Dreaming On! CP3 or DWill in a Blazers jersey!

I know this may sound ridiculous, but next summer Chris Paul and Deron WIlliams are both becoming restricted free agents. If any of you guys know Kevin Pritchard, he likes to get what he wants. When Portland traded away Steve Blake, KP was furious, cuz he loved Blake. So when KP becomes GM, he gets Blake back. In the 2005 draft, the top two players on KP's draft board were:

1. Chris Paul

2. Channing Frye

The Blazer management went against KP and traded down to 6 and picked Martell Webster (sorry for the history lesson but it's vital for my "argument") Pritchard didn't get the players he wanted in that draft, but in a couple of years, after he became GM, he got one of them (Frye obviously) on a draft day trade. I'm not saying there will be another draft day trade that will bring CP3 to Portland, that is impossible.

Pritchard will always at least TRY to find a way to get the players that he originally wanted! He got Steve Blake back, he got Channing Frye back, and in the 2006 draft he got the top two players he wanted, LaMarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy, for practically nothing it seems now! When KP wants someone, history shows that he gets that person, and he makes it seem as easy as taking candy from a baby!

Also, coming into play, of course, is the salary cap. Chris Paul will most likely ask for a max contract. That year though, who will be off Portland's salary? Darius Miles, Raef Lafrentz, Travis Outlaw, and STeve Blake. When Portland resigned Outlaw and signed Blake they did so for only 3 year contracts, so then this next summer they can try to land one of the top two point guards (CP3 and DWill)

Maybe I'm just dreaming.... maybe i'm insane... but maybe, just maybe, this is possible

I don't understand why everybody wants Chris Paul

If we are going for a mega star….why not focus on Lebron?

Chris Paul

How we get Chris Paul:

Paul: I’m not signing an extension
N.O.: Oh crap
KP: We’ll offer B. Roy for Paul. You’d better take it.
N.O.: Okay

What's the point of having Paul...

...if we have no Roy? If we trade away Roy then Paul would essensially be on the same basic team he’s on now?....... well cept with Oden.

I just think we should never have anymore talk of trading the big three. Even in jest or extreme hypithetical.

can we please...

... put a moratorium on CP3/Deron suggestions. There is NO WAY these guys don’t sign extensions with their current clubs. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

Hush now.

Our owner is a Billionaire.

and all things are possible. Paul could play out next year and decided all he wants is rings. He looks over at us and sees himself from standing outside a dynasty looking in.

I agree that because of the way things are set up it is logically unlikely to get the Paul but all things are possible.

Just say’n

all things are not possible

because RESTRICTED free agent means that NO has the right to match ANY offer from any other team plus ONE MORE YEAR. You think they aren’t going to match and he’s not going to stay with them? keep dreaming. Plus, personally, I think he’s a punk and I DON’T THINK we need him to win a championship.

All things ARE possible

I’m saying it is very unlikely that Paul will come here because of the things you state but as we ARE dealing with people it is possible that he will see the grass greener in Ptown and want to come. Course he is probably going to want the Big Easy Money but he might also see year after year of 1st and 2nd round exits in his future and know if he wants the rings he has to travel to city with the Norse God at center.

I also don’t think we need him to win championships. Hey you know what? He might need us more than we need him.

Sigh.

Now I am having flashes of Chris Paul in a Blazer uniform.

For the record, neither of them will be Blazers. Their current teams can offer them far, far more in a contract. I think the rule is called bird rights, where their team can sign them for an extra year and around thirty million more. Not sure about the specifics.

But it would be quite amazing. Four max players on one team. It will just never happen.

Good idea

It sure sounds like a dream to me though.

I keep getting the same feeling about LeBron becoming a Blazer

that I had about the Blazers getting the #1 pick and drafting Greg Oden. The Yankees cap was just a smokescreen. KP and Wesley have it all worked out for LeBron to sign with Portland. No, I’m not smokin’, this deal is!

We need to limit Paul diaries to one a month

This is the one for June.

Really? (I think it's impossible)

It would probably have to be a sign and trade. We would have to give up LMA, Trout, this year’s pick (Westbrook Augustin, whoever), and future first rounders. Is that worth it? If we did it i’d rather get Williams.

if it is possible

KP is the only one capable, so sayeth the deciple.

"KP actually "pritch-slaps" a rival GM across the face when they suggest a trade involving GO, BROY or LMA" chrischa

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
