Draft Party 2008
For those who want to meet other Bedgers locally, sorry tom, you are out there... :( i plan to host a party at a grill/bar/restaurants with tv's for blazersedge.com.
I live out in beaverton/hillsboro and i am open to any bar/grill/restaurants in the area. you are free to brainstorm for the west side, downtown portland, the east side, and gresham area. Few options are being considered are Buffalo wild wings in streets of tanasbourne (in nw beaverton, and it will be jammed, for sure!) sports look in hillsboro. That's on top of my head. If you are an owner of a bar/grill and would like to host a Blazersedge.com event, I'm for it!

I work
at Split Dine and Drink in Bridgeport Village, and they have a nice wrap around bar that would seat approximately 30 people. I have the night off for the draft, so I could possibly float the idea to my boss and see if he would be interested in reserving some seats for us, and maybe get some kind of deal? I definately can’t guarantee anything, but I am definately interested in joining in with you guys.
I also use to be a cook at Ruby Tuesday in Beaverton, and have a pretty good friendship with the management their and they have a pretty cool bar area, I could ask them if they would be interested in hosting it, my former roommate is one of the head cooks there so he would be able to put in the good word. That place gets pretty crazy busy though so It might be harder to do that.

We hadn't figured that out yet
We are coming from the Salem area so it doesn’t matter too much Hillsboro or Downtown.

We will be at the downtown BWW
I’ll wear my Blazer Issues Blazersedge shirt. Silkybrown is 5’1” and about 260lbs. He will be wearing a shirt that reads: “Jarrett Jack # 1 fan I love bubble butts”

5'1" 260 lbs?
With all due respect to your mom, what does she have to do with this discussion? :)
Bubble butts yes, Jarrett Jack…not so much.
If I know Tweener, he’ll likely be sporting his favorite Rick Neuheisel Huskies shirt, where Rick smiles and gives two thumbs up, all while saying, “All bets are off.”

From this Jerry Springer show extra. No wonder Kobe had a bad finals…this was his inspiration in the stands.
Oh, here is that picture back from the Notre Dame game we went to. Good grief they were horrible that day. The best thing about that day was this picture I was able to snap of your folks. I know, I know, I lied about the whole 260lb thing. I was just trying to be nice.

Hey everybody, come and join us at the blazeredge draft party
Here is a picture of Silkybrown’s extended family at last years trailer trash themed blazer draft party. They didn’t even have to dress up.

Hubba Hubba
Uncle Jim and Billy Bob I know, but who is the tasty dish on the far right? Seriously, Tweener, since when have I been related to the Ostertag family? Give me some credit!

Wish I could join you
but I have other plans that night (made months ago and not involving the draft). I’ve scheduled it on TiVo, but I’m really torn because I’d like to watch it live. (I don’t know why it is important to watch it live – I should be able to avoid hearing anything till I get home. I watch all the games via TiVo but for some reason I want to watch the draft in real time.)
I believe the draft broadcast begins at 4:30 (a preview at 4:00?) ... which would mean we’d be on the clock about when? (First round.) Probably not in the first hour. It seems like last year we waited forever for #1.

You're an hour late
its’ on at 1:30 PM my time and we have a three hour time difference, so it’s on at 3:30 PM your time.

Never mind
I checked last year’s Draft Open Thread and the 13th pick was made at 5:54. (Thanks to Engineer Scotty’s post.) All the BE discussion at that moment was about the Randolph trade … and no one was happy (even Dave called it “gross”). And now almost everyone loves CF.
by jorga on Jun 19, 2008 7:30 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Darn
I was not there.
I would have been THRILLED although I thought CF would play better with us, I can understand why he didn’t.
Also, it got us Rudy which ALSO thrilled me as I was already aware of that spanish team.
My initial thoughts with James Jones was “he was tossed in to get rudy and I don’t care”. Now I like the guy as a good role player.
Still, even if Frye is a bust and James and even if we didn’t get Rudy… we got rid of Randolph and that was a number one priority for me. I STRONGLY suspected that Francis would never put on a blazer uniform and I think I said as much at a later date.
At the time I thought Frye would be a great center for us (OH so wrong THERE), and I love him as Aldridge lite. I think he’ll do great on another team as I sadly think he’ll need to go to make playing time for outlaw. I just love players who love Portland.

OH!!!
I remember where I was. I was at a bar with a girl playing pool, losing half my games, and watching the draft. I don’t know if I was still there when we made the rudy trade. I seem to remember that took FOREVER!!!

I was at the RG
with my grandson. I’d never been on the Trade Randolph bandwagon though I certainly didn’t oppose a trade. I was wearing my “Cult of K.P.” shirt and figured that since I trusted him in the GO vs KD decision that I’d trust him in the Zach trade. I wasn’t knowledgeable enough to have an opinion about Frye, but I did hate to see Freddy Jones go (and I was even a Dickau fan). I just figured KP knew what he was doing (getting enough value for those three.)

On Deck Sports Bar at NW 14th & Lovejoy in the Pearl District...
The NBA Draft will be featured on a majority of On Decks’ 32+ flat panel TV’s. This is a nice location downtown in the Pearl and they are excited to have Blazers Fans and Blazersedgers come to enjoy this years NBA Draft party.
I do some work with the owners of this Bar, they told me that they are supporting the draft, supporting the Blazers, and may even support the Blazersedge by designating a Blazersedge special drink price and maybe a Blazersedge appetizer.
What would be a good Blazersedge drink special and what would be a great appetizer to deem official Blazersedge app special?
Let me know if you would want to come to this spot.

Great Central Location
Try Macadam Bar & Grill, near Johns Landing. Lots of widescreen TVs. Seldom packed. Really good food. On-site free parking.

If this were held in SLC
I’d be there! Particularly if they had wifi! (which one of the bars does although I don’t know 3 hours of battery life is enough for the draft)

I'm
up for Wild Wings downtown or On Deck in the Pearl. Preferrably on deck, as it is closer to where I live, haven’t been there, and thought that Wild Wings was just OK. That probably has a lot to do with me not being a huge wings person.
