1080 The FAN Players Quiz

Have any of you guys listened to this, or called in to be part of it? I think it's just something they do for the TV broadcasts of the shows, but I really don't know cause I most often catch it on tv and not on the Radio.

I am lucky enough to have gotten through 2 times, and its kind of a fun thing. For those who don't know, they do this little game to give away stuff like tickets, shirts, etc. You pick your sport category (Basketball, Baseball, Football) And you have to answer 4 out of 5 questions correctly in order to win. Right now I believe the Prize is tickets to Eugene 08, before it was tickets to a Sportfight event.

The first time I got on, I (of course) went with Basketball, and I got Bill Walton, I unfortuntaley was off by 1 on his Jersey number, and didn't know that he had won the same amount of College Championships as NBA Titles.

I just got back on today, and thankfully got Clyde Drexler, unfortunately I didn't know who his Houston team beat in 83 for the NCAA title (NC State), and only got 4/5 which was good for a free shirt, but not for the Eugene 08 tickets. I am happy though, and I will sport the shirt proudly, as I am a major 1080 supporter.

I just wondered if you guess ever got onto this show, and more so, to encourage you guys to call in and try to get some prizes.

Sorry, but

after many years of Fan listening I stopped on Feb 28th when they announced what I thought was some very stupid changes – I’m sure others don’t agree.

I've since switched to 95.5 where I caught our Dave tonight resetting the brilliant topic of the day. Better reception and stronger lineup.

Free Joel Freeland! (with the purchase of 1 Wafer)

I stayed with the fan until 95.5 came along

like I posted on other sites before the bedge came along. change is the only constant in the universe.

The Fan

Gavin was CLOWNING “The Fan” today on his show big time on his top 10 list. So hilarious, he made it sound like a bunch of douchebags running that place! Seriously though, I really am surprised they even exist anymore. I LOVE ALL THE BLAZERS TALK on 95.5, for real!!!! !!!! !!!!

Big Suke is the Big Clown, non-journalist, close-minded, elitist.

I used to listen and call to the fan all the time. Suke is a toolbag. I am thankful that I have an option now and turn my radio dial from AM to FM to listen to local fans talking good about local sporting options.

Everytime Suke wants to infuse his opinion, he is seemingly raising his voice to talk over everyone even though he is in a studio with one other dude. That means Suke just loves the sound of his own voice. Suke is ignorant and close minded. He talks trash about “fringe” sports like women’s fastpitch softball (why diss Division III NCAA sports?), MMA fighting, Lumberjax LaCrosse, and even our PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS. PDX has one top tier pro franchise and you are gonna diss it bro? How foolish is this CLOWN? I know this is sports talk radio, but come on. The only things that matter are not JUST national headlines, Chuck Norris and whatever stupid 80’s man-movie poll you want to regurgitate. Suke is a typical locker-room clown. I played sports and I know 10 clowns just like that fool. That is why there are ratings for them, because there are plenty of idiots that like to listen to idiots (See: previous listeners to Jammin’ 95.5). Not only that, but Suke dislikes Sports-Bloggers (us) and doesn’t feel that BLOGS should get media credentials. This is a comment from a sports broadcaster who doesn’t consider himself a “journalist”, but a “talk-show-host” or entertainer. Okay Big Clown, do you get media credentials?... and what the heck for? FYI Big Clown: Blogs offer instant, critical and creative analysis to the sports world where an idea is presented and anyone who wants to read others opinions and write their own can and do so. Which makes for some of the best thought provoking, changing and developing ideas any sports fan could hope for. Way more than a radio show focusing on a Big Clown who craps his pants while jogging (true story, allegedly).

I love the new LOCALLY FOCUSED 95.5 the Game (although their production sound effects guy needs to simmer down quite a bit.). Blazers talk rocks. I enjoy not having to listen to Mariners baseball for three minutes before I ask myself why I haven’t changed the station yet.

I feel bad for Isaac, he was a pretty good host until Big Clown ruined it for him.

So, No. I didn’t catch the 1080 the fan players quiz. Sorry I missed it.

People Still Listen to The Fan?

I stopped listening when 95.5 came along. I grew tired of Big Suke, and despite the fact he lives in my hometown of La Center, Wash, I can’t stand his blowhard commentary on things he doesn’t appear to know much about.

I liked Isaac, I wish he’d find his way over the The Game.

by SloppyJoe on Jun 24, 2008 10:31 AM PDT reply actions

Hey yo

Dynasty did email this to me, and I find it hilarious.

It’s equally funny that Twain thought it might be me. As fun as it was, I think I’ll retire from verbally masacaring the “competition”.

Like Sloppy, I stopped listening to The Fan long ago. It makes me want to barf, but I thought it was just because I was biased.

Dave or Ben, if you doubt this is really me, call me.

Sincerely,

Gavin Dawson AKA The Peoples Champ

Only the real guy would be crazy enough ingenious enough to make his email address his screen name

In that case....

I guess I will change my screen name to be my email address.

From now on, my posts will be under issac.ropp@1080thefan.com....

Ooops, now Big Clown will know I despise him. Boy that little recording booth is going to be very uncomfortable.

Colonel Rondo and his second round armada?

If Boston is determine to rebuild and cut salary isn’t two mid lotto pics and the right salary filler decent. Maybe not enough but better than what most teams get in that situation. I would prefer that over the Chris Paul package.

I hope and figure that the Trail Blazers could have the best of both worlds. I’ve never seen a more bountiful 2nd round. Its conceivable that the team could deal both lotto picks and still find some nice players in the draft. Players like Orlando Johnson, Lucas Nogueira, Kevin Jones, Will Barton are 1st rounders in most drafts even if its just based on hype and potential. Then you have some possible gems in such a deep draft like Machado, a couple guys that I personally like from Georgetown-their center Henry Sims and forward Hollis Tompson. Both high upside players that I would love to watch in the summer league. If PA were to ever buy into or trade into late first or second round now is the time. Give me Freeland, Diebler and four second rounders in the summer league with Rondo coaching.
