The Magic of Podcasting

Here is this week's installment of the Gavin-Casey-Dave foray into the world of all things Blazer.  Gavin and Casey share their impressions from the ongoing workouts and we all toss about the potential draft scenarios.  Plus there's a near slap-fight in the studio over the relative toughness (or not) of the University of Oregon.  Nice.

You can find the mp3 here.

The next Captain Comando…Reuben Patterson per Gavin. Ok…if this were true …I would be all over that. I have been sayin’ that we need get a Reubenesk (not a fatnaked lady in a painting) type of player to just get out there and motor!! If he also scares Zack…mores the better

i don't know who to be more geeked about augustin or koponnen

after listening to that i’m ready to buy stock in both.

also, all dj augustin conversations from here on out should include guest host joe freeman reading from his blog post in a mock dick vitale voice.

I am in the Koponen camp.

A 6-5 pass first point guard. Please do awesome in summer league Playboy….it is gonna be just you and McRibberts. Time to shine.

Kopponen, yes

No more dwarf point guards please.

Unlike some past conversations about competing point guards on the same team,

I am all for bringing Koponen in too. I want the best options for the team that do not involve panic buttons.

Andrew..... if you have any pull please keep the Gavin/Casey/Dave podcast's coming all summer

I’ve listened to every podcast. Thanks for representing. Please tell Gavin that it’s nice not hearing him say brah to every caller or guest. Other than blazers courtside & the Gavin/Casey/Dave podcasts… I enjoy Gavin’s show the most.

Great info

But how much lipsmacking do I have to hear? Next to talking in a movie theater, my biggest pet peeve is hearing people smack their lips. Especially into a microphone.

Not you Dave, you have a beautiful speaking voice and were the consumate pro.

But those other two, Well the other guys know there, smack, stuff, drool, too.

Just somebody tell for me eh?

Best Quote from Dave

“Vertical is nice, but lateral, is really, really important.”

by tominhawaii on Jun 19, 2008 11:44 PM PDT reply actions

Oh yeah, that reminds me

Was it in this conversation that I heard somebody say words to the effect that Kersey couldn’t cover anybody, that he didn’t have the lateral mobility? What a crock! I once saw Jerome dance sideways across the floor like a king crab on crack! Sorry, I know that is not the best simile, but it’s all I’ve got right now.

"Shoot, I don't even have anything to put in my own sig"

That's the first I've ever heard that

so it must not have come from the podcast.

I have no complaints

Love these. EXCEPT on my ‘puter, which admittedly has normal comes-with-the-puter-speakers, can hardly hear Casey when he trails off. He is very quiet.

Everyone else I can hear, so maybe they talk louder into their mic/phone or have their levels boosted higher. Just boost Casey up a bit, or Casey can adjust his speaking voice and remember to keep it at the same level as he’s finishing his thoughts.

Is anyone else having this problem? If I am the only one, I’ll just wear headphones to listen to it. I can live.

Everyone is so good, I gotta hear every little word.

by Mortimer on Jun 20, 2008 12:39 PM PDT reply actions

I have that problem over the phone as well

Casey usually reads these so I’m sure he’ll pick up on it.

On the other hand I think the podcasts have gotten better as we’ve all loosened up and got into it more, which requires more informal conversation, which tends to lead to things like trailing thoughts every once in a while.

I liked that

Last week, there were a few times, where I thought you guys were going to cut to commercial. This week it was more like a round table discussion of three guys picking each other’s brains.

Casey trails off....

Making it really hard to hear, I agree. He has good points but I usually miss the last half of them because his voice gets quieter and quieter….

Dave, I agree they have gotten much better and smoother

Since 95.5 went live I have been listening to Canzano on the way home from work (yeh no Mariners). I bring this up because you sound, to my ear, a lot like JC (for what it is worth). However ….that being said…if you want to improve and sound more professional, listen to what Gavin is doing. Not the tone, because that is just a God-given talent like anything else. Just listen to (and try to mimic) the cadence of his voice and what he is doing as far as the expressiveness of it . My old man was a disc jockey for years and I was briefly in the biz as well and it is definitely a learned skill like anything else. Anyway…keep up the good work!

Yeah, except

Casey is the one who should really pay attention to your advice. And Casey could talk a little less as well.

by TwoDeep on Jun 21, 2008 7:47 AM PDT up reply actions

Wha???

Casey should absolutely talk as much as he can.

I swear, this guy is the most underrated guy on the planet. When he drops knowledge it’s solid and his mind is darn sharp.

Colonel Rondo and his second round armada?

If Boston is determine to rebuild and cut salary isn’t two mid lotto pics and the right salary filler decent. Maybe not enough but better than what most teams get in that situation. I would prefer that over the Chris Paul package.

I hope and figure that the Trail Blazers could have the best of both worlds. I’ve never seen a more bountiful 2nd round. Its conceivable that the team could deal both lotto picks and still find some nice players in the draft. Players like Orlando Johnson, Lucas Nogueira, Kevin Jones, Will Barton are 1st rounders in most drafts even if its just based on hype and potential. Then you have some possible gems in such a deep draft like Machado, a couple guys that I personally like from Georgetown-their center Henry Sims and forward Hollis Tompson. Both high upside players that I would love to watch in the summer league. If PA were to ever buy into or trade into late first or second round now is the time. Give me Freeland, Diebler and four second rounders in the summer league with Rondo coaching.
