OT - Sergio
Just a quick poll. I have thought for awhile that Sb nation's icon or avatar looks a lot like Sergio. I have had a few cocktails, my wife is out with the girls, and I find myself typing. Anyway, here is a link to their icon

Here is Sergio (although you know what he looks like)

Not to pick on you...
But why do people say when they are drunk and posting here? I don’t get it. To answer your question. Yes, it does look like Sergio wearing a hat. When was the last Sergio diary? It seems like forever.

I agree...seems kinda' weird....
But anyway, I think the avatar looks more like Barack Obama with a hat on than Sergio.

I've always meant to point out
that it totally looks like Barack with a hat!

Sorry to throw this COMPLETELY off topic,
but what kinda’ guitars are those in your picture MT? I’ve been researching guitars and am probably gonna’ buy one this week; I’m a beginner—-have some experience on a bass guitar, but I know electric guitar will be way different.
So anyway, what guitars are those, do you like them, and got any suggestions on what to think bout/buy?

The sparkly gold one
is a Fender Telecaster (Custom Shop), the other is a Gibson Les Paul Standard. I LOVE them both, but they are both very expensive. If you are a beginner, I suggest getting a good used Fender Strat or Telecaster. Used you can pick one up for around $700, sometimes less. The one thing I would highly recommend is to get a decent guitar, even if your first. It won’t be a waste of money because if you end up not liking playing, you can sell it and break even. For example, if you do pick up a Fender Tele or Strat, only buy a USA made, not China or Mexico. They all can lose value, but the Mexican and Chinese Fenders lose way more value much quicker, and are made more poorly.

2nd opinion
I appreciate what Mr. Clemens has to say, but my take is a little different. IMO, a beginning electric guitar need not be very expensive. It’s true that a cheaper model won’t have a great deal of resale value, but more expensive guitars, also, can be difficult to sell for what they’re “supposed to be worth”. If you have a friend who plays and who can go with you, check out the used equipment ads in your local paper or Craig’s list. Or get a new Mexican Strat. If you stick with it, you’ll eventually know what kind of feel and sound you want in your axe, and you’ll be ready to lay out a bit more dough. Just my 2 cents.

Hmmm....thanks for the opinions...
I’ve got a friend who’s got a Gibson (not sure what it is exactly) that he’s willing to sell me for a couple hundred, so I’ll probably go with that. It’s not cheap, and it’s not too expensive….so I guess I’m kinda’ gonna’ be somewhere in between you guys’ opinions.
Muchas gracias for the advice.

Sounds good
Pretty much any Gibson that’s playable is worth a couple of hundred at least. Have fun!

Hee hee
That’s what I always said to myself also. I refuse to be stereotyped, as a user of Blazers Edge which is part of SBN, as a chubby elbowed bland looking Sergio/Obama impersonator.
Thus, I’ve chewed off all the extra flesh and lard around my elbow, and now I look NOTHING like that loser.

Maybe Sergio is Barack Obama
Rationale:
1. They both play basketball.
2. They’re both hawt.
3. They’ve never been seen together.
4. Neither can shoot the 3.
5. And they’re hawt.
