How to win a title in David Sterns, NBA!
With all the recent talk about refs, David Stern, Phil Jackson's whining, the finals, et al. We need to talk about winning a title.
The NBA is a business, and whether you like it or not its proven to be all about growth and the maximization of profit. Money, viewership, ratings, all follow the big city markets on the east coast and the west coast. Depending on whether you believe the NBA never tries to influence games or not, and you are certainly entitled to your belief...
"OJ didnt do it!"
Oh, you think so do you??
Well, guess what, we are a small market team. We can forget about winning a title without at least one player that any fan out there would want on their team.
After all you have to learn to play the money game in order to win titles in the league today. We must provide our ruler, the NBA, with a Superstar to make big money on.
Oden.
The top marketed players today are Lebron, Kobe, Yao, and Shaq; well, he used to be, but he's still in alot of commercials.
Oden has the best chance of any of our players to make it to that level. Lets just let him develop his game, which he will. Just try to picture him in an after game interview. With his joking attitude and demeanor he is going to impress the NBA enough that he will get some great exposure, especially when we make the playoffs.
The blessings of the refs be upon us.

I don't agree
entirely. The Pistons didn’t have that guy. Really, the Spurs don’t have that guy. TD is great, but he is BORING and extremely UNMARKETABLE. I think you have to be good enough to overcome the obstacles of big market teams, which San Antonio was able to do. Plain and simple, there’s is the model we need to follow to success, but hopefully with more flash!
the spurs
were an international team and had international appeal.

The NBA loves duncan
and he has been one of the best players in the NBA for some time. We certainly have to play above and beyond. The NBA just has a history of stealing from teams that should have won but didn’t, due to what has to be, bias. The Spurs and the Pistons just didn’t give them the chance, and your right, we had better not also.
well its a double edged sword
its not the money that makes the man its the man that makes the money.. .. the cream rises to the top and the money follows..kobe is a rapist and adulterer but we dont care about that because he can put the freaking ball in the hole his endorsements will come back eventually because we forgive and forget winners
if it can be conceived it can be achieved
Does the league get
the money from the higher ticket prices in the bigger market teams?
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.
I figure they do too.
Can you imagine how upset they’d be (league, not us) if it was a Blazers/ Bucks Finals?

Of course they do, it's called a franchise for that exact reason

Stern
That is why I would like to see Stern go. If you only want big names to win rings, then you are running a garage league. I know it is a business, but it is an illegitimate one if it is just all about money and marketability.
