Racer made me want to stab my brain with a pencil and fling it across the room, and yet I think brain cells died and melted away because there was a part of my brain that seemed to be humping the films leg towards the end even as I thought a pencil through the ear would be less painful. Weird.

I think there were a few others i’m looking forward to, but I forgot what they were. No tv so no constant bombardment. I knew Indiana would suck so I haven’t seen it yet.

Seriously though, prince caspian is incredible.

Prince Caspian was good...

I didn’t like how the first one had very little action, this one had a ton. If they could balance story and action, the third one could be really good.

yah

I dont like talking about Speed Racer with others for that very reason. I really dont understand. I used to be like a go to guy with movie calls, if I said it was good other people would go see it then readily agree that I was most certainly right. Not any more. Hahaha. I dont know what happened, maybee cause I turned 30, and dont like inflicking my pscykee with dark movies anymore. oh well, cartoons any one, hay maybee we could watch reruns of americas home vidio, that host guy is so funny.

I also liked Hulk and Prince Caspian. Indy Jones was so-so.

The Mummy sequel looks awesome, and Journey to the Center of the Eart in 3D? Yeah baby!

Look out for Wall-e though, he’s the sleeper in this year’s draft…er, movie season.

could be

I was pretty down on it, and then I saw a longer preview. Wall-e COULD be good, but I have my doubts. He hasn’t really proven himself to me yet and I need to see more. If only I could get my hand on Prichards notes… er… the script.

Best summer movie I've seen so far

is IronMan. Hulk was good. Now I’m waiting for The Dark Knight, which is a lock to be awesome. Seeing Get Smart this weekend. Might see Wanted, jury’s out on Hellboy 2. Will see Hancock. Also looking forward to the August comedies Tropic Thunder and Pineapple Express. This is actually a pretty good summer movie season. I think there’s even some stuff I’m missing that’s gonna be good.

yeah… the whole alien story line, the guy who double crossed Indy like 5 times, going over 3 giant waterfalls w/o a scratch… surviving a nuclear blast in a lead lined fridge…. urgh.

It was like a movie equivilent of being Pritchslapped.

I tried that with a fence a couple of times

I cleared it, but as I got older my jump got shorter. Once day I caught my foot on it and tumbled face first into the ground. It was my last leap.

On some of them you're missing out

I understand avoiding the price (you can buy the DVD and a snack for the price of two), and it’s nice to not deal with the stupid heads. However, some movies have a LOT of excitement and opening day for Iron man was AWESOME!!!

Just saying. I love the energy of the crowd in situations like that. That’s why I go to games too and I’m always upset when I end up in a quiet section. Obviously I need to move up to section 323.

No Thanks

I used to work for a radio station and had to wait in line when the “new” Star Wars came out. I’ve hated those movies ever since. When they re-released the first movies, a friend got tickets and the crowd ticketed me off, because they laughed every time Luke whined. Luckily I fell asleep half way through the movie.

I hate crowds. I don’t like people sitting behind me or in front of me. I don’t like lines either. I got 50 inches of HD love at home so I’ll probably never go to the movies ever again.

Fair enough

crowds definitely aren’t for everyone.

I have to admit that I fell asleep when they released the first one too and I didn’t see the other two.

I did NOT wait in line for the new star wars films, and I’m glad. I would have been ticked.

I enjoy the socializing with people and the excitement, but to each their own.

We actually played chess in line while waiting to see the two towers. Some bratty girls talked at first but I took great pleasure in the fact that they finally shut up after 15 minutes because the film grabbed them.
